The Dalai Lama is pretty cool actually. Can't fault the dude really. Much better figurehead for a religion (or whatever he actually is, I'm not sure) than any pope etc could ever be.

As a basic example - Why does the church treat women differently now than it did just a few decades ago? Did God come down & re-write the bible during that period?

They bend to the congregation, but never in a way that contradicts the bible massively. And even then a lot of people were up in arms over it.

@MSB - They still did it though. Didn't they? So they did change the rules to suit the times. If the bible were truly the word of god & the church followed it to the letter (as it should, seeing as it is the whole basis of their fucking religion) then they should be preaching the EXACT SAME shit they were preaching a thousand years ago, regardless of anything else. They re-interpret things to suit themselves, it's a pile of pish.

YPDH - No idea why that is relevant but, no I don't because I don't find men attractive. I have no problem with men shagging each other, I just wouldn't want to watch it. Same as I wouldn't like to watch a man shag an unattractive woman, or two unattractive women shag each other.
 
Okay MSB, you acknowledge that every one of us commits a 'sin' of some kind, and your ready admission that you and your friends indulge in behaviour that can be considered 'sinful' is admirable.

Yet you claim claim not to know whether homosexuality is a 'sin'. Surely in order to have such clear ideas about other sins, you must have some idea whether homosexuality is condsidered a 'sin' in Christianity, especially when scriptures would seem to unequivocally support that argument?

I'm sorry but it's one or the other. Either the bible is god's word or else it's a collection of usually poorly translated texts open to reinterpretation. You can't have your cake and eat it and you can't say that religion doesn't make things up to fit in with societies values.

They're not inviting you to watch them either, so if you don't want to watch, that's basically the default setting.

I'm done with you. You've cleared up what I was getting at with my questions to you. You're not the progressive type, but the poisonous type of Christian. Got it, loud and clear. Nothing more to discuss with you.

With the mindset you have you'll miss all the benefits, but carry all the nasty bullshit, from the particular religion you've latched on to.

Weren't really essay type questions though were they? Just very basic questions aimed at pointing out the utter hypocrisies of your delusions, or should I say faith.

I feel I have a handle on the sins I am liable to commit, and homosexual sex isn't one i've had to consider. If a Christian friend asked me for personal advice I would have to do a lot more research to come down one way or another. One thing that I am certain of, however, is that if God was ok with it, then it would probably have similar rules to heterosexual relationships. Rules which I flagrantly abused myself, so I doubt i'd be too much help.
