I think we've all had a time or two when we've been blown away at how utterly useless/incompetent/ill-informed a doctor has been, especially with regard to drugs. This thread is for sharing those experiences, and venting about them.
I have a friend who is in her 4th year of medical school, and the other day we got into an argument because she said that people addicted to benzos who come into the ER should be given a 48hr inpatient detox and sent home. I told her that was ridiculous and they need a much longer-term outpatient taper plan after they are sent home, to avoid risk of seizure and brain damage associated with it. She is stubborn as hell, and by the end of the conversation, we agreed to disagree (but I know I'm right). It alarms me to think that she is taking patients now, and she might one day release a high-risk patient from the hospital with no medicine. It's upsetting.
