Ego Death: A Paper

Do you think that "ego-death" really means "death"? Couldn't it mean "ego-sleep?" for example? That way there wouldn't be the automatic linking between "ego-death" and "near-death experiences" that seems to happen simply because they both contain the word "death".

Thank you. I definitely recommend writing up a report, as it helps in the process of integration greatly. Did you happen to read the rest?

The particular experiences that I focus on in this paper are high-dose mushrooms (7 grams) and high-dose DMT (as much as possible - smoked and oral).

I have experienced ego-death with LSD, but it wasn't nearly as intense (all-encompassing) as DMT or mushrooms. LSD ego-death you have to "let" happen; even then, it merely seems overlaid upon your ordinary consciousness. With mushrooms and DMT, "my" consciousness was almost entirely dissolved and the ego-death experience became all that I was aware of.

Wow thats alot to take in. Greatt readddd. I have not come close to ego death but i have experienced what you said about love and that it is the reason for the universe (cannot find the exact quote now that i look back through the paper). That experience has changed my life for the better. I look at everyone differently and with love.

I am more open with my emotions and am able to develop closer realtionships with my family, friends and anyone really. I enjoy going to school because i love my classmates, i enjoy going to church because i love the people there, family events and hanging with friends all of that becomes so much more enjoyable which in turn makes me a happier person because i actually LOVE being there and love the people im around ya know?

I think i am def prepared to experience ego death because of the knowledge i have gained over the years and the many, many times tripping.

O and when the slideshow of your life and everything you have ever known was taking place, did you really see future events that actually came to pass in reality? Be honest now.

Nice trip report Eschaton, do you suffer from much nausea with oral DMT? 6-10 drops of "essential lemon oil" seems to eliminate DMT nausea completely. Inactivates the 5-ht3 nausea receptor in the gut.

Mushrooms and moclobemide is just like oral DMT only it lasts 2-3 hours longer.

Yes, I saw my soon-to-be girlfriend during my trip and it was over 8 months before I would even meet her. I saw events from future trips and future déjà vu moments. I have no reason to lie about this; truly, it seems unbelievable, but to me it is unequivocal fact.

I experienced a "worm-hole" of sorts between the 7 gram mushroom trip this report is based on and my first and only DMT+THH trip. I was able to go "back" to my mushroom trip 3 years earlier during my THH trip; mind you, I tripped on the same day, 3 years apart. During my THH trip, I said and did things that I did during my shroom trip years before, but now the things I said and did actually made sense in context of the present. It was a truly crazy experience.

I have done oral DMT only twice; once to wade into the shallow end to make sure the THH worked and then a second time to I took a trip to the Mariana Trench. Neither time did I experience nausea; I fasted for days before each time too.

I guess I'm just blessed with an iron stomach.

Woahhh! I know you have no reason to lie. I guess i just wanted further details on the subject while also sounding skeptical (cuz i was) haha. Insane stuff though man, i gotta trip harder is what it sounds like!

Fascinating read, and I do love the little notes at the beginning.. So true, it's definitely something you have to have experienced to truly understand. Thank you very much. I am happy to hear that you found it relative to your own experiences. The historical consensus is astounding and the implications are startling; do tell me, have you read Carl Jung before? Specifically, regarding his idea of the collective unconscious? The archetypes of God and Eternity are embedded in our very being. Only when we dissolve our personal frame of reference are we able to experience them as a reality. I would heavily recommend digesting his works if you haven't already. Carl was a psychedelic mind without the need for a catalyst, i.e., he was the man.

I actually haven't read any of Carl Jung's works before believe it or not. I've been meaning to for quite some time, so you've spurred me to do so now :)
 
There is a bit too much quotes for my liking but I certainly relate your experience to what I experienced a few years ago. I also had an atheist education in my childhood and was amazed to read about the concept I experienced during a psychedelic experience in a book about XVI century mystic (Eckhart von Hochheim) I had never heard about ! And then in Buddhist texts, etc.

Congratulations for your efforts !
