what exactly are closed eye visuals?

Ok, ive tripped 3 times on shrooms. My first time was on 5.5 grams dried psilocybe cubenesis. I experienced pronounced open eye visuals. But when i closed my eyes, id see things in my "minds eye" , but isnt this more like imagining? i mean it seemed really vivid. Or are closed eye visuals what is overlaid on top of what your eye sees with your eyes closed (close your eyes and focus on the red background of your eyelids). cause ive never had any visuals overlaid on my eyelids upon closing my eyes while trippin.

EDIT: maybe i mis worded it. i shouldnt have referred to it as "imagining it". usually they just happen to me to, but its in my mind's eye, not a physical sensation on my real eye.

DMT will do it.
I had some fractals last night on a gram of super strong mushrooms with my eyes closed.
It was pretty sweet. Saw all kinds of closed eye stuff. It's kinda like neon.
Open eye visuals were rocking.
Faces everywhere and eyes and shit. Funny beach video floating around here too had me laughing my ass off.

Sometimes you'll get them like visions, other times like images, other times like moving fractals or colors...
it all depends on what you did.

It's never really like I imagined them. They usually really happen.

If you do some DMT you'll go on a closed eye rollercoatser.

iv been in a completely dark room alone on some mushrooms and mushroom extract 5gs worth of excellent quality fungus. I could see the room I was in with my eyes shut, the walls were mostly dark blue and neon green colors alot of dots. It didnt last long cause my atention span was like a 4 year old. I really recommend the extraction if you have enough material, its really clean and comes on fast.

Usually I see colored patterens, swirling, smoke, some times ill see spades, circles, eyes, skulls and other shapes with closed eye visuals

Take it easy everyone

OEV: creeping shadows, objects seeming to perpetually move in place, breathing walls, changing hues, more pronounced details, geometric fractal-like patterning, spacial distortions of distance and size, richer textures, and of course tracers and motion trails.

CEV: infinite canvas, dynamic and engulfing geometric/abstract patterns, sense of flying/floating/falling through space, vivid hallucinations of seemingly real objects/places/events, visual contact with other-worldly beings, visions of turbulent storms.

Part synaesthesia, part spontaneous visualization of imagination including from the subconscious, part hypnagogia, part apophenia? :)

Cannabis for me produces dream-like closed eye visions, much like enhancing the "mind's eye" imagination. Mushrooms also do this for me, with the ability for fully immersive voyages at the higher doses.

2C-X on the other hand is much more likely to cause closed eye "visuals" more like the visualizer on a music player-- laser patterns against a black void, or swirling colors in a sea of noise.

For my CEV(closed eye visuals) are th colors and shapes and anything you see when you close your eyes! sometimes i personally like them more the OEV(open eyed visuals)

CEV vary from patterns and colors with your eyes closed to seeing a complete different world (kinda like a dream)

On 4-HO-MET I always get really intense CEV's, it often starts with loads of colors and geometric figures, these figures become more and more complex and in the end makes a pattern. Hold it long enough, and you will experience "brain movies"

Very much ^this. OEVs are mundane eye-candy that soon lose novelty. Oh, the walls are breathing. Great. I've seen that before. CEVs OTOH are fluid, everychanging, have massive 3-dimensional depth, are lit with colours I'm pretty sure don't actually exist in the real world, fractal like in detail that I can zoom in on and manipulate. On LSD and aMT they seem to be mathematical and geometric, on mushrooms they tend to be closer to things in the real world, more organic.

Michael1922 they're not imagined as such. They are actually seen. Not with my eyes obviously, but by something that's capable of seeing in a way my eyes are not. It's difficult to explain, but they are more 'real' and intense than anything I've seen in the real world. The album cover here is as near as some have got but still only a very basic approximation. Luke Brown would be very close. Further thoughts on this thread.
