what benzos does grapfruit juice potentiate?

I had 15 10mg temazepams & I had 8 2mg diazempams (could onyl get the crappy 2mg ones, I dont even know why they make these pills. a 2mg valium wouldnt do anything to anyone)
I basically feel amost nothing. but i can basically get more of an effect from my first cigarette in the morning.

anyways just wondering if GFJ only potentiates valium?
what about temazepams?
these are the 2 benzos I usually get. I havn had Xanax for ages, but does it help with that too?
what others?

Ive also had 5mg of my anipsyhotic Zyprexa (olanzapine)
seems that the anipsyhotics evebn in small doses are way more sedating that large amounts of benzos.
theres no medium either to sedating or not sedating enough.

anyways one of the receptors zyprexa effects is the H1 receptor making it also a sedating antihistamine.
im not sure if antihistamines actually potentiate benzos or id it simply adds to the sedation

Grapefruit juice (white, or real grapefruits haha) inhibits CYP3A4 as far as I am aware, which metabolises alprazolam and temazepam as well as diazepam, so it would certainly work for that. Not sure if it inhibits any other enzymes though or if many other metabolised by CYP3A4..

Some antihistamines do actually potentiate drugs some drugs, in that they inhibit the enzyme involved in their metabolism, especially the older more sedating ones (chlorpheniramine and diphenhydramine inhibit CYP2D6 for example, which metabolises quite a few opioids such as morphine, oxycodone and pethidine.. but no benzos AFAIK) The added sedation helps with the overall opioid or benzo feeling too, but this isn't technically "potentiation".

Note: I am not a psychopharmacology or liver enzyme expert, am teaching myself more at the moment hah so if someone more knowledgeable wants to chip in that would be great!

There is a chart here which is pretty useful I find but as SpunkySkunk347 pointed out it is far from complete.
 
Does the GFJ have to be white?
Ive only seen the white mixed with another colour. cant remember which one.

but ive seen the yelow GFJ. is that OK?
 
Ummm.. no idea. Always read white not pink/red. Not sure about yellow, sorry!!
 
So when i take my perscribed Temazepam if was to buy grapefruit juice from morissons this will boost the affect of the drug.

(white grapefruit juice that is)
 
That's the consensus. Drink the WGFJ about an hour before taking the benzodiazepine as the mechanism of action is blockage of a liver enzyme (drinking the juice after wouldn't have the same effect as the drug would already be in the liver getting metabolized).

I personally haven't tried it, however.
 
hi, just my personal experience- pink gfj wrks just as well as a potentiator, i always get 100%, natural, nothing added... with klonopin, hydro, oxycodone.. i've had a good deal of experience with and without gfj. for me it really makes a difference especially now my tolerance is, sadly, pretty high :(

Valium. Grapefruit juice lengthens the half life of desmethyldiazepam Valiums main active metabolite. So basically you can count on it to really give you the slows if you take it with valium.

That's why they have the label on the bottle that says dont drink grapefruit juice. Grapefruit juice acts on the CY receptors as does diazepam.

yeah I think they had the white & pink together at the store but havnt seen just the white.
does anyone know if it's only the white stuff?
..i suppose i can do my own research but im feeling lazy today
 
GFJ potentiates almost all benzodiazepines. The only ones that aren't potentiated by GFJ are the 3-hydroxy family of benzos. These benzo's are temazepam, lorazepam, lormetazepam, oxazepam, and a couple of other more rare benzodiazepines that belong to the same family.
 
Would grapefruit juice potentiate thienodiazepines such at etizolam?

damn temaze if one of the ones I often use. might be gettin 20 valiums later tonight. this time im gunna wait till tommorow than taken em an hr after drinking GFJ. the store near by has a mix of pink & white

Ive onyl seen the ones that are kinda white in colour. like a very light colour. cant remember exactly. but it wasnt straight white. just a light colour
im sure they have yellow & maybe orange too
 
I bought sme GFJ today. its not white white. but its more a very light dull yellow. i think the colour is baish.
it was the lightest coloured GFJ that was sold. is white GFJ actually white or is it just areally light dull yellow?

how much do I need to drink? (I have 1.5L, I want it to last a few doses if possible)
what's the minimum amount of time after I drink the GFJ can I dose the valium? (I dont wanna be waiting around for an hr, geez. if i wanna get high, I wanna get high now!)

Unfortunately that 40min - and hour is necessary for the juice to get into your system and start to metabolize. If you don't wait, there won't be any action on the enzyme in the liver yet, and you're wasting the juice / missing the point.

Always take potentiators first, and allow ample time for onset before consuming the affiliated other stuff.

K-pins are NOT in the 3-hydroxy family of benzos. They are apart of the 7-nitro benzo family. Closely related as both families are predominantly hypnotic and anticonvulsant in activity. Although they have anxiolytic properties (good ones too), they are far more powerful anticonvulsants and hypnotics. There are exceptions of course (lorazepam is a superb anxiolytic, while clonazepam is a weak hypnotic, etc).

So you have nothing to worry about as grapefruit juice will potentiate clonazepam (K-pins).
