As some of you may or may have not been aware of (well, until now, haha), I am scheduled to undergo breast augmentation on October 21st!
I have done extensive research on various doctors, as well as my homework on checking to make sure this is, in fact, a board-certified plastic surgeon. I met with the doctor for a consultation, and even brought along my mother who is a registered nurse. I brought her along so that she could give me her input from a medical standpoint. The doctor seemed to be the exact type of fellow I was looking for to perform my augmentation. TBPF, I was very afraid that I would walk into said doctor's office, and come face to face with someone who had this approach of turning me into someone who looked as though they belonged dancing around a pole. Luckily, through word of mouth, I came across my doctor who not only is a part of the show Extreme Makeover, but who also has a very, very, evident devotion to a natural aesthetic. To make a long story short, I have booked my preoperative appointment for October 4th, and although I feel as confident as one can be with a doctor you just barely met, I do have a lot of unanswered questions and concerns. This is where you all come in! Before we start with the questions and concerns, I am going to state the type of procedure I am going to have done—in hopes that someone can shed some light on this.

• Bilateral (two boobie) breast augmentation (I changed my mind about the unilateral, haha

)
• Periareolar incision (incision placed along the areola)
• 300cc (I will be going from an A cup to a small C cup—my doctor said that anything bigger than a small C would look too big on my frame, which is not what I am going for. I want visible breasts, but not breasts that are so visible that they are the only thing anyone ever looks at. I desire publishing a book, performing spoken word, a stable career, ect. I need to be taken as seriously as a woman with fake breasts can be!)
• Saline! (Silicone is not something I will ever consider due to the health risks.) Apparently, my doctor said that I am actually a very good candidate for saline because I have "tight skin".
• Basically, I want to increase my overall femininity without having hooker tits. I actually told my doctor just that so that he would know that although I want boobs, I do NOT want to have a chest that protrudes so much that I look just plain sleazy.

Alright, now that I have communicated what is currently the way my procedure will go, I really would just like any type of feedback from gals who have had breast augmentations.

Have any of you had periareolar incisions? If not, do you know anyone who had periareolar incisions? Were you pleased with the results as far as scarring goes? If any of you have lovers/friends who had this procedure, were they pleased with the results as far as scarring goes?

Have any of you had saline implants? Were you told that you were a good candidate? Were you pleased with the results? If your lovers/friends have saline implants, were they pleased with the results?

If you have breast implants and could do it all over again, what would you communicate to the doctor better? What would you change? If you feel comfortable, please post your before and after sizes. With such information, I can get a much better idea of how our procedures would differ.

Any advice from those who have experienced or witnessed breast augmentation firsthand is much appreciated! If you are against breast implants, please keep your discouraging comments to yourself, unless you have legitimately had a breast augmentation performed.

dont do it.

i had an old g/f that had implants. one of them went bad and got hard as a rock and she had to get another surgery to get it fixed. totally makes my stomach flip even thinking about that.

I'm just curious why you are opting for the nipple entrance. I had them done about 10 years ago, and do not regret it, though I hate how large they are now. When I was 110 pounds, they were a large c, but after a pregnancy and at 150 pounds, they are now a double D. Anyway, back to the nipple...I would be worried about the scar and loss of feeling. Entrance under the breast is a much better option, IMO. The scar, even if you can find it is directly in the natural crease, so you can't really see it at all.

At first i though I should move this thread to healthy living, but TBH, I would really like to see peoples opinions on breast augmentation. SooO, you obviously have done alot of research and in the end I think its absolutely a WOMANS RIGHT to change your body of you desire to.

Discuss.

pre and post op pics please
for clinical reasons...seriously

I have been thinking about getting implants but would rather put the money into my face. I am kissing 40 years old and would like a fresher look.

I am going to be watching this thread :) I have been planning for awhile to get new tatas. I heard they now can make incisions under ur armpit to hide scarring. If that is true that will be what I do.

TBPF, the periareolar incision is what I am the most concerned about. According to my doctor, it is "the most common incision for breast augmentations today". According to my extensive research, it is one of the most common incisions. What does not bother me immensely about the abovestated comment is that I am a firm believer that any plastic surgeon will try to 'sell you' their service. Hell, they are playing salesman—only hopefully more qualified! Haha! Also, I believe that what it amounts to most is how qualified the plastic surgeon is. From what I have gathered (I say that because I am skeptical about everything), the doctor who I am currently scheduled with is extremely precise with regard to his practice. There are certain things he simply will not perform due to the fact that his knowledge and precision stray him away from such practices.

Honestly, I had guessed that transaxillary incisions (under the arm) would be performed far more often due to the lack of visible scarring. Apparently the placement of the breast implants is not as accurate with those, and as a result, less transaxillary incisions are being performed. What drew me to stick with the periareolar incisions a bit more after research, was that the periareolar incision gives the surgeon the most control over the position of the implant. Personally, the position of the implants are of much importance to me. I would really like to have my breasts look as beautifully natural as humanly possible. With that said, it only makes sense that an approach that allows for more room to place the implant properly would be an ideal approach for someone with my concerns. Also, I am a realist. I know that any type of plastic surgery is a risk. With that implanted in my mind of...uh, implants...I have decided that the ends justify the means so far. Although I sincerely hope that I am not affected by a loss of nipple sensation, I am willing to take that risk. I have had my share of fun, and although I enjoy the option of nipple sensitivity, it is by no means anything I feel strongly enhances intimacy.

Now, when addressing the topic of an augmentation performed along the crease, the inframmary incision is something I am still reading up on. I agree wholeheartedly that it sounds as though it is one of the better options, but I would not cancel my pre-operative date unless I found a board-certified plastic surgeon that I felt more comfortable with overall. My current board-certified plastic surgeon is rather qualified, has the approach I dig, but only said he would perform a periareolar incision on me. My main concern with regard to periareolar incisions is the scarring, but given that I feel any form of plastic surgery is a risk, and this is a doctor whom I have legit testimonials from, I am keeping the doctor and planning on taking immaculate care of the scars. Also, everyone scars differently, so it is rather hard to make an assumption on that. If done properly, the scar should blend and fade in with the areola.

Anyway, I dig that you were able to provide me with your personal experience with breast augmentation! Thank you for listing your proportions, as well. I am not big on weighing myself, but the last I checked, I weigh approximately 120 lbs. I am also approximately 5'7.5, so giving me a relative idea on your body structure was helpful. My doctor encouraged me not go any bigger than a small C. In fact, he mentioned pregnancy increasing the size of the breast and whatnot. Granted, I do not want children, it was important imformation to tell a client.

I was fortunate enough not to have to entertain the thought of breast augmentation. I thought I had read about a process where they could actually go through your belly button, but that could have been a dream. I am glad that you feel empowered enough to make the changes that you want for yourself. I waited almost 20 years to get my nose fixed for fear that people would think I was vain. It had been broken twice.

I do have a co-worker who has saline implants and I do remeber her telling me that the doctor told her that she should have them replaced every 10 years. I know back 30 years or so they were pretty dangerous causing all sorts of illnesses, but I am pretty confident that the modern saline implants and the process is relatively safe. Of course, with any anesthesia comes its own risks. I have also heard that the recovery time is pretty painful.

It sounds like you have dont your research and with your mom being a nurse, I think you are in good hands. Good Luck.

BTW... did I know you were in southern california? why havent we talked? or have we? I have a bad memory due to my fibromyalgia.

i was also told they would ideally need to be replaced every ten years. tbh, if i do that, i may just have them removed.

After skimming this thread, I don't think anyone has mentioned it: Some women report that their nipples stay hard even when they're not aroused, after receiving implants. Don't know how big of a concern that is for you (no pun intended :P) but you'll want to get a bra with "concealing petals" or whatever they're called--Basically more material around the nipple so they don't poke through.

I don't know if there's a way to avoid this, or if it only happens with a spotty surgeon or what, but it's something to research if it concerns you.

I get that some women are insecure about their breast size because of the perceived importance of needing big breasts to be attractive. However if im being perfectly honest, nice breasts are pretty close of the bottom of the list of attributes that decide weather or not I find a girl pretty. They still make the list, but things like a nice butt, legs, face, midsection are all things that I find more important, and most of them are also things that can be improved through exercise. If a girl works hard to maintain a sexy body that to me is much more attractive than fake boobs. Plus sometimes fake boobs can look, you know, fake.

That being said if getting implants is something that will make you feel better about yourself and you have the means to do it, then go ahead.

get ready for people to stare at your chest everywhere you go
Hence why I have already started calling them my 300 ccs of unwarranted judgement, haha.

TINK, you're one hell of a gal for waiting nearly twenty years! That is a very respectable quality that you wanted to be so modest!

I truly hope that you are pleased with the results! BTW, no worries with regard to the forgetfulness! I don't believe we have spoken directly, so that would make sense. Besides, I have an awful memory myself—only with no legitimate excuse! Haha!

I went from A to B with silicone in Thailand, mainly to make my clothes fit better. They look unnatural. My biggest regret is not massaging them HARD after the surgery. I had capsular contracture for several years. My friends who had silicone did massage and their's look natural. I wouldn't recommend implants for anyone.

They were put in under my arm.

Breast Augmentation Update!

I felt as though after the previous post, it was undoubtedly time to give a rather brief and TITillating update on my 378cc of unwarranted silicone judgement! After much consideration (as well as a rather 'hands on' experience with both silicone and saline implants), I decided to opt for the silicone. Essentially, silicone implants look and feel so inexplicably softer and more natural than their saline rivals. With that said, when I thoroughly took into consideration the fact that saline implants have a silicone exterior, my mind was made up. If any degree of silicone would be implanted in my body regardless of the breast implant type, I was certainly going to go for the option that looked and felt as natural as possible. I am beyond pleased with my decision to do so, and beyond pleased with my decision in general. IMHO, my compliments to the chef! =D Haha!

To be a bit more specific with the 'alteration', I went from being unable to fill a 34A, to a lovely 34C (granted it is a small C, I am a size 2 and do not care to look disproportionate!). Anyway, I absolutely love the fact that I can fit into dresses without an empty void in the breast area! I also am quite pleased that my breasts do not look overly large—unless I expose them. Everyone who has seen them in person has said that they fit my frame entirely. That was exactly what I desired, and the fact that I have control over how provocative I look is truly a marvellous thing! Anyway, they are still in the process of healing, looking more natural, and having the cleavage further develop, but I have absolutely no regrets for going through with this procedure.

To address the elephant in the room and cut to the fucking chase, situated below this very sentence are my new assets.

The aboveposted photograph was taken on Thanksgiving, so they already look a bit more natural than they did in the shot. If you don't care for them, I certainly wasn't planning on titty fucking a random stranger off the internet anyway.

Overall, I hope the partial documentation of my experience helped others considering the same procedure. If you have any questions, I have no problem answering them unless they are cruel or inappropriate.

Awwwww. :(

j/k, of course. If you're happy with them, that's what matters most.

Congratulations on your new bewbies - you gotta do what feels right to you. Just for the record, we won't tolerate any cruel or inappropriate comments so don't worry about that. I'm really happy you've given us an update as i'm sure there are women out there considering the same procedure.

PS: They look fantastic :)

Dave, next to the titty fucking random strangers off the street, of course.

Perpetual Indulgence, I hear you, but that's simply not my style. Just picture a pallid white wall with nipples and that was the before.

Samadhi, thank you for the reassurance!
