The five Calgary deaths were confirmed to have taken PMMA. But the four Vancouver incidents haven't had lab results published yet.

It's probably all from one bad batch though, right?

well at least they didnt just say mdma has killed again! like so many other articles would have said. the point here is adulterants are what is responsible for most of the ecstasy related deaths. meth is one of those adulterants that is often responsible whether or not it was in this case how can you be sure?

Can you link me to an ecstasy-related death that was due to the pill(s) being exclusively adulterated with methamphetamine? Methamphetamine overdose deaths are rare (it has a decent therapeutic ratio), and I've never heard of a death from oral meth use.

Meth and MDMA is a very common combination in the rave scene here, and nobody seems to be dying, even from large amounts of both.

im mot saying that overdose from taking meth would kill you like that. how much would you even have to eat? probably a bit more than a few pills right? im just saying that you cant say it didnt play a part in the death when someone takes a pill thinking its mdma and it has meth and pma in it instead. couldnt it help potentiate the symptoms? and around where i am we do not take meth with our mdma by choice. meth is just stupid imo
 
this is why i let a few close friends of mine know where i got my shit from before i take it. if i die from it because it is adulterated the ass hole that gave it to me will go down as my last action

Even if you had the new test kits it would still test up as MDMA, not everyone can afford the whole range of kits, they just usually see MDMA content and think good, the new kit makers have made the kits so much more expensive than they used to be.
 
There were pills recently in the UK MDMA + PMMA that killed quite a few people, fucking lethal combination which idiots are pressing this..

I don't know if it's someone actually adding it to the MDMA on purpose, I'm fairly certain it's simply a bi-product from a very amateur synthesis... 8)

God dammit, because of all this, I have some tested MDMA that came out instantly-ink-purple that I'm still scared shitless to take.... Ugh...

PMMA reputedly produces similar effects to PMA, but is apparently slightly more similar to MDMA in effects[1][2] and has slightly less tendency to produce severe hyperthermia, at least at low doses. Probably obvious but I'm guessing that the deceased are the ones who liked popping multiple pills per night as I did at one point (I did around 10 per night myself on a few occasions - pretty fucking stupid of me but yeah, I learned my lesson the hard way, and I'm thankful to still be breathing). Being that PMMA apparently feels/acts more like MDMA at lower doses, these guys were likely trying to chase whatever high they felt (I know I loved to do that myself once I felt that plateau starting to sink) by popping more and more, which lead to their deaths (in contrast to friends who also ingested PMMA but significantly smaller amounts). Very sad story indeed.
 
The girl who died last weekend didn't take more than one or two pills. It wasn't an overdose, something about a modest dose of (what is most likely) PMMA just didn't agree with her body. Maybe she was on SSRIs or something that provoked serotonin syndrome?

being from vancouver this scares the shit out of me. i usually never buy presses and my guy would never be the kind to give me bad drugs. makes me want to get a test kit.

I was just hypothesizing of course, she might - like you're postulating - have been on an Rx which further contributed to - possibly - PMMA's MAOI-A activity such as an antidepressant. You obviously know this girl better than me - was she petite? Perhaps that might have had something to do with it.

These greedy fucks who synthesize/press these pills should be castrated.

Even if you're just buying what appear to be molly caps, and considering where you reside, well, I'm of the opinion it would do you much more good than harm - sure it may dent your wallet if $50 is a lot - to order a complete kit.

I've bought molly caps myself, which, when taking them, I was convinced at first that I was rolling. But these caps never quite felt exactly like mdma (albeit extremely similar imo). Long story short, my suspicions were real - the caps actually contained methylone (which, ironically, is now my party/club drug of choice because I find it's the closest/safest thing I can find when comparing to pure mdma - I stopped bothering with trying to find actual mdma myself because of a similar incident as what's happening in Vancouver).

That may be true but, it's alot cheaper to have the proper testing kits than it is to bury someone. People who roll together could always take up a collection to pay for the kits.
 
Fucking adulterants is why i dont roll anymore, last 'e' i had was some 2c-x shit that felt like fucking death, and when you try to tell someone their selling bullshit you get some stupid response like "no man its ecid, e with acid in it" fucking retards!
 
An interesting thing to think about in this situation: PMMA is a drug which is being passed off as MDMA, largely because the MDMA precursor saffrole has ben heavily restricted by law enforcement, and the PMMA precursor (anesole) is not restricted.

It's almost exactly the same situation that caused deaths from methyl alcohol in illegal moonshine during prohibition. Still more eveidence of the huge and tragic failure of modern drug policy.
