Benzos Help! Afraid to follow my doctor's directions.

What do you take? I'm thinking about starting one--to deal with anxiety caused by benzo withdrawal. I hate the fucking word benzo.

Theres got to be something better for you...They take soo long to start working...I use catapress for my withdrawal symptoms...stops me sweating and helps me sleep..prob cause it lowers your blood pressure..Wish i could help......

SSRI = Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitor, meaning that it prevents the synapses in your brain from "reclaiming" the serotonin that's been released, in theory allowing you to be happier. They also act on dopamine and dopamine receptors. SNRI = Serotonin and Norepinephrine Re-uptake Inhibitor.

Neither are worth their weight in fecal matter, and will only make depression worse in most cases, often leading to increases in suicidal tendencies in patients that are prone to such thoughts (especially if taken off the med, or over-prescribed [as often happens with everything]). Due to this, I flat out refused to be prescribed anything of the sort by my general practitioner and my psychologist. Both however suggest mild bi-polar disorder presence..

Benzos: Personally, much of my depression is due to over-bearing generalized anxiety, so .5-1.5 mg clonazepam daily is perfect for making me not loathe existence.

God dammit. Another person clueless about SSRIs who has a hard on for benzos.

Me? Hardly. Just because I gave a small definition to the person above me that seemed clueless about SSRI's, doesn't mean I have a hard on for benzos. I have a hard on for doing custom fab on european cars... and a bit of an idea about what does what to my body.

"Fake ceratonin hit" ? ... Benzos taking forever to kick in...? What works for some doesn't work for others. I hate speed, but meth addicts can't do without it.

Go for a two hour jog/walk. Now.

Do it again tomorrow, and everyday for a week, then get back to me.

Also have a fuck every day or so, purely as another way to exersise. If you dont have a girl/boy available, pay for one.

:)

Exersise and new activities really does seem a much better option than most of the drugs people use to help them if they are feeling down.

Exercise definitely does seem to help. At least in my experience. Helps me to not only be physically healthy and energetic, but helps to clear my mind, balance some neurochemicals, and just makes for a good and healthy use of time.

I wouldn't recommend ANYONE taking Zoloft or ANY SSRI's. They are the most worthless, greedy, class of drugs ever synthesized. They WILL NOT help your depression in the long run, they will only take your money and your mental stability.

this is absolutely the way it is.

at least for me, but i just could say this after stopping them, so i wouldnt count on anyone saying theyre helping. i was quite desperate so i just talked myself into a "theyre making me better" state.

from my understanding, SSRI lower dopamine, which is their actual mechanism.
this might be good if youre suffering from severe anxiety, psychosis or compulsion disorders.
but the classic depression consisting of loss of motivation, hedonia and interesst WILL GET WORSE.

if found a paper once that stated theyre actually lowering dopamine, but i might not find it again.... yet the clues are talking for themselves.

try taking one dose of metoclopramide while on SSRI.
it will cat-shoot you straight into one day of parkinsonism. was once not careful enough about interactions, got this.
would also explain why they start to work after one or two weeks, while serotonine reuptake is inhibited from day one! the secondary system "dopamine" hast to adjust itself.

Just on the valium part, 10mg isn't really a big dose at all, and you may be fine stopping cold turkey if the period of time being on 10mg isn't, say over 3 or 4 weeks, BUT, for others 10mg can and does make a HUGE difference when it comes to withdrawals. You'll probably be safe from dangers such as the risk of a seizure, but this doesn't mean you wouldn't feel any of the absolute bastard that is benzo withdrawals. Personally, when it comes to benzos these days (especially valium), doctors and the way doctors are trained that this stuff is heroin at correct doses pisses me off something shocking. I can't see why the doctor couldn't have even halved your valium to 5mg rather than cold turkey.
