can i smoke weed everyday and have a healthy successful life? im not dumb im very bright. i love weed, i would fucking bath in that shit. but is it going to fuck me over in the long run?? im just looking to live a normal stable god damn life.

Honestly, yes, yes you can. It's all about balance, my friend :) And priorities. There's no reason why you can't live a healthy and successful life and not enjoy a joint after work. When it comes to the point where marijuana, or any drug, is interfering with your life is when it becomes a problem.

(edited the title so that it was more clear)

I've found that you can in terms of mental health, no question there. Now when it comes to your body, first of all there's nothing that you can smoke everyday and still be healthy. Set aside lung issues, the munchies has been a great problem for me, without noticing it I found myself growing fatter and fatter and if I did smoke I had to eat because I was hungry or feel hungry and not do anything about it which totally ruined my mood.
So I guess that THC and it's natural analogues are not Much of a threat when it comes to effects, the problem is the route of administration, mostly. *Much with a capital 'cause of the munchies thing (:

Vapourise (to save your lungs), don't get stoned and drive and don't do so much that it makes you content with doing jack shit all the time! Like almost everything it can be be abused its all about balance.

I use a vapourzier (Arizer V Tower),
I get stoned every day after 8pm.

I think the main thing is not to get stoned earlier in the day, because it might make you less motivated to do things during the day.

But yeah, if you wish to use weed healthily save your pennies and get a vapourizer.
It seems to make my weed last twice as long as well, so it will pay for itself over time anyway?

(Price of weed, tobacco i'd put in joints, rizlas, lighters)

My medical marijuana doctor pointed out 4 ailments smoking cigs cause, and marijuana can only cause one of them; I think cigs can cause emphysema, COPD, Lung cancer, and Congestive heart failure, I don't remember which one was the single thing that Marijuana causes, but yes he does recommend using a vaporizer anyway, but you have to smoke more vaporized than you would with a water bong. I just quit smoking both of them, I wonder if it's because I've been taking Elavil (Amytryptaline) for a couple months now? The sad thing is I just bought a whole carton so now I'm going to give them to someone for free lol.

True.. smoking anything isn't HELPING your lung function.

But I feel like indulging in things from time to time, but keeping a balance, is good for your mental health, which in turn impacts your physical health.

Smoking a joint, having a drink, eating some chocolate, drinking coffee, other recreational drugs etc.... all of these things in moderation can help to create a balance of happiness and pleasure in life that is in itself, healthy. I have an open mind when it comes to health, and I believe that balance is key. There's obviously a fine line between using marijuana as a recreational substance to elevate mood once in awhile, and being mentally addicted to it. There's a fine line with a lot of things like that in life. When it comes to the point that it's affecting your life in a negative way, then maybe it's time to reevaluate.

If you can exercise self-control and only use it as a recreational substance while still maintaining an otherwise healthy lifestyle and performing well in your professional and social life, then that's balance to me. Everyone can see this differently, but that's just how I see it.

Also, another thing to point out is the entire focus of Bluelight which is harm reduction. You could say anything we talk about on this site is 'unhealthy' but we practice harm reduction to live a healthy lifestyle while safely using drugs, which is ultimately the reason we all came to Bluelight in the first place. So vaporizers, edibles, etc can be considered as 'healthier' alternatives to smoking a joint or a blunt, for example.

I vape everyday around twice a day ...

Im still in uni doing pretty good and I haven't really seen any downside to weed as of yet and I've been doing this daily for like 5 years . Except for days such as exams where i prolly won't toke up for obvious reasons .

one thing i try also not to do is smoke before bed . I have a belief that smoking weed before bed causes the memory&slowness side effects due to the fact that weed decreases REM sleep .
If you actually do a bit of research REM sleep is pretty important =P

That last point about sleeping I think is definitly true! Two nights ago I smoked a joint and went to sleep straight after. Woke up the next morning feeling like a sloth lol. Not the first time either.

I have been quite healthy and successful while living with an addiction to cannabis.
I went through college, and graduated with good grades. Learned several languages during and after college.
Went to grad school and got a master's and a PhD, then a job teaching at a large uni with a good rep.
All the while, I have exercised consistently, focusing on cardio, but also including muscle-building, balance, and flexibility.
After 25 years of smoking weed, I have no diseases, no real health issues, no real psychological issues to speak of.
Weed has made me healthier in many ways, especially psychologically. It also gives me energy to exercise.
I have maintained a balance throughout my smoking "career", by usually only smoking at night, and by taking time off from smoking regularly (a month or two every year, a day or two every couple of weeks, etc.).
Smoking never made me go crazy with junk food, and I always eat very, very healthy food, even when high.

And yet...

I wonder how possible it is to be fully healthy - to realize your ultimate potential in mind and body (and spirit) - while maintaining an addiction to anything.

Cannabis is one of the better things to be addicted to, if you ask me. It seems far better than tobacco, alcohol, or even sugar (which I avoid). But I wonder how much I am losing by living my life addicted to a foreign substance - giving it control over my thoughts and decisions. Even for the good number of years when I only smoked on weekends, I still smoked every Fri and Sat night, regardless of whether it was in my best interests to smoke then. Since smoking makes me dislike social interaction, I stayed home with my wife, or had a friend or two over. Would I have had a broader variety of experiences if I hadn't smoked so regularly?

More importantly, how much of my "spirit", or my self-control, my ability to judge things in an impartial manner and make the best decision, my clarity, did I lose by maintaining my addiction?

Not easy questions to answer, but something worth thinking about.

I recall reading about a doctor that was doing research on the Sadhus in India (who pretty much smoke marijuana all day everyday as a spiritual practice) and some of them developed Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in their later years.

if you vaporize your mj from now on ur lungs will be fine, if u smoke weed ur lungs will become covered in tar no matter how healthy the rest of ur body is.

I would say yes, other than long term lung damage, as others have said. I'm not a weed smoker, but do use other drugs and can say I try to live more healthy nowadays than I used to and managed to put on more weight which I badly needed. In my experience, the worse thing is mental health deteriorating over time.

Im exactly the same! Ive been smoking bongs every day for the past 3 years, my brain feels the same, im awesome at my job, dont have any money troubles, the only thing i worry about is having a fucken heart attack and ruining my lungs from all the tar!!!

Can anyone tell me if getting a tar catching bong will make a difference? Maybe a dumb question.

you can

it doesnt mean that you will
but if you care about your health more than weed than if weed at some point ends up creating problem then youll simply stop
weed is pretty random and at some point you might end up with issue you didnt have before
like if its calming you now it might stress you up at some point in life
if its making you more insightful in the way you think now it might make you turn in circle at some point
some people are able to keep up a good relationship with weed all their life
but its like any other relationship, sometimes it goes wrong and then things just arent the same
i mean even coffee ended up creating problem for me at some point...

so enjoy it while it last, most people get off the boat at some point because it stop being what it use to be
and on a body level as people have said it aint good for your lungs, but its easy to work around that if you care to

take care

No matter what all the uneducated stoners say....taking huge rips from bongs, pipes, blunts, etc. is HORRIBLE for your lungs. Absolutely Horrible. Other than that i have had a 5 gram a day habit (of high-grade) and still preformed exactly the same at my job and daily life. Only thing is you have to take more time out of your day to smoke....and it is harder to hide due to smell and number of objects required to smoke.....
