just wanna now the difference between the two........from what i understand oxycodone is associated with acetaminophene and its half life is short..................oxycontin is only oxycodone without acetaminophene with a long half life(stage release pills)....am i right????????

Nothing. Oxycontin stands for Oxycodone continuously. They are one in the same, just like tylenol is the same thing as acetaminophen.

Oxycontin does not alter the actual drug half life wise, it rather uses a binding matrix to deliver it over a period of time.

i know its the same product(oxycodone)but im confused cause here in canada theres a product called percocet witch has acetaminophen and oxycodone in it so was wondering if you got such product in usa........

Oxycontin is a brand name of extended-release medication with oxycodone only.

Oxycodone as a chemical is in no way associated with acetaminophen (paracetamol), it's just that paracetamol is used with oxycodone in various instant-release medications as it boosts oxycodone's analgesic effect.

Oxycontin is oxycodone in slow release form so it lasts longer and doesn't kick in quickly. (Sometimes referred to as ER, meaning extended release).
Some pharmaceutical companies make two different forms. Oxycontin OC and/or Oxycontin OP.
Oxycontin OC: is not available anymore in the US, not sure about anywhere else, because it's easier to abuse, it can be crushed, snorted, injected, whatever easier, whereas the new Oxycontin OP formula is supposedly "tamper proof". It contains a binding and/or filler which makes it very hard to crush or cut up the pill so it can be abused. (Though there are ways around it, search around the site for more on that)

Oxycodone comes in many forms. The most common ones off the top of my head. (And I do not know all of them at all, but I know the basic difference of some, I just wanted to explain it a little cleared and lay it all out. If others know more could you add to this post please?)

There is plan straight up oxycodone. (Sometimes referred to as OXY-IR, meaning immediate release).
This has a faster kick in, but doesn't last as long. This can be crushed or cut and can be snorted or eaten for a better high (see search engine for posts about this)
There is also oxycodone with acetaminophen, known as percocet. (I personally don't think these work as well, tho some people feel the tylenol helps it work better. Just not for me I guess).

There is Oxycodone HCL. and this comes to my questions: What is that? Is there a difference between Ocycodone 5mg vs Oxycodone HCL 5mg? I might put this question as a new thread if I don't get any responses because this seems to be an older post.

Hydromorphone83, I hopes that helped clarify a little, it seemed like you were a little backwards with which contained tylenol and which one didn't. Better late than Never!

Cheers! Vader :)

Also in Canada, there is OXY-IR 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg tablets which contain no tylenol just pure Oxycodone.
Its the same in the US. Theres also 15mg and 30mg. They are called roxycodone, but they as well as percocet and oxycontin are all oxycodone. The only difference is percocet contains tylenol and oxycontin is an extended release form of oxycodone.

All oxycontin is oxycodone, but only some oxycodone is oxycontin. Oxycodone can manifest itself alone (roxicodone, Oxy-IR), or in a time release like OxyContin. It's found with APAP (Percocet), Ibuprofen (percodan), as a liquid solutions for oral, and IV use.

This is spot on, other than that percodan is oxycodone with aspirin, not ibuprofen.

Theyre coming out with 0xyNEO in canada soon, hard to crush and gels up when mixed with water

Of course they are....Just another way for people to fuck up their veins. They're going to attempt to shoot it anyways.

In that case, if they are equal to the OPs we get here, I have already IV'd these successfully. Not nearly as clean as the original brand names however.

This may be a stupid question...BUT...Vader mentioned Oxycontin OC, which isnt available in the US anymore. I've heard lots of people talk about "the old formulation", and I think I understand that it is an extended release, but without the binders or coating or whatever that make the new formulations more difficult to abuse.
What I have (Im looking at the lit that came with my Rx now) is oxycodone 30mg imm rel tablets. What is the difference between this and the "old kind", like whatI Vader mentioned, aside from mine being immediate release? Is there some sort of coating on what I have as well??

Macd, what you have is Oxycodone, it's for faster relief but shorter term than the OxyContin brand, which is for longer lasting periods but takes longer to kick in.

The difference in structure, which I think is your main question? Is the OC OxyContin does have a coating on it. But I am not 100 percent sure about how exactly it can be broken down, if I remember correctly I think I could easily crush it once I removed the coating. But I seriously only did that once or twice before I started getting the OP version. (and yea, the OC formula is no longer available in US)
Whereas the oxycodone, doesn't have a coating. You can crush it very very easy. You can chew it with no problem. And again it's shorter acting but immediate release.
I hope that helped. You can message me if you have more questions, but I'm sure someone else who remembers the OC band better might add more, if they could..
I actually don't really know if there is much more of a difference, but I'm no expert, that's just my experience with the two pills.

Yeah the original OC's had an outer layer you could just wet and scrape or suck off. Then I would use warm water to break it down. The oxycodone 30mg IR pills you have can just be crushed, add water, and filter with a cotton. No additional preparation is needed. Make sure not to heat the pills as this will cause binders and fillers getting into your solution. I just use warm water.

Thanks, themd and vader!
So is it safe to assume that what I have (in the US) is about the best one could hope for? I really appreciate the replies. I've been wandering around this site by chance for a long time. I realize that this conversation is no big deal to many, but I love the feeling of brother/sisterhood that comes with talking to non-judgmental peers like yourselves :)
