Opioids Responsible opiate use. Is it possible? Probable?

The price got me hooked...

This is a real good point, for sure. I'm not sure what it's like elsewhere, but here on the east coast where we have real good heroin for cheap and prescription drugs sell on the street for top dollar, well, it's hard to justify shelling out the money for oxycodone/oxymorphone/hydrocodone. I wish we could discuss prices, but we can't, so let me just say that the difference in price is pretty significant...

And then when you realize you can buy x number of bags and that should get you good for "a long time," well... it's a slippery slope, isn't it?

But, but, I thought you guys had pill farms available and everything? Pharms are more expensive than street smack? Man, that's fucked up. Gotta be something wrong in the supply chain somewhere? Your medical companies are charging too much for dirt cheap drugs cos addicts are damn good business for one, if dealers can make enough profit on top of theirs FFS!

This is also a good point, and I should have mentioned that prescription pills sell for top dollar here on the north end of the east coast. ;) Florida is a different story altogether and things are different in the south. But here in Connecticut I can say with absolute certainty that there are no real pill farms and everything rx goes for top dollar. I can also say with absolute certainty *grins* that the dope here is excellent; sniffing just one bag is akin to something like sniffing/eating 60 mg oxycodone. If you know how much a bag costs, and if you know how much oxycodone goes for here... well, you can figure it out.

EDIT: And it's funny that this should come up because my dealer was breaking my balls for not coming around as much anymore. I basically told him that uh, it just isn't worth it anymore to buy roxies (oxycodone IR) anymore because they're so damn expensive.

I believe that it is possible. I myself am currently trying this. I started for the first time today and plan to do so again in month. I get it from a close friend of mine who goes through other people. If I for some reason got hooked I would by cut off by my friend. I smoked the h on my wax skillet an hour ago and I feel extremely good! In my opinion I still prefer DMT as my favorite drug over heroin and meth.

I believe if you practice extreme self control, take things in moderation, and use safe methods almost any drug can be used harmlessly.

I personally don't think heroin is any different from morphine. I actually prefer morphine to heroin, so it is hard for me to understand why someone would be a perfect chipper with morphine but then have heroin ruin them. Are you sure that your life would not have been ruined had you continued using morphine?

I find them completely different and I much prefer heroin. I know others who feel the same as you, but to me, they are world's apart.

I was plugging morphine, when I started IV'ing heroin was the turning point.

That was the key for me aswell. I was able to maintain "functioning addict" status for long time doing oxy, and even sniffing dope. Once I started IVing the shit though, it's a 'whole 'nother ballgame my friend. Nothing comes close. It has been nothing but trouble, yet we all go back.

You can chip on opiates, sure. But just not IV dope, in my opinion at least. Everyone thinks they've got it under control until it's too late and the hole is too deep to get out of. It's a slow transition, not just wake up one day BAM! a full blown junky and shit..

It's a tough war. Good luck if you wish to fight the lost cause of "responsible heroin use".

I don't really consider heroin a drug that can "get me good for a long time", considering the even longer period where I know I'll be withdrawing off of it.

Feel free to vehemently disagree with me but that's just my 2 cents. I'd rather keep tapering with buprenorphine than ever have to return to using heroin. :)

IMO, it is totally feasible to use heroin responsibly, it's just not the most rewarding way to use heroin. Most addicts know from personal experience going from your lowest low, to scoring, to snorting/slamming/etc, and having that high hit you and take you from a negative ten to plus ten, is unbelievably more rewarding/reinforcing than merely going from sober to high on heroin. Yes, the first heroin experience can be a particularly enjoyable one, but you felt all right before hand too.

Going between the low lows and high high's, is what makes heroin a rewarding substance. You do get more out of it as going from 0 to +10 just seems as half as good from going -10 to +10.

Some people with benzodiazepines for anxiety claim they only find benzos euphoric when they are actually in anxiety attacks and desperately need them, whereas for some people, merely using a benzo can't cause the high.

It's also that a lot of people stop caring about responsible drug use when they start using heroin. I think it's evident if you've ever seen someone hunt for a vein for a half hour trying to get a shot off.

Finally BDP; it is possible to be responsible with IV heroin use. I only tried IV heroin no more than a dozen times in my entire life. I actually found snorting powder heroin way more pleasurable than shooting it.

haha Trust me, man, I understand you completely. That's why I put it in quotations because, well, it might be what you'd think when you first start copping bags and after making the switch from oxy to heroin, but you'd soon discover that the more you have, the more you inevitably end up using... most of the time, anyway.

I can honestly say that responsible use of opiates will only go on for so long. I thought I could integrate opiates into my life while working and going to school, but it's pretty much inevitable that addiction(mentally, physically, and even spiritually) will begin to overshadow anything that you may deem important. Before long, all you'll think about is how to stay "well".

Same for me - I didn't consider myself addicted until I started to IV heroin. Of course, I simply wanted to try it once. But then, snorting it doesn't cut it anymore. You've got to IV every single time. I was a responsible user of heroin when I snorted it, as responsible as you can be using heroin. Once in a blue moon, purely recreational, only used it when I went out to have fun (as opposed to sitting home and shooting up.) So yeah, I do think it's possible to use heroin responsibly, but probably not with needles.

It may just depend on the type of person you are - for me, opiates hit the spot so hard that once I start, I don't want to stop, so "responsible" is just not going to happen. But I've met others that have been much better about it, and only do oxy or heroin occasionally. But I've never met someone who started shooting up who didn't end up addicting - I never went down that road, but it certainly seems to be the general point of no return.

Is responsible opiate use possible? Of course it is. Millions take them as medicine for pain/addiction maintenance and don't abuse them. Also the majority of people who use opiates, including heroin, don't become addicts.I'm not an addict. However, you can't predict whether or when you'll become an addict. It sneaks up on you.

I know heroin is an opiate like any other, but it's relatively cheap, potent, and concentrated compared to most pharms. Most people can't afford/acquire grams of oxycodone and use it everyday(except Rush Limbaugh;)), but you can use grams of heroin in a day 8o. This could get you into deeper shit than if you're snorting a few oxys.

Not smoking it (just seems trashy to me, just my opinion though) IV'ing is out of the question (phobia). Plugging I've had to do with other things but not my most proud moments. Insullfation has always been my cup o' tea.
Smoking/IV even pluggin won't seem trashy when your sick.
All that seems to be available out here is tar. That and the people that associate themselves with heroin ( I'm talking dealers not users) Aren't really the crowd I'd want to hang around. I have a certain level of sketchy that I can tolerate. Looks like it's just oxy occasionally for now.
I won't exactly call the pills scene less shady than the h scene.Pillheads just think their superior to other junkies.Although buying from a grandma is usually different than buying from a gangster, usually lol. If tar is all you got and all you like to do is sniff then your shit out of luck. Though smoking ain't bad like IV. It's probably safer than sniffing since you might pass out/feel sick before you OD.

if you really want to look for the ultimate bliss, and don't want to have to experiment, you will look into IV administration.

Don't bother with smoking and snorting. It's only going to create a tolerance for the effects. The first time i did H, i shot it, and holly shit, haven't touched it since. I am now shooting Hydromorphone when i want the zing.

One properly placed shot is all it takes (to get you 6 feet under) to get the feeling you are longing for (the two are closely related, the golden nod and the overdose are only separated by a hairs breath). Then, you may as well quit after you have experienced this, because it will never feel this good again. Ever.

IMHO, go buy some syringe filters, a clean rig, and the works needed to perform a safe injection. I suggest to use pharmaceutical opiates such as Hyrdromorphone or Oxymorphone, because your dosage is well known. With a bag of heroin, i would always do the first tester shot to assay potency. I didn't do that my first time ever injecting Heroin, and i got extremely lucky that i was with an experienced user who knew how strong the shit was. He eyeballed a 1/4th of a bag for me, and i slammed it. All this time plugging, snorting and smoking opiates, this was what i was looking for all along holly shit.

The needle filled with heroin literally put the fear of god into me, and i became weary of injecting. now, i shoot up 2 - 3 times a week at my leisure, and still have a good time. But the feeling i am looking for is gone. I don't get it back, no matter how much i shoot. I just get higher and higher.

Ever tried going into withdrawals for two days and then rigging up a perfect shot? It's close to that first time feeling, but it sinks in that you actually only just feel "normal" again.

Be careful.

Any drug that lulls you to contentment and complacency when your environment (well, that of most heroin users, myself included) suggests you should be anything but content is probably by definition a waste of time, and if you consider wasting lots of time irresponsible, then it probably isn't possible...

Chronic opioid use doesn't have to lead to thievery and illegal behavior or missed days at work or missed social appointments, though. I've felt I've gotten irresponsible when I've neglected to play the guitar for two weeks or longer, or forget about a book I was reading because I hadn't felt like messing with either on dope.

I tried dope for the first time three days ago. The first two days I smoked it. I'm on the third day now and won't be buying any h for a month. I still feel content to sit back and drink some beers and smoke some bowls. I believe in responsible opiate use.

This has been answered in the past before and it looks like it's got its fair share of answers now. I think it's closing time.

I would never advocate picking up IV usage as a way of "responsible" opiate usage. Recreational IV drug usage is not responsible. Period.

It's definitely possible to use opiates reponsibly, but if you have the right forces in your life then most people will end up addicted. Be careful, whatever you do.
