Misc using cotton to inject thru when IVing...why?

i thought it was to stop any chunks or anything from going into your body. but don't you risk cotton fever?


also something like speed or something water soluable...do u need cotton still?

Speed still has cuts just like anything else, so yes you need to filter it. The point is to remove all of the cuts, and binders (in the case of pills) so that you don't have them floating around in your system, and accumulating to cause problems.

Cotton fever usually only happens when someone uses the same cotton twice. It's from the bacteria that grows in it after its first use. Micron filters are a lot better than cotton, so they should be used if you plan on continuing IV drug use.

yeah, cotton doesn't really filter that well, but I've found that with almost every drug (with the exception of very good cocaine, and even then it should be filtered), it is actually impossible to suck up the solution without using a cotton. However it will only rid your solution of the more insoluble binders/cuts, Micron filters are much better, and a certain size can even eliminate bacteria

i used to use the underside of my sweatpants or sweatshirts if i didn't have any q-tips on hand.any and everytime i would try to use a cigarette filter piece i would get cotton fever.now that there is a shitty feeling.no amount of extra H will take those uncontrolable shakes and sweating away.if i had access to the pen filters as i do now i would've been using them...

Cotton was originally used to prevent blunting of the needle as it drew up solution from the spoon, but that's just what I've heard.

In reality cotton provides filtration that equivalent to a coffee filter or T-shirt would. (50 micron particle size, not near enough to stop bacteria).

cotton fever is fucking horrible. waste of dope. just use your own spoon and fresh water/cotton every time if you can

Thanks Tommyboy...That part i got...Was wondering about the feeling it gives...I mean, ive had what i thought was a dirty shot before, when ive been impecable with hygiene. Could it have been cotton fever? I have only ever in my 20 years of IVing used either cottonwool / cig filter or q-tip earcleaner thing....Are the symptoms similar to each other? If i remember a dirty shot is a screaming headache...Right?
