in atlanta you can get free entry to the cheetah with a ticket from any sporting event in town.
just throwing that out there.
this changes everything.
Lol only in Arkansas does a five hour drive to major cities sound like an ok proposition for great sports.
That's like saying Kansas is centrally located because its in the middle of nowhere.
I do love the ozaeka, tho.
Arkansas has a weird relationship to sports. Remember that Frontline about Shiloh Christian? I didn't see much high school sports action while i was in ES because of proximity to Fayetteville, not going to a public school (or a christian one) etc, but i imagine that there is more of a Friday Night Lights scene or like when Jason Stackhouse went to Bible Camp and was playing football while this song was playing.
I guess it just depends on if a place loves what they've got. Arkansas doesn't have much but Hogs fans are wild, and everyone loves their county's best high schools. Does that make it a worse sports town than Chicago because they are lacking in the pro department?
I think it also helps sports towns if they have an inferiority complex or an axe to grind. Perhaps the Bulls are only so good because Chicagoians are always pissed about being second to New York? Is Alabama powered into the SEC top spots not just because of the Dark Lord, but because their fans are always trying to one up their hickfuck Auburn neighbors?
Perhaps that's why Atlanta is lukewarm to their lukewarm Falcons. who are you trying to one up? do you really hate New Orleans and my Saints that much? Not really. You beat Philly basically every year and I know you hate them, but what does that really matter? My little sister loves her Nuggets to beat any California basketball team because she came of age in a weird time in Denver when people started blaming the massive influx of Californians for everything they didn't like.
Sports towns. You need hate or grudges or a complex to be one.
