Is kava kava an MAOI?

It is a MAOI-B... although a weak one.

The kavalactone Kavain is responsible for this.

Google Kavain. It is disputed as the cause of euphoria that kava produces.

Tried Kava Kava a few times, I don't really know if it did much for me at all. I was taking Paxil and Xanax at the time, though, so the effects may have been blunted.

It is VERY weak. I probably wouldn't mix it with high amounts of any other drug IMO.
Although lots of people have without negative effects.

As stated, it's has extremely weak MAOI-b activity. To repeat others (although you didn't ask), I would avoid mixing it with other substances unless you know exactly what you're doing.
