Lol - silly media; I thought NPR would be better than this:
Yet that's what happened to an unfortunate young woman who had injected the increasingly popular stimulant drug called "bath salts."

stimulant drug called "bath salts."

.. facepalm

Bath salts is a relatively new problem in the world of recreational drugs.
- should read something more like Some synthetic drugs are creating a problem in the world of recreational drugs

Poor journalism, about a poor human. Who the fuck injects "bath salts" really?

If anyone is interested, this is the medical case report. I believe the nature of the problem is not the substance injected, but poor injection technique and the lack of hygiene. Consider:

On further questioning, she reported injecting bath salts 2 nights prior to developing symptoms. She also reported the injection was intramuscular because she could not obtain intravascular access.

The article should read poor injection hygeine and technique leads to complications but that would be too damn reasonable. This should be a shining example of why harm reduction is neccesary instead we get more dare style propaganda.

Why is this news, an non aseptic injection carries a risk bacteria which produce lysogenic toxins. Weather its Insulin, the principal is the same.

Some chemicals do cause massive wet desqumation when injected into some types of tissue. This applies to legit ones too. (Think promethazine as a familiar example)

IMing it was not a good idea. She had to have her arm amputated, which I didn't know until reading further into the links. That's gotta suck, especially if she really didn't do it that much.

^ I Think it'd still suck just as much, if she was injecting it every day for years.

Nobody wants to lose an arm bro!
