I sometimes get a bit nauseous when using Kratom, so I recently took 6mg of Ondansetron (Zofran) with some quality Bali Kratom and I was suprised to find that the Kratom felt a noticeable amount stronger than usual. I have somewhat of a tolerance to Kratom atm, and need about 20 grams to feel full effects. With the Ondansetron + Kratom combo, it feels like I can achieve the same effects as 20 grams with 12-15 grams. I have done this three times now. I've read that Ondansetron can negate some effects of opioid withdrawals and can help lower or prevent tolerance build-up, but I've never seen anything about its effects when taken with Kratom.

Has anyone else ever tried this combo or heard of it before? There happen to be any Kratom users around that by chance have some Ondansetron/Zofran laying around to give a try?

You probably just enjoyed the kratom more because you didn't feel the nausea. If kratom has any SNRI action (think I might have heard that before) then the ondansetron may have minimized that letting the more relaxing opioid effects dominate.

Finally if you haven't read up on "less is more" with kratom before, then you might just have found out how it works for yourself. Kratom has a complex alkaloid profile with both opioid agonists and antagonists, so increasing the dosage doesn't always increase the positive effects.

When I had no tolerance, I was taking 8 grams at a time and that did the job but at this point, I require more and the "less is more" potential aspect of this is not a factor in this particular case. I'm very experienced with Kratom and know all about itdown to many of the details about specific alkaloids just for the note.

I do suppose that what's happening is possibly just "letting the more relaxing opioid effects dominate" as you've suggested, but it seems like that wouldn't really be all there is to it. Who knows though... that's why I'm trying to see if anyone else has ever tried this combo hehe.

Mitragynine and 7-OH-Mitragynine are both metabolized by phase II pathways and Ondansetron is a P450 substrate with no inhibiting nor inducing traits so that won't have anything to do with it and it must be 5-HT3 antagonistic action. The only thing that seems feasible is not feeling the nausea so feeling the goodness.

I'm going to agree with allegator, it's more than likely because the Zofran killed the nausea.

Although everybody's different, either way count yourself lucky. :)
