Buprenorphine use can have an outcome of "lowering" tolerance...possibly.

Beuprenorphine,Subutex, Suboxone... it seems, might have an effect on lowering opiate tolerance.

Most people already know that one of the effects of opiate dependecy is that it induces the production in the liver of the enzymes that metabolize (the oxy) so that the (effective)duration of the mediction decreases with time. Its been suggested that the use of subutex can lower tolerance , if one uses it and refrains from their original medication for a while.
But I have seen numerous people report stories simlilar to..."my tolerance skyrocketed when i started on those subs." or " dont start subs unless you have lots of money to waste on your DOC when your tolerance skyrockets".

Well my tolerance goes down while on bupe but thats becuase the amont of bupe I take (6mg daily) translates to less heroin than I do when I use. I don thtink it has to do with the drug itself personally..I think it's the dose you are taking it at.

If you have a mild opiate habit and start dosing 24mg bupe daily..your shit is gonna shoot through teh roof.
 
I agree with ms4104. These docs are putting ppl on high doses messing them up. It should start at 1 mg and go from there. Instead of dosing them till the junkie says it's ok! They want to feel high, can't help it. So they end up on stupid amounts which then increases the tolerance to anything else. But if used correctly just to help them stop wd, it would do what you said. However, in the whole money making scheme of dispensing fees, they will do what's good for their wallet and not the patient.
 
Lol yeah yo.. I went to my doc tellin him I was a IV H user..and he gave me 24mg daily!! Then a few years later I had been on methadone (80mg daily) and I got back on bupe.. he prescribed 4x 8mg daily!~!!@! but I stabalized at 12mg from the methadone..

I dunno what these docs are thinking.. but honestly hes a nice dude who seems to care somewhat.. he doesnt rape you on the money..even if you have no insurance its 100 a visit..but hes one of hte only docs I know that takes insurance and shit and is a walk in no appointment
 
I think you probably pegged it there.... but my doc didnt say anything about lower doses of Beup. Actually, like you said, he prescribes just about as much as I need. Not complaining about that...just trying to figure out if it is true, even when at a relatively higher dose of of beup.

it all depends on what dose you take and how many times you take it daily.. i think it has lowered my tolerance a little bit but like somebody esle said its cuz my equal dose
DOC would be way higher... but do you guys also think the fact that its a partial antagonist would have anyting to do with it..?
 
I have had similar expieriences with bupe too. If im usiing and my tolerance shoots up real high i go on subs for a while to lower the H tolerance. I mean there is still a tolerance but its not as high. Low dose is the way to go though.

I think the point of high dose bupe is for its blocking properties. I've read (on bluelight) that it takes 4 - 8 mg to saturate receptors and achieve this effect.
 
not surprising seeing as bup acts as a partial agonist, and most recreational opiates are full agonists.
