Ketamine w/ Tramadol (mixed purposes)

Hello folks, got a quick safety question for ya:

I have the offer of a bit of free Ketamine, but I have recently been prescribed tramadol by my pain specialist. Given that it has a subprofile as an SNRI, I'm curiously concerned regarding a potential negative interaction.

I've found evidence of a study that mixing K and tramadol is beneficial for patients with recent abdominal surgery for maintaining pain. Online drug interaction checker doesn't show anything major (aside from an increase in sedation, but this is not a new one to pop up for my meds / combinations), but I know that isn't the be all - end all resource.

http://www.anesthesia-analgesia.org/content/104/4/912.short - Here's the aforementioned study, however mg/kg dosing isn't mentioned for either chemical.

I know to not mix my usual favorites, MDMA and LSD, with tramadol (and to leave ~1/2 of a week after using tram before using a serotonergic drug). I've had no issues with taking Oxycodone IR on top of the tramadol, but then again tramadol also is a mild opiate so that makes sense. (Ketamine also has mild activity on opiate receptors, but I've found it doesn't interfere when taken on top of suboxone, which I believe I have read warning of.)

Any input is appreciated, and of course personal experience would be most lovely.

Thanks all,
Cheers. :)

Quick edit: To clarify: the tramadol is prescribed for pain management (and is actually doing reasonably well, but it's a warm day today..), and the Ketamine is to have some fun with - hence the "mixed purposes" in the title.

For those searching in the future:

Reduced effect. I only did a small amount as an allergy test of sorts, but my friend (insufflating the same amount) had a quite enjoyable experience. I was sober for the most part, with only a bit of "oddity" and little to no euphoria. I'd say it was roughly 50mg or so (which for me w/ no tolerance is plenty to start feelin' fuzzy, of course more bumps would follow, but I decided to not waste material that could be more useful to others / a better time).

^ interesting. I am on venlafaxine (also SNRI) and never noticed a reduced effect - but maybe the effect was reduced and I just didn't realise (I used to have quite the ketamine tolerance hah...)

50mg should have pretty pronounced effects for someone with no tolerance...

I took around 150 mg of Tramadol before and felt nothing but a slight body high... of course it might have been placebo. I'm also not even a Opiate user, tramadol was honestly my first Opiate I have ever taken. I heard Ketamine is pretty euphoric so I don't think adding Tramadol would make much of a difference.

Ketamine certainly can be euphoric, but in an entirely different way to opioids. Entirely.

To be honest, I wouldn't mix the two, just because they are very different sorts of highs and best enjoyed individually IMO.. ketamine and psychedelics is a whole different story though :)

Ketamine and alcohol makes me feel v dysphoric.. really not sure it mixes well with that many drugs to be honest. Stims/MDMA/psychs can all work though (especially psychs..)

Maybe ketamine and Cannabis can be enjoyable as cannabis goes well with anything.

Ahhh yeah. I barely count cannabis haha :D

I guess I'm a bit of a purist with my ketamine. It always comes out during a sesh, so is certainly mixed a lot, but it's such an awesome drug in it's own right that it is really enjoyable on it's own..

I just love mixing cannabis with any drug and alcohol. Then again I haven't taking enough drugs to have a mindset such as yours... to all his own (:

I've definitely enjoyed mixing an opiate high with a ketamine high, however this question was in regards to honest safety. Tramadol is my current Rx from my pain doctor, and I want to be sure I'm not doing anything to damage myself.

In any case, I've found K goes well w/ everything as well. Especially MDMA and LSD (all 3 are nice too ;)).

AFAIK.. no damage. But I am not an expert. My psychopharmacology book arrives with my parents tomorrow, I'll report back!! :D

K, acid, MDMA = bliss. All you need is some nitrous to make things perfect!

Sweet! :)

Trips and I found a pair of articles online where they used (for someone my weight ~160lbs or ~73Kg) ~225mg tramadol and ~25mg ketamine to relieve post-op abdominal pain with greater success than using just the tram. Reduced doctor interaction necessary, less actual meds used, but a greater likelihood of psychedelia haha.

That said, for the bump I did, it was extremely mild. I took a similarly sized bump from the same batch and it gave me significantly greater (better) effects.
