South Carolina Police say Wayne Joshua Mitchell, 20,died after he ate an ounce of cocaine that was hidden in his brother’s buttocks according to a WCIV report.

Authorities plan to charge the victim’s brother 23-year-old Deangelo Rashard Mitchell, with involuntary manslaughter.

The incident happened when both brothers were in the back of a police car on November 30. The two had been arrested for trafficking.

Video from inside the police car captured a conversation between the brothers, where Deangelo pleads with his younger brother to take the cocaine in his bottom and eat it to get rid of it.

"One of us gotta do it, you the only one that don't have any strikes. ...You my little brother... I'm gonna get life," Deangelo said to Wayne.

His bother complied and ate the drugs.

When officers saw the cocaine residue on the seat where Wayne sat, Deangelo told officers that his brother swallowed cocaine. Within the hour, Dwayne struggled to breathe, bled from his mouth and died.

I agree this is trash, but isn't it obviously a bad idea to eat an ounce of blow?

Sad story, I bet his brother feels terrible.
 
^ My comment was meant as a joke/pun (albeit probably not a very funny one, but hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time).

And by that argument, based on the low oral bioavailability of blow - one could argue it's at least twice as toxic and poisonous when snorted.

Regardless of the oral BA, eating an ounce of it should kill anyone and everyone.

Straight up. In lots of places (including where I am) they don't even strip search you in holding. I got patted down in an initial search at the "scene of the crime", once before getting in the car, another pat down and they made me empty my pockets and give them everything before entering booking, and there's a bathroom anyone can use in booking. And then before going into holding they made me change into prison clothes, give them my clothes and they patted me down again. But no search where they would've found coke in my ass. In fact, if I had had drugs in there, I would've probably been able to walk out still having them.
 
In lockup in my city, they always make you do the whole "Strip // Reach down and lift your nutsacks // Drop your nutsacks and skid you dick // Bend over grab your ass spread your cheeks and give me two big coughs." People still sneak shit in a lot.

I've only had to do the dick/ass-cheek shuffle in Mexico, not in the states. Instances like this make me think that race and ecomonics were factors.

The last time I was hanging with some 2nd strikers, when the cops came, they were already long gone, hiding in bushes and shit.

Not surprising at all, and yes it sucks a lot.
 
Cocaine is not poisonous when eaten nor does it have a low oral bioavailability. It is actually active at 4.2mg orally, as that is the common dose found in a single bag of coca tea. I find cocaine disgusting and vastly inferior to methylphenidate, but when I was recently working on a project in Peru I poured a couple hundred milligrams of cocaine (probably equivalent to two standard lines, if that means anything) into a glass of water and drank it. The effects were fantastic, the only way I will ever do cocaine again.

That aside, very sad story.

33% oral bioavailability would probably be considered low by most. That's on par with swallowing your Dilaudid - a waste for most recreational users when considering the cost and other available routes of ingestion with significantly higher BAs.

That doesn't mean it's not active when taken orally. Case in point, an Rx for 1mg hydromorphone P.O: If you're opiate naive, you'll definitely be feeling something. It's just, again, a waste if you have powder. I would make the tea as well if I only had the leaves to work with whereas if I have the active alkaloid in powder form I'd most likely snort it. Would sure beat coffee by a mile as a pick me up to start your morning.

Yes 33% is a bit lower than I remembered, but it does not really matter because, like I said, it is still active below 5mg orally which is quite good. And this:

No cocaine is POISONOUS. As in, it has poisons in it. Have you seen how they make that shit? Gasoline, acetone, ammonia
... lets not even start talking about levamisole, all goes into that shit. Then not to mention if you make it into crack you add way more toxic chemicals to the mix without flushing them out properly


pure cocaine HCL is not poisonous, but if you buy coke, its not pure.


This poor guy probably died from all the toxins in his bodys way before he OD'd

Probably not though, as the acute toxicity of levamisol is much lower than that of cocaine HCl (he certainly didn't die of an opportunistic infection following agranulocytosis!) and the presence and quantity of other impurities can only be guessed. Also converting cocaine into crack shouldn't introduce any adulterants other than sodium bicarbonate, unless you live in South America and smoke basuco or "bazooka" where the cocaine is based with neurotoxic manganese carbonate that causes parkinsonism. Anyway, like I said, cocaine is surprisingly potent orally. If it can stimulate at 4.2mg imagine what it would feel like to eat an ounce (even if it was only 25% pure!).

What surprises me is that they were not able to save his life.

RE: the story. Wow, he ate a OZ of cocaine. He should have known that would kill him. I thought everyone knows that an OZ of a hard drug like cocaine would kill anyone.
