Funny you should mention the 'alien' presence. I find that if I close my eyes, disengage from my surroundings and start using Golden Dawn astral travel techniques then it can bring truly outstanding and immersive results. It's something I've not sat down and planned really; the mood has just taken me once or twice when I've been under the influence.
I won't go into it too much as I try and keep the occult out of BL as much as possible, but I'd say MXE is definitely a useful tool for anybody interested in that sort of practice.
Before anybody starts laughing or thinking I'm crazy, just to be clear I don't believe in the objective reality of any of this and I approach it from the angle of a curious skeptic in the manner prescribed by Robert Anton Wilson (and before him Aleister Crowley, though Crowley was notoriously difficult to pin down on these matters). All of which is ultimately unimportant anyway, as the experience is a 'truth' in itself. And all that.
