Just got given fentanl patch for fist time. Stupid been wearing 75 patch for 7 hours, and have only day offf day on PST atvthevmoment. Stupidly check it just-bonlloool read somevshitbabout it can kill you? It wad 75 patch, should ripp it off? IV coke theoment too.

Dangerous or cool , urgent response please - no idea here and nodding epic coke

75mcg? Do you understand how potent Fentanyl is? That's equivalent to roughly 7500mg of Morphine. I suggest next time cutting about .5cm thick strip and taking it out after about a minute, seeing how you feel in a few minutes, and sticking it back on if you need to. If you're really game, you can take a TINY dot of gel (no bigger than a pen or toothpick) put it on some foil, and inhale. But for fuck sakes be careful with this shit. I'm also surprised you got fent, I heard it was very rare here and generally only available in hospitals.

Thanks for the reply

the quick google showed me how dumb i was putting it straight on,

I ripped off after 10 hourss, not usre where i out i was getting so smashed. was scared to fall asleep with it on, Fuckin Iv good coke and nogging agter 15 min was a bit scary.

i wonder if I find it tomorrow? i can put it back on? or is it fucked now?

anyways feeling awesome still

^ that's not correct, it isn't that rare. i think also, that spiritfolk is wearing the patch on his skin (as it is designed for) not sublingually.
i don't know enough to answer your question, spiritfolk, but you seem...a little wasted! if you're worried, take it off bud.
play safe! :)

edit - weird, when i replied, your above response wasn't there. anyway, i'm sure you're ok...

if u're gonna sublingual. cut off a strip maybe like 1/10th of the patch, put it on ur gum for no more than 30seconds
Take it out. wait 10mins. see how u feel. if u'r not as noddy as u want to be, put it back on for another 30seconds. take out out. and then just wait.

That should be enough to make u noddy for like 2-3hrs. then redose, do the same thing. but please. PLEASE make sure u take it outta your gum after 30seconds, do not forget and nod out. U may/ U CAN die from this!

^ i've known several people to be prescribed fent patches that are niether "hard core cancer/ opie tolerance people".
it doesn't seem that unusual at all, at least amongst the chronic pain / elderly people i am familiar with.

Yeh theyre pretty common, the one time I had them I got them from my friends mum who had back surgery done, at that time she seemed pretty fine and she was still getting them, oxy40's, valium and tramadol. Also some lucky bitch that doses at my pharmacy found a pack of like 12(I think) them at St Vinnies I was jealous as. I know you can never be too careful but I think I was with fent as I never really got that high it was quite disappointing, they werent the Gel ones either, just like a nicotine patch. Do we have the Gel patches in Australia?

Glad your safe man, and yeah you sounded pretty smashed...... Im off to get some gear now :P

Oh btw I worked in a nursing home for awhile and Norspan(Buprenorphine) patches are becoming very popular, it seems almost all of the edlerly people there wear them so maybe they are taking over from fent? Afterall im sure Norspan is a lot safer. So if you get your hands on a fent patch, be safe but make the most of it! Or better yet just send it to me :P

Elderly people/ chronic pain - So that could not be construed as "Sufferring alot, takes MANY opies therefore needs a synthetic to cover the tolerance and still be effective... i.e hardcore cancer/ chronic pain << or hardcore opie heads man...

cancer people I have known were on like 150mg oxy + morph and other shit mate. So it makes sense to give people with giant tolerance a stronger PURPOSE made opie for exactly that... high tolerance.

Just because you are aware of docs willing to prescribe it doesn't mean anything.

My old man can fly a plane doesn't mean I would attempt it.... even though I would. Bad example.

;p

mmm ok...not really a debate worth having, i'm just talking about what i've seen recently. others will obviously have better information than i do. just doesn't seem particularly rare, you dig?

My grandmother was given fent patches for her back pain, never been on any other pain meds for it.. .I was surprised they went straight for it.

It was way to strong and she ripped it off and threw them out.. unfortunately I was out of the state at the time or else I'd have been a happy camper :!

You'd sublingual patches that your granny had been weaing all day? Eww...

^ I'm sure she wasn't wearing the whole box at once... unless that's why it was too strong? ;)

i'm really not well informed about why some meds are prescribed above others, but my suspicion is that fentanyl is less euphoric than oxycodone, for example.
yes, it is very powerful, but that is why it is used on patches in therapeutic microgram doses.
my understanding is that oxy was taken off the market decades ago (then marketed as eukodol) because it had a "side effect of euphoria", then rediscovered in recent times. that's big pharma for you.
fent has a reputation for being powerful, but from what i understand, not as recreational as other pharmaceutical opiates.

to quote William Burroughs, "i stole an opium suppository out of my grandmother's ass".
there is a reason why junkies are known for doing desperate shit.
to answer your question...um, i guess it depends how desperate one was feeling.
if i have enough drugs, i don't do stupid things to get drugs. if i don't have drugs...well, who knows?

Mundipharma seems to specifically 'market' Norspan for use in older patients. The marketing rules here are very strict, but whenever I see an advertisement for Norspan in one of the medicine catalogues that wholesalers provide, the people pictured are all obviously 55+ and you know that when the reps are selling it to prescribers they are pushing that use.
