Purify cocaine, thoughts?

Hello, I am new here and I've been reading through a lot of posts by now, gathering all the information I've found I now want to try a method that combines a lot of things that I encountered here, and I need someone's opinion who might have experience with it.

So I want to do an A/B Extraction. In short I'd like to do it like this:

  • Use the ammonia route to make freebase out of the cocaine
    => here comes the new part:
  • Instead of now letting the cocaine freebase dry, add toluene, shake, hereby extracting the cocaine from the water and dissolving it in the toluene.
  • Separate the toluene from the water with a separatory funnel or whatever way suits you
  • Immediately make the cocaine HCl again, from this solution, so no evaporation of the toluene!
    This way there will get nothing wasted, and if toluene is not hygroscopic (no water in it)<=> acetone(which has traces of water, bad!)
    => this can be done in 2 ways, preferring one over the other:
    1)
  • Use table salt, HCl and sulfuric acid to make HCl gas, which then can be dissolved through a hose into acetone, effectively making dry HCl gas, instead of 38% (again, no water! even better now).
  • Add this mixture to the toluene, poof, crystals!
    2)
  • Just use HCl 38%, added to acetone, and add this to the toluene, also poof but a little water so some cocaine is wasted ;)!
  • After all of this, the filtration of course, use some filter paper, and dry under a heat lamp/oven/microwave, voila! Pure cocaine with as little wasted as possible.

Another question I have for you guys, is there a way to use a pH meter to check if enough ammonia is added, and if enough HCl is added in the base->salt. So in other words: What would the pH of the cocaine have to be in the water to be completely converted to base, and is it possible to use pH in toluene to do the same for the cocaine base to salt.

It might be better to use ether instead of toluene.Ethyl Acetate or MTBE might also work. I think cocaine's pka is 8.6 maybe a ph of 9 would be best, not sure.

Maybe it would be better just to dissolve the coke in a minimum amount of hot dry alcohol, the best would be ethanol, filter, cool and add another solvent, the best co-solvent would be ether or maybe acetone, though anything coke hcl insoluble in might work, and throw it into the freezer to recrystallize.I also wonder how recrystallizing the freebase from petroleum ether or ethanol would work, or the salt from chloroform or methylene chloride.
 

Yes I know that post, all my information I have is gathered from posts over the forum. But that post is just a simple acetone wash, I'm really going for an A/B Extraction, which is also explained by Le Junk, but he lets the freebase dry first, in my process I actually Immediately extract it and recrystallize. This is a difference and I'm trying to see what other people think about this procedure ;)

diethyl ether is a tad hygroscopic and has a solubility of 1,5g water in 100ml (room temp) => this would make the separation impossible seeing as it would dissolve all the cocaine hcl when crystallized, you would have to do a distillation. Thats why I was looking at toluene, practicly no water in it (0,0033gr in 100ml at room temp).
But could you explain why ethyl acetate or mtbe would be better than toluene for crystallization of freebase to hcl?
