Man Nirvana are so fucking overrated and glorified. Fuck Nirvana.

I totally agree, I have never listened to them, I couldn't even name a single track of theirs, I think they were some kind of emo suicide goth whingers or something like that, no talent just music industry hype or something.

I put them in the same category as that m & m white rapping dude, a total wank.

They were an average band, if that. I'm sure they would of put on a great show live, but putting on one of their CD's is tedious imo. They weren't emo, or goth, or whingers, but fuck me they're idolized so much by the younger generation and it can be agitating at times. And when I say they're I mean Kurt and his overpraised quotes.

Not that surprising when you consider that music consumers are totally different than years ago. It used to take at least the minimal effort of going to the store to purchase music, now it takes a mouse click. The real test for this shitty new music will be to see how many people are still listening to it ten years from now.

Some other crap will be popular. JB v2022 or some other garbage.

I dont wanna hijack the thread but Nirvana was a great band for there time. Do they sound a little dated 20 years later? Of course they do. But if you listen to what music sounded like before nirvana and after nirvana there is no doubt that they had just as much impact on music as any of the idilozed bands from the 60s or 70s.

But I think the decline of radio over the last 10 years has really fucked up the distribution chain for rock n roll I know I live in the largest city of my state and there is litterally no new rock music station so how are kids supposed to find new bands? Yea I know the internet youtube but its just not as targeted as radio was hints more acts selling less records individually.

I tried out your theory, I spent some time listening to Bach, Mozart, some gregorian chants, some ravi shankar, then I moved on to elvis, sinatra, the who, the rolling stones, threw in some hendrix, some bob marley, the specials, sex pistols, springsteen, then i listened to a few things that happened after nirvana, and It all sounded shit in comparison, so maybe you are right, nirvana turned popular music into total crap.

Dude, there are MANY more influentual, better bands, before AND after Nirvana. Even for Grunge, they were influential but not the best of their time IMO, then again I don't like grunge.

ya like temple of the dog! greatest album of the 90s imo. Nirvana as a band really werent that special. what made them special was the fact they were different and didnt give a fuck. Look at the shitty hair metal before them, and the shitty r&b after. it all sucked. And that is why kurt died. because no matter how hard he tried, he couldnt change the fact that almost all popular music sucks.

I have no CD player in my car. I listen to the radio everyday. Popular music is 95% shit.
