Hi everyone, First time posting on bluelight. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to substances. Psychedelics and downers were made for me.

To my point and questions though. I have personally used opiates for around a year now. Most of my experience is Oxycodone, some hyrdocodone (nice but I prefer the first), Suboxone (helps me get through my day at work without tearing anyone a new asshole). When I was doing oxy I was able to keep it to a minimum. Never going more than 3 days in a row and only buy enough at a time to last that long at most. The worst withdrawals I had was a headache and sluggish. Manageable though. My curiosity is growing though, lady H has been teasing me for a while. Not smoking it (just seems trashy to me, just my opinion though) IV'ing is out of the question (phobia). Plugging I've had to do with other things but not my most proud moments. Insullfation has always been my cup o' tea. I've been able to be responsible with oxy before, would trying dope be a bad idea. I understand the high's are similar, but H from what I have heard is stronger and lasts a bit longer.

Any current friends of H have tips for being friends but not getting "to close". 1 day use then stop? 2days? Sorry if this has been asked before, I've tried researching and not a lot of info on responsible use, just current addiction and a "just say no" attitude.

Hutton,
Hi, I can't really answer your question because I have never tried H. Heroin has been something I have been very much wanting to try. I have a very high opoid tolerance and experience injecting drugs such as dilaudid and fentanyl. I much prefer injection to other ROA. I am sort of thankful that I have no way or knowlege of obtaining heroin, because if I did I am positive I would not be able to control myself.

I'm pretty much the same way. Nasally is my most preferred ROA. Never IV'd, never will. As far as heroin goes, I would strongly advise against it. It's almost impossible to do it for a few days and then stop, you will be having a lot worse withdrawls than oxy. Also, if you move to heroin, good luck going back to pills if you ever decide to, you tolerance will be through the roof.

It's called chipping. And it can be done, but you've got to have a lot of willpower. The only time I've been able to, is when I'm tapering to get clean. If you're dead set on trying it, then try it. Wait a week. Then see how you feel about it. Don't rush into it, because it's not something you're going to be able to rush out of.

To answer your question, yes, moving on to heroin is a bad idae.

Responsible heroin use is possible. If you are a freak of nature. Eventually, even those who can do anything such as X better than Y for longer than Z with no ill affects and etc. etc. etc. blaa blaa blaa.

It's nothing like you can possibly understand until you've been there and it's too late. I was a perfect opiate chipper with codeine, morphine, oxy and opium for years. Heroin ruined my life.

I think that the mutual consensus is that chipping IS possible but that by the time you learn that you are not capable of it you'll be too far gone anyway. I managed to use infrequently for quite a while (2-3 times a week) and still eventually experienced addiction/dependence. It may just be a matter of time when it comes to opiates. I've heard some stories of folk who use rarely becoming dependent and increasing dose frequency. Whether this is just a pscyhological or a physical thing is irrelevant - i'd strongly advise against chipping with opiates since they seem to be almost by nature compulsive.

I personally don't think heroin is any different from morphine. I actually prefer morphine to heroin, so it is hard for me to understand why someone would be a perfect chipper with morphine but then have heroin ruin them. Are you sure that your life would not have been ruined had you continued using morphine?

I was a more responsible and recreational user of opiates until my mucus membranes met Heroin, but even before that time I've always had a strong love for and a curiosity to try new opioids. I now use high dose or potent opiates or a partial agonist like buprenorphine almost everyday which can be difficult financially if you don't have a reliable or consistent income.

Heroin is just another opiate, like oxycodone or hydrocodone. In my opinion it gets a particularly bad rap because of the fact that by the time someone is playing with heroin, they are well addicted to opiates, and opiate addiction is not attractive. I myself have never tried heroin, and doubt I ever will because of the fact that it is a street drug with unknown potency and unknown fillers. Because of that, I regard it as a dangerous substance. Heroin will be very much like morphine, unless it is injected IV in which case the rush of heroin is often preferred due to its exceptional ability to cross to blood brain barrier with ease and quickly become morphine as well as a few other metabolites. I am fairly confident if you are very responsible with heroin it will be very much like using any other opiate esp. if you don't IV, which you don't have intentions of doing. Just be careful with dosing and that. And, let me be clear, I do believe there is a large chance you will fall into opiate addiction, but whether you continue with heroin or oxycodone/hydrocodone I don't think will matter.

With previous psychological addiction to them, it's possible, but not probable. Things may be going good enough now not to break the 3-day rule, but if an unexpected personal tragedy were to show up, and you can't really plan these things, it might be hard not to get yourself knee-deep in the opiate game.

This. Life is unpredictable at the best of times

Heroin is not like every other opiate... I'm not calling you out or anything, I just don't think it's fair to underplay heroin. There's nothing greater than being on it and nothing worse than getting off it. I wouldn't want someone to think popping a few vicodin is no different than banging a bag of H.

You're comparing two different routes of administration, so in that respect, you're correct.

However, heroin is, in fact, very much like other opiates. It's essentially morphine, morphine with two additional acetyl groups. Those two acetyl groups allow the morphine molecule to travel more easily through the blood brain barrier, but once it's there, it's morphine. Also, heroin acts on the same mu opioid receptors as nearly all other opiates/opioids. So, chemically speaking, well... it's not very much different. It's the route of administration (IV-ing, sniffing, etc.) that truly changes the game.

And, speaking from experience, I can tell you that blowing a bag of dope and blowing an oxy... pretty fucking similar. Just saying...

But anyway, I'd have to say that responsible opiate use is possible. It is possible -- difficult, but possible...

Dope is dope is dope, as verso said. If you really want to get into the "scene" that surrounds heroin, then go for it. But don't come running back when you've dug your own grave too deep.

The question you asked - "would trying H be a bad idea?" - is pretty obvious. Yes, it's a bad idea.

I hear you guys. Best way to put it is probably a "morbid curiosity" I see myself as a very strong willed person. But I've also seen people I've thought of as extremely strong will fall under heroins grasp, a grip of very close friends from high school. This is probably the only thing that has kept me from trying it ( It's been offered to me on many an occasion). And some thing I've taken into consideration.

I wouldn't call my job "very well paying" which kind of added to the allure of heroin. But actually trying to envision the future as an occasional heroin user... There's only that 2 way path, the not so good way being a lot more likely than the other. Another thing I've thought about is even though some one compared railing oxy and heroin as really similar. If I already have a good thing I can occasionally do, then I don't think I'm ready to chance with some that's even "better". For now I'd say its a nay for me on trying it. The whole cheapness, nod's and bliss I've heard about from so many people just appealed a lot to me.

One last thing that has kept me from trying it. Location. Without stating where I am exactly I am fairly close to mexico, close enough that illegal immigration is one of the most controversial topics here (I could give two shits about it). All that seems to be available out here is tar. That and the people that associate themselves with heroin ( I'm talking dealers not users) Aren't really the crowd I'd want to hang around. I have a certain level of sketchy that I can tolerate. Looks like it's just oxy occasionally for now. Why chance ruining something I've had success with with something else. Thank you everyone for the positive feedback.

It's certainly possible to chip H if you've not previously had an opiate habit and have been able to chip other opiates you've used in the past. I'm not familiar with the multitude of variants our American cousins have available to them these days so I can't say how it compares to the better / stronger of them, but I would expect the effects to be much the same, varying mainly only in intensity. In fact, you may find the H going round your area inferior to some of the pharmaceuticals, I dunno. In any event I chipped H for about 3 years, mainly chipping in with mates to buy a weight that would do us for a coupla days at the weekend 2 or 3 weekends a month. And then I'd score on my own the odd day through the week on top, and have little runs to myself. Then I got a shitload of money in a lump sum and fell off the edge of the world.

Trouble is, you're on a ladder at the moment going from one drug to another, and eventually one of them will become your drug of choice. Once you've found it, it's highly likely that you will get to like being on it more than you do being off it. Possibly more than highly likely. That's where psychological addiction starts, and you're as good as fucked once you have a psychological addiction to opiates, because the physical addiction will surely follow. Unlike other drugs you can do them every day, for days at a time, with no loss of effect, and no increase in adverse effects so what tends to happen is you push it. Your runs get that little bit longer, and the breaks between them get that little bit shorter, all the while upping your tolerance and fucking with your brain chemistry and psychological drives until you're balancing on a knife edge. At that point it takes very little to lose your balance and fall headlong into full blown addiction. This is why so many of us will try and stear you away from opiates altogether. We foolishly hope that once in a while what we have to say will make a blind bit of a difference, but the truth is it rarely does. You're gonna do H no matter what we say here, so . . .

Do not ever do more than 3 days at a time. You might turn out to be one of those people who thinks a runny nose and feeling a bit rough means they're withdrawing you see ((( Hahahaha! ;) ))) and wonders what all the fuss was about, deciding it ain't so bad as it's often made out and they can handle it as they embark on a properly long run.

Keep it infrequent. By infrequent I mean with as wide a gap between runs as possible. Months > weeks > days, obviously. You will ALWAYS want to have at least 2-3 days between even short runs lasting less than a couple of days. Always aim for more.

Do not inject. There is a time and place for needles in an addicts life, now is not one of them.

Keep each individual dose low. You can never tell what you're getting with street H, and you can go from unbelievably poor to unbelievably, dangerously pure within a couple of scores from the same dealer. With your preferred ROAs you can always put more into your system to increase the nod, but you can never take it out. Not without a handy supply of Naloxone available anyways. Smoking is to be preferred IMO as you'll nod out before getting anywhere near overdose territory. Not so with the other more immediate ROAs you've listed as your own preference.

Perhaps most important: Decide, now, what your pattern of use will be, and ponder on what you will do to watch for danger signs. If you find yourself using more often than intended at the outset, or find yourself rationalising things in a way that enables you to use, it is time to stop and have a word with yourself.

Be responsible, and be careful, cos if you're not you'll be back here in a bit asking for detox advice. Do not do it unless you are VERY confident in your ability to manage your use, bearing in mind there ain't an addict or ex-addict on the planet that weren't absolutely convinced in theirs. ;)

Ha believe me I know my "withdrawals" have been minor. Headache, diarrhea/vomiting. I've seen friends go through a lot worse. And I'm very thankful I have not had the opportunity to fall of the edge yet. And That's always been how I've dealt with drugs. If I'm doing something I'm unfamiliar with, then I'll do a little at a time to see how it effects me. I really do consider myself a responsible drug user. There is just that allure about heroin and any other opiate in general for me... After hearing how pharmaceuticals won't be as potent I don't think its for me right now. I don't want to try something I like even more and have something else be ruined for me pretty much. Kinda like smoking mersh you're whole life then you start smoking grade A medical shit. You just can't go back. Atleast thats how I see it.

yeah its possible. Ive been using dope for 7 months counting this month december. I guess its sorta chipping and I snort it. It seems addicting in ways like i told myself "yeah this is last time im comming down for heroin then thats it" just to go back a few times to get more but talking about addicted im not, not physically anyway. withdrawals were minor and was more of me worrying about it. slight chills, feeling hot, and restless thats it.

The price got me hooked and the convenience of coppin' it, 10mins away or when I go into my community college. I prefer insufflation, due to duration of peak. Got good at chasing the dragon, when I had proper gear for chasing I'd smoke the shit out of it.

What's the point of the high if you'll die from the low. By the time you know, it's too late. I'd say skip Heroin while you have a choice!
