what bands WOULD you like to see? any era - dead or alive

Not so much who, as who & when:

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Live Rust era
Bob Dylan - when he went electric and people were calling him Judas
Van Morrisson - If he ever did Astral Weeks without fucking Jazzing it up
The Doors - when Jim was (relatively) sober
REM - first few albums
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours era
Velvet Underground - anytime except the reunion / when they got rid of Lou
Arcade Fire - anytime - already seen them twice, but I'd go every day if they were on

Although not in the eras that your talkin bout from this list i've seen
REM
Dylan
Neil Young n Crazy Horse
Van Morrison .

Oh yeah n they were all memorable performances if they were shite i wouldn't have bothered mentioning it !

^^ Talking of Lemmy,I would love to see Motorhead live and hear them play Ace of Spades and Bomber fucking loudly.

not a band, but I wish I'd been there.

Beatles in Hamburg. Not any of the shit 20 minute gigs they did once they were famous.

oh please.

If you have nothing sensible to say Ismene I suggest you sit on your hands..

If they ran in shouted 'help' ( out of tune ) and ran out again that would do me.

Back up polka - Are you some 15 year old little girl or something? I like music to be well-played and have some passion to it. I couldn't give a tinkers cuss about 4 celebrities going through the motions for 20 minutes. The music is what's important - not the celebrity.

The beatles live were always pretty shit to be honest. So was Lennon - have you seen Live in NYC? It's fucking lousy. Toronto wasn't much better. Macartney is a bit better as long as the band are good - he was shite in the 80's and 90's but a bit better with the band he's with now. George was good at the concert for Bangladesh but shit everafter.

Not according to me graddad, ma and her sister (rip all) who saw them unpteen times before they hit the big time. Amazing according to them

I gotta say that I'd have loved to have seen them hammering out raw rock and roll as teenagers (or youths at any rate) hopped up to the max on pharmaceutical speed for ten or eleven hours at a time in a stinking underground bar full of prostitutes and gangsters.

I loved them as a child, went off them as a teen, returned to them in my late 20s and now have more love for them and awe at what they did than ever before. People used to say of Michelangelo, in fact I think he may have said it himself, that what he was doing as a sculptor was releasing something which was already inside a piece of rock. It was there already and he was a channel for it. I feel almost the same about the Beatles, that they were writing melodies with such popular appeal that they were releasing something which existed inside us anyway.

I dunno how good they'd have been live towards the end, though, I get pissed off with people talking near me during gigs, never mind 75% of the audience screaming at the top of their lungs from start to finish.
