The timeline doesn't really suggest MDMA toxicity... I would expect negative effects to show up within 6-8h of ingestion, not the next day...

Good point about the time-course. I was thinking it a non-anaphylactoid reaction of some sort, but that's a lot less parsimonious than the MDMA having been a completely spurious factor.
