If you are tapering down opiates to get off them and you are down to say 50mg/day snorted Opana and you stop completely, or nearly completely for a day or two and endure the withdrawls, can you jump back into your taper at a drasticaly lower dose, like say to 30mg/day and feel good/aka "well"?
Basicly I'm doing a taper and it's comfortable to lower by 1mg/day but I don't have access to enough opiate to continue on such a schedule. If I continued just lowering by 1mg/day I would run out when I'm still at 20mg/day or so and then I would suffer bad insomnia for many days. I was thinking if I toughed it out for a couple days I could start back up at a much lower dose and it would serve three functions 1) Only having insomnia for 1 or 2 days 2) Shortening the total overall length of the taper, and 3)not running out completely while I'm still at too high of a daily dose. Once I started back up on the taper at the lower dose I would continue lowering by 1mg/day. Would that work? I know it would be real bad for the 2 days of little to no opiates but that might be preferable to jumping off at too high of a dose and getting insomnia for many days.
