Hey people. ive been a drug user for 3 or 4 years now, started off with weed, then going raves getting battered off my eyelids ect ect same old story aha.. had a bit of a rocky road with ketamine for a year, maybe a lit longer, and although i love the drug, i rarley use it because i went way overboard and developed a pretty serious habit i had to brush off, sucessfully came off it, and now its unaccessable anyway so probably for the best lol! nowadays i just usualy drink and smoke weed, and when i take uppers its only when the time is right and everyone else is feeling the vibe. when i can obtain valium i take a couple before i sleep or late evening and just sit and smile, or after a banging party... but now i have access to oxycontin. i tried it once with little experience with opiates, codeine once or twice but wasnt my thing. Now ive taken oxy 4 times in total, mainly by myself, over the space of about 25 days. each time about 25mg. one night took 40mg. i realy do like it, and i have a real soft stop for downers.. + railing a nice big line of it, mmm :P.... i love snorting and the euphoria off of it is amazing.... thing im worried about tho is getting hooked, even a little bit, i wanna be able to enjoy the drug and treat myself. but everytime i think of getting some i get this mad feeling of paranoia in my gut that the drug is gonna turn on me, and that ill like it too much. plus the second time i took it, i had trouble sleeping that night, then i threw up the morning after, and that still didnt put me off from it and i took it again, and i very rarley throw up.. wierd. i was thinking of getting some for saturday, got a gig friday so was just gonna chill out saturday and get a nod on, but before i do i have a couple questions to ask.

1. is it realy worth experimenting with opioids/oxy in the first place? i have a job, and a small career in music. got a good relationship with family & friends, and to be honest a hell of a lot to loose.

2. whats the comparison of addiction of oxy to valium.. cause i seem to be able to keep my valium dosage under control.

3. ive heard opiates can change a person very quickly, and with oxy.. once or twice and your hooked without realising.. how much truth is in that?

sorry if ive babbled a bit. first post and im pretty sure ive kept within the rules :)
hope you lot can provide some experienced insight.
thankyou! peace and love people ☮ + ♥

You seem to be an all around garbage head like me.
Let me ask you this then: what do you expect to accomplish in developing a serious opiod addiction?

No one here is going to tell you yes.

opiates are extremely addictive. there's a good chance of developing a bad habit or even becoming addicted/dependent. you may feel out of energy and irritable if you don;t have it. watch for that sign. if it gets to that point just stay away. many of us wish we never used opiates at all as they have taken so much time, money, friends/loved ones, possessions, and opportunities away from us. very rarely does one use these types of chemicals without developing some sort of behavioural issue and it seems you may have the predisposition or tendencies.

check yourself, your playing with fire. opiates can fuck your life up real good mate.

now people are going to tell you that it's perfectly fine....

IMO benzos are much easier FOR ME, to control my usage. I of course love benzos but if I were to take a Xanax today, and not be able to get one for another month, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I've been addicted to them, but I've also used them with discretion without winding up with a habit. With opiates/opioids, it's a whole other story. Once I use heroin, or oxy, I feel like I'm just living for the next time I can get high again. If I have the money to finance it, things will go okay for a while, I'll grow a dependence, but be able to function normally as long as I have access to the drug. But when I run out of funds, then it becomes a big problem, because I'm desperately trying to maintain on a habit I simply cannot afford.

The fact is, it is not worth the risk of fooling around with opiates, because if you really like them, chances are you're going to start using them more than you currently would like to envision yourself using them. It becomes so easy to break through barriers of what was once unnacceptable to becoming a normal part of you're routine. If you told me six years ago I'd be shooting heroin by the time I turn nineteen, I would never have believed it, but sure enough that happened.

There's been a lot of threads posted around here recently with the same kind of basic question of "how to use opiates and avoid addiction/consequences". IMO, it's a very hard feat to do. It's not just because they feel so damn good, it also has to do with the attached stigma that comes with opiate use, as well as a faulty legal system that sees opiate users as grandma killing sociopaths. The way I see it in this day and age, even occasional opiate use will eventually burn you somewhere down the line. If its not physical dependancy, or an overdose from taking too much or mixing them with other CNS depressants, than it will be some kind of legal issue.

That being said, the only sure way to avoid developing dependancy and tolerance, is to use once or twice a week. Also only get high one time on the day that you do get high. The way I first got a habit, was through using heroin multiple times a day for about four days. I had gotten cocky because I found that I really could use once a day for a week and not face withdrawals. But once I started re-dosing throughout the day, the dependency kicked in, as my brain became dependent at receiving xx amount of heroin at xx time of day.

glad ive posted this thread. it's pretty obvious so far that i shouldnt be messing with opioids at all, and yes your right. two weeks ago i last took it, thought about that experience fairly regularly since. this is why its been scaring me... the horror stories are true aha. here in the uk we dont get much oxy at all either so no one knows much about it from first hand experience, or even second hand.. never even met a heroin junky or been friends/ associated with a heavy opioid user. so yeh.. very glad i posted this

Yeah dude, I mean if you can stop now and not look back that would be awesome. The fact that you have a general fear about the whole thing is good too. After the second or third time I used heroin, I pretty much didn't care about how often I ended up on using it. I had another friend though, that continued to use it recreationally for a while, but he was clearly afraid of dependancy and he was able to give it up without having to suffer withdrawal. It can be done, so good luck.

And in case the worst happens and you do find yourself using more oxy, bluelight is a great place for information on all drugs, and a lot on oxycodone. It's always good to at least know about the drug your doing, if you're going to keep using it.

This may sound irresponsible but seriously just have a think about your access/availability to oxy.

If you can get it consistantly and/or reliably, I would say definitely STAY AWAY. Opiates seem to have an insidious ability to make a person addicted without them having any clue it's happening.

Personally, the only reason i'm probably not addicted to it is because I can't get it.

If, however, it pops up as an infrequent (and I mean once every few months sort of thing) treat, take it and enjoy.

i fucking hate this idea that opiates are so desirable that if you develop a taste for them, you'll inevitably lose control and get addicted.
it sounds like drug war just-say-no propaganda...

but it's true. it happened to me.

what's that saying..."when you can quit you don't want to. when you want to quit, you can't"

i'm not saying it is that simple, but i fucked around with opiates for 3 years before i got addicted.
7 years later, i'm still addicted, with no realistic end in sight. i'm not saying it's inevitable, but there is a reason people warn you about this kinda shit.
once you're in, you're fucking in and stopping is more than just a bit of determination. i can't be fucked scoring sometimes, but i don't have a choice - if i don't use, i become incapacitated with sickness. too sick to go to work, too sick to cope.
if you have the foresight to question it now, i suggest you be very mindful of all these people's warnings. we made the same mistakes you can still avoid.

check yourself, your playing with fire. opiates can fuck your life up real good mate..

yeh, see im closed eyed to this part of the drug world. opoiods realy are the big boys tho aha!
as ive said ive got a lot to loose. im just being greedy, wanting to get high, somthing more then valium (wich by the way is the only benzo i can aquire)
defintley pushing me more and more towards just disregarding the thought of being able to have safe fun on it.
ive never tried kratom, and a friend told me that he think it would be my kind of thing, so i might order some of that instead for saturday...
Thanks for the responses so far people. bluelight was definatley the right place to come to! :)

Yeah, I think a major problem with things like oxycodone, is that a lot of people start fucking around with it and end up getting physically addicted or at least psychologically, and then there comes a point where oxy isn't available, or you can't find it anymore, and then you turn to street opiates (heroin) because it is pretty readily available and very cheap. I, and a few friends of mine, are the only people that started using heroin first. every rehab I've gone to, all the heroin addicts were originally using oxy (often had been prescribed it ligitimately for a surgery of some kind)and had become hopelessly addicted, and eventually had to turn to heroin.

Now a lot of these pharmaceutical company's are creating extended release formulas of drugs like oxycodone and oxymorphone, with much harder to break time release "technology". The only thing i see to come from this is more people turning to heroin, as the process of microwaving, freezing, dissolving in alchohol etc becomes way too complicated and time consuming.

i knew that oxycontin was in the same category as heroin, but didnt know it was that similar!
always vowed to myself i'd never touch heroin, just for the bad name it has gathered, same with crack, methamphetamine and PCP.
ive never had a physical addiction to anything, and i definatley dont want one!! as i said i had an incredibly strong mental addiction to ketamine.. but this shit is a very different kettle of fish,... i just love downers too much, ive taken k, GHB, GBL, Valium, xanax (once), codeine.. and now oxycontin... and the one i remember enjoying most was oxy.
which, after everything everybody's said. Im going to try detter myself from at all costs aha! it scares me just thinking that i enjoyed it that much.. so best to stay away eh?!

Yeah, in fact, I'm pretty sure that heroin and oxycodone are pretty equi-potent mg for mg, but the price is just a lot different, so people that use heroin often have to take a lot of oxy to get high, if they're doing more than a couple bags a day.

Here in the states, OxyContin is known as "hillbilly heroin" . I don't really know why, as it's actually a safer drug to be addicted to in some ways (80mg is always 80mg, whereas one bag of heroin might have 100mg of heroin, and another 10mg with 90mg of cut), and it's also a lot more expensive. They should rename it "suburban smack" IMO

suburban smack's got more of a ring to it aha! rolls off the tounge better. :P

and if heroin is the cheaper one, doesnt that kinda say its a bit more dirty anyway?
anyway im gonna go smoke a joint and concentrate on music for a while, and stop thinking about getting mashed.
as the title sais i think ive just got an all round addiction to downers.. as im guessing many many many people do.

Yes stay away. It's not a road you wanna go down.
As you said you've had prior addictions & you find opiates enjoyable.
As an indicator of the different nature of this beast I can give you a lil personal experience.
You mentioned crack cocaine & methamphetamine as things you would be against.
Having used both of the above & opiates as well I found meth &/or crack an easy kick by comparison.
Personally I find kicking meth or crack to be a walk in the park compared to opiates.
Perhaps that will help you get some more perspective on the subject.
As I'd used pretty much every class of drugs in large quantities & never had a hundredth of the issues
kickin any other drug that I experience with opiates.
Still working on kickin the opiates actually.

Hope that helps give you a bit more perspective on the issue.
As someone who'd done most every substance in excess & had no problems kickin any of them opiates surprised me.
So in conclusion your most likely setting yourself up for a world of hurt & possibly fucking your life right up.

My recommendation would be to best stay away. I hope your finding the same conclusion.

Edit: Apparently I posted slow & you got some responses in between but this still applies.

hmmmm, thankyou very very much for your insight! thats actualy given me a bit of a sinking feeling... i think ive got the motivation to stay away to be honest.
and posting this could be doing my future a hell of a lot of good! i knew that somthing just wasnt right, with me wanting a little bit more.
only taken it 4 times but it popping into my head an awful lot. and kind of purposley spacing out when i took it so that i didnt develop any sort of habit, and that itself is a habit forming... but thats how you fall, scary shit guy's, scary shit!

lol your so cute.when you say i don`t intent on being addicted. he he. but wait... did I want to be addicted ...shit I can`t remember. Maybe my huge addiction to opiates I did not want, is getting in the way of my memory. Jokes.. Just say no bud...
i dont intent on developing any sort of addiction aha. i just wanna know if its safe to have my fun with it realy.
