Its a shame to see what dub has become ... Dub the likes of king tubby, upsetters and scientist to name a few made a massive mark in the music industry influencing every aspect of electronic music .. When the 90's came around and ambient trippy dub by the likes of the Orb and mad proffesor which IMO is pure musical perfection ... its so smooth and simple yet so satisfying. With just the right amount of bass and the drums in all the right places. Then dubstep came along and things dropped in quality quicker than a phat wob ... Dubstep is tasteless and a disgrace to the dub family ... You need to use things like bass in comoderation not just make the dirtiest sound possible ... I respect Everyones taste in music except if you like dubstep ...
Aba Shanti, Channel One, Iration Steppaz, Mungo's Hi-Fi, to name a few off the top of my head, loads of people are still making dub music. You might not like dubstep, but it isn't that "dub has become", it's a different genre. Its a shame to see what dub has become ... To be fair, I dont get why one genre is better than another. Its all musical evolution.
This is precisely my point. Personally, I was into House (all types), Breaks and Techno in the early 90ies. I have heard many things since then and I have to admit, I like the so called "shit" dubstep (Skrillex, Nero etc). There will always jaded music snobs out there ^^. and music will still evolve.
I agree with all of this, but I actually don't like Skrillex. That's OK too, right?never stop liking something just because it becomes popular.
it doesn't make you cool,
it makes you fickle, shallow and negative.
wouldn't the world be a better place if most people listened to good music??
"i liked their early stuff" or
"i knew them before they were popular" or
"fuck that commercial shit! "
(when you secretly downloaded the record yourself and rocked out to it)
^this is all wanky twatspeak for gaylords and idiots. if your guilty! stop it! admit your guilty pleasures and play them loud!
bingo.
and final but very important point.

hey man.
i agree, 99% of all music is shit.
.
...great post!
And no, this isn't the best thread title ever.
Too much hating on mainstream imo. Music is music. Quality is subjective and a lot of the time genre distinctions are hard to pinpoint.
