Ran across this (ADWD spoilers):

NSFW:
Some say Jon is reborn in fire;
Some say in ice.
Since Rhaegar is, methinks, his sire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if I follow your advice,
I think I know enough of Targs
To say that for rebirthing ice
Will work for Wargs
And would suffice.

LULZ.

they aren't even finished making season two, and word is the crew have been booked for an extended shooting season next year to film both season 3 and 4 back to back covering one book. there's also word actors are being sought for parts in season 4 already.

HBO is advertising season 2 to air in February 2012. They have even aired it on "the Buzz" or perhaps "Inside HBO". Perhaps if you check out GoT On Demand-yep just checked it-they are replaying season 1 now-after the 1st season is a quick look called "GoT:S2 in production".
all I know is that HBO IS advertising the new season in Feb.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I will-for those of you who have read the books-isn't book 5 just released or soon to be?and also,I am an English major and i LOVE sci-fi.This series was on my list I just never git around to it-so...

Honestly-should I knock out the books before season 2 starts? I love the series, and I don't want to be disappointed-in the end i WILL read the books-just a question of if I should read them NOW. ??? give it to me straight!!

I didn't catch this reading the books, but I was browsing around the Internet, and I stumbled across one of those theories that makes so much sense once you heard this.

Arya, as part of her training, learns to catch cats. One of those cats is a big black tomcat.

NSFW:
That cat is 'Balerion', the kitten that Rhaegar's daughter, Rhaenys Targaryen, loved so much.

There is another 'preview' chapter up on GRRM's site, it's a Theon Greyjoy chapter aannddd

I have no idea when it's supposed to take place. Before the end of ADWD for sure, because

NSFW:
Stannis is holding Theon as a prisoner. Asha comes to him and convinces(?) Stannis to execute Theon by the HeartTree, in front of 'the old gods'. There, does Ramsay Bolton come to kill Stannis and the escape of Asha/Theon/JeyneArya? Theon seems barely alive as it is, is this the last of him? Where are they? Of course we're not going to get a chapter for someone I actually care about, like Jon Snow, because that would give away if he was actually dead or not. Fuckers.

That chapter has caused an interesting theory about the background behind the letter in ADwD from Winterfell to the Lord Commander of Nightwatch.

NSFW:
Manderley is sent by Bolton to destroy Stannis's army. Instead, Manderley manages to ally himself with Stannis. Manderley returns back to Winterfell with Stannis's sword, Lightbringer, and tells Bolton that he defeated Stannis's forces and killed Stannis. Bolton, gloating, sends the letter to Jon at the Wall. Then, later, Manderley betrays Bolton (perhaps by opening the castle gates and letting Stannis in) and Stannis destroys Bolton and takes Winterfell.

That's why, in that chapter, Stannis tells the man going to Braavos that he might hear that Stannis has died. Stannis expects news of his "defeat" to get out.

you kids know we got this shnazzy section called words, all fancy like, where crazy stuff like books can be discussed.

or discus'd ... whatever

Oh, and in regards to "is this the last of _______" that was asked?

Remember:
NSFW:
Asha is relying on Theon not being at the kingmoot to overturn the vote. Asha wants Theon alive.

NSFW:
yes, but HOW DO THEY ESCAPE? and then after they make it to the wall, how do they escape there? back to the iron islands? steal the dragon horn? to be totally honest i thought Asha was done for when she was hit in the head with an axe. I think she's my favourite character and I want her treatment to be worthy of my favouritism ;)
