I DO NOT CONDONE THE USE OF MAOIs IN COMBINATION WITH ANY DRUGS!

Went to a 21st on the weekend just passed, had no intention of drinking, after a short adventure to get some pills a friend and myself were ready to drop. I take 2 Yellow Question Marks and one MAOI before going out for a smoke. 30 minutes pass and there's no sign of a come up. 45 minutes pass and my friend is still at the baseline. I feel slight rushes but am so far not impressed. We both decide to chew up one more in our mouth and swallow another MAOI aswell.

another half an hour to 40 minutes pass and I'm really starting to feel it come on. Suddenly become very anxious and frantically tell my friend to keep an eye on me because I was freaking out. Something did not feel right. My friends reassured me it was just the typical come up jitters and after about 20 seconds I realised that they were absolutely right.

Felt so fucking amazing. The most loved up I have ever been in my entire life. Could not stop touching people and talking to them, chain smoking. Basically all the stereotypes for a munted fuck were being portrayed by me this beautiful evening.

Arrive at the club and meet up with some more friends, as this point my eyes were shaking so much I couldn't read or text on my phone nor could I even walk in a straight line. The whole world seemed to be moving with me. I get into the club and my friend takes me for a tour because I'd only ever been on one floor. Walking up the stairs was one of the most challenging experiences of my life, the stairs were kind of warping in front of me. After dancing for a little while I suddenly realise that I can't actually understand what the music is because it's reverberating and echoing like crazy. It got to the point where if a friend said 'Hello' to me I would hear 'Hello-lo-lo-lo". I wasn't scared though, i was absolutely at peace with everything. I really only have a photographic memory of that night from about then on... don't really remember specific events.

About 5 hours after initial drop, I take another 2 MAOIs and and am ready for the walk home. End up getting a ride to a park, picked up some Nossies on the way. The rest of my night/morning was a crazy night filled with REVERBERATIONS and greater truths.

Overall, basically just wanted to share that with everyone because I've never had such a psychedelic experience with MDMA before. Colours were more vibrant the way they are on LSD and in general I was in a complete state of peace which absolutely blew my mind.

I have never heard of MAOI pills? Why on earth would you think mixing with MDMA is a good idea?

i.e. mixing MDMA and MAOI

Even if the MAOI is harmless with MDMA (which is definitely isn't), whats the point? You don't need anything other than MDMA to get exactly the feelings you described.

Harm reduction man.. you can still have an awesome time but you have to be aware of what you're doing to your body.
 
Do you know which MAOIs you ingested?
Congrats on surviving a potentially fatal combination of drugs. Please never do this again.

I took moclobemide, it's a reversible maoi so it's nowhere near as dangerous as taking an irreversible one. I've taken this combo many times before, it just depends on the person who takes it as to whether they get SS or not
 
It's also nonselective, so it's nowhere near as safe as combination with an MAOB-selective inhibitor.

Why would you ever dream of trying a combination like this? This really is like playing russian roulette man. You're definitely very lucky to be alive. "I've taken this combo many times before" means nothing and just says you've been lucky more than once :\
 
First sing of things go wrong, is that you get echo and slideshow, trust me, you were near collapse. Why would you put your life at danger, when you want
just to have good times? Just imagine "SNAP" and your death at the dancefloor. Thats it.
 
I and my friends have done this combination many times, and I and my friends are mostly medical students. It blows normal mdma out of the water. Serotonin syndrome is an idiosyncratic reaction, you can generally gauge it by how the individual reacts to normal mdma. Obviously if you do this combo you start extremely slow and work up so you know your tolerance. However I think it is a stupid idea to advertise this combination because it can kill some people. Festival was just trying to share the magic of his experience.

He was around people who know what serotonin syndrome is and looks like.. dah.. hardly anyone dies from SS these days because its so easy to treat and so easily identifiable. Serotonin syndrome is also very dysphoric.. someone knows when they aren't right, they don't feel good.
 
Another thing that I didn't mention is because it is a reversible MAOI and competitive inhibitor, the higher the serotonin level goes, the lesser its effect, as serotonin and MAO both compete for binding to it and reach an equilibrium. Generally MDMA neurotoxicity is caused by dopamine levels, and moclobemide is mostly selective for MAO A (so works mostly on increasing serotonin and noradrenaline levels (although increasing these neurotransmitters is known to affect dopamine levels). However, we always attempt to avoid neurotoxicity by taking loads of tasty vitamin c pills (at least 10 grams spread throughout the trip) and also taking an SSRI at the end of the trip to prevent dopamine entering the serotonergic neurons.

This combination can be very sedating (make you want to melt into the couch) but at the same time you can dance as much as you want. Combined it with two tabs of LSD the other day and it was the most euphoric experience of my life.
 
I took low dose MDMA after doing low dose AMT once. Thing is I knew the combo was dangerous. I guesstimated on that dosage Id be ok and I was BUT when I look back on it I think it was unecessarily wreckless altho I was going thru some amphet withdrawls and thought it was my only way not to feel shit. should have just stuck with AMT.

The high became messy to the extent that it was noty consistently enjoyable. I got confused a lot. Possibly could be called a deleriant effect.


I feel like I was playing with fire re: extra serotonin receptor damage. Not a combo I would recommmend!

One should be worried more about cardiotoxicity or serotonin syndrome with such combinations than exacerbated neurotoxicity.
