What are your views on 'trying to protect us from things that are illegal' that the Aus. Government is using as an excuse to fuck everyone of us up?

My views are these:
Fuck off cunts!
Successful people can hold down a job/studies, whilst taking drugs.

It's not just the Australian government - we aren't exactly pioneers on the political world stage.

I imagine the view on here to be fairly unanimous that prohibition is misguided, ineffective, and unjust. This isn't a new topic of discussion.

I'll leave this open for now in case someone wants to share their opinion :)

USA is the protagonist for the majority of the world's harsh drug laws, including Australia's. This is documented in cables from Wikileaks, which is apparently a terrorist organisation if you listen to the US or AU government.

The government and I have a nice "don't ask, don't tell" relationship. Just like home electrical work there is only a problem when someone fucks up and gets caught. Thankfully the laws exist to put a stop to the annoying people with no brain or self control, otherwise they would truly become a menace to society. Everyone else happily continues doing what they have done for many years without the norms being any wiser.

you don't seriously believe that smug bullshit do you busty?
so, "the laws" stop drunken yobs "with no brain or self control" from causing all kinds of "menace to society"?

which laws are you referring to, exactly?
it would

Of course they do, being drunk in public is illegal, only enforced when someone is a public menace. Otherwise you could just tell a copper to go jump as you aren't doing anything illegal. Sometimes police use judgment and pick and choose when they want to apply these laws but I am 100% serious when I say I do not want drugs to be legalised. If every one in society was able to prove to me they are responsible drug users I might change my mind but in the mean time I am happy with the status quo. Sure it comes with great personal risk, but one I am willing to shoulder if it means the streets are generally safer.

I suggest you look strongly at the de-criminalisation of drugs on portugal... ;-) .. It has worked WONDERS over the past 5 years - A decent amount of time - In reducing deaths, HIV rates, drug addiction and violence and theft related to drugs

ALthough not LEGAL.. you can still have like a few o's of coke on you if you claim its "perso"

We have gone WELL beyond a nanny state !

We are now in a police state - There have been over 278 pieces of legislation passed over the last 2 years .. And they have maybe told us about 10-15 publicly.. carbon tax etc..

I mean FIRSTLY MAN!!! FUCK.. we have a fucking government that has shown OPEN DISDAIN for the public... open hatred!

LAUGHING at elderly protesters BEGGING for a voice to be heard in the public gallery.. the ministers sit there MOCKING elderly folks, people that FOUGHT for this country..

Corrupt ministers getting caught FUCKNG KIDS

Ministers using UNION CREDIT CARDS FOR PROSTITUTION! And the gov just COVERS IT UP through the media!

Ministers LYING TO OUR FACES and then claiming they did no such thing

BLATANTLY CORRUPT new speak of the house - member for fucking sunshine coast the guy is as corrupt as they come!

IT goes on and on and on and on..

and until we do something about it we will continue to be LAUGHED AT and fucking treaded on. . THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT US..

When people relalise that the government is being instructed on what moves to make FROM OFF SHORE.. and that they ARE NOT THERE to help you .. the better this country will get.

I need to write up a good piece on this shit as its been a while on here anyways.. just busy at work at the moment.

Legislation killing people - Pink Batts - Nothing came of that! PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DEAD CAUSE OF IT!

THE NBN - Has officially blown out to 50 billiion + - WHERE IS THE FUCKING MONEY!?!! SOmeone got fucking rich. Only 23 people have officially SIGNED UP For the NBN - This is a government form of censorship

Coruption is RIFE through this government

They are all spied on heavily - They all do nasty, dirty, FILTHY disgusting evil things... and the people that control them KNOW their dirty little secrets - When they don't play ball - The secrets are revealed through their privatley controlled media outlets..this is why its ALWAYS A sex scandal with pollies..

They are filthy creatures and they continue to do the deads of their masters because they do not WANT their wife to know about the mistress, or the family/ country to find out they are actually a closet pedophile etc etc..

Its the sickest people that rise to power because THEY WANT THE POWER- THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH EVIL WHEN IN POWER !

"So play ball and you can run riot doing whatever, dont worry about the "voters"mate ;-) they only vote so they THINK they have a say.. at the end of the day we control it.. "

In America I imagine they sit them down in a room full of cigar smoke, a little projector screen comes down and its an angle of the Kennedy assassination they have never seen..

the new president then says "whats my agenda" ;-)

There are only about 10 people that own all the worlds media - COMPLETELY - Is it THAT hard to believe they might all be hanging out and are in cahoots? Same goes for Companys.. there are roughly 100 companys/ cooperations/ GROUPS .. that own EVERY OTHER COMPANY..

just look up who owns citybank.

and what citybank owns.

also have fun researching NABISO - they make oreos... and they also own fucking CAMEL CIGIS ! ;-)

RESEARCH ! The world is strangely like the matrix.. those guys have said its a metaphor for real life (creators of the book- original)

You could look at Sweden, extreme zero tolerance resulting in Sweden having one of the lowest drug usage rates in the western world and a significantly lower HIV rates than Portugal (0.1% compared to 0.6% ).

prohibition makes drugs very expensive.
this money goes into the hands of organised crime. these syndicates become very powerful - look at the situation in mexico. how is that a good outcome for any society? giving obscene wealth and power to organised crime gangs?

regardless of how it effects us personally, i'm kind of tired of this complacent middle-class australian attitude of "well, it doesn't affect me so i don't have a problem with it". this country is getting more selfish and ignorant every year.

the effects of prohibition are many-fold. whilst i agree most people aren't mature enough to handle drug usage responsibly, the situation at the moment is ridiculous. impure/misrepresented drugs sold at a massive profit to people poorly educated about their effects because it's illegal, it's taboo.
yes, progressive policies in countries like portugal have worked very well. this notion of treating people like silly children has to stop - people always have, always will take drugs.
the current legal and political attitude towards drugs has more to do with maintaining the status quo and the profits of pharmaceutical, alcohol and tobacco corporations than it does any concern for people's wellbeing or social order. it's about keeping people down.

Prohibition is far more based on what is called "Offense Principle" in which the state is justified to make some if illegal if it offends public morality and to a lesser but still significant extent "Legal Paternalism" in that the state justified in preventing you causing harm to yourself (but is important to remember this legal paternalism derives from the prevailing attitude that citizens are to some extent PROPERTY OF THEIR STATE than about genuine compassion) than the "Harm Principle" that the state is only ever justified to make something illegal if it cause tangible real world harm to others. This isn't unique to drug prohibition but it is a glaring example. Prohibition continues because of these attitudes as well as the fact that 'tough on drugs' rhetoric is always a vote winner and various corporate and other interests that are invested in it eg. the alcohol (legal for historical and cultural reasons, as well as lobbying clout rather than being safer), pharmaceutical industries, weapons industries (to fight the "Drug War"), police and customs (as prohibition is an endless gravy train) as legalization could have a negative effect on their profits.

The people are meant to control the government. Not the other way around..

I personally don't think its the governments business to be poisoning are water supply with fluoride. The Nazis used this to dull down the prisoners in their camps... ever wonder why there are hundreds of people in front of pits lined up waiting to be machine gunned instead of running the 1-4 people holding the guns?

THEY ARE DRUGGED ON FLUORIDE JUST LIKE THE PUBLIC OF TODAY! This is why the people DO NOT WANT to see the truth..

^ QLD didn't have fluoridation until just very recently and as a state it has put up with a lot of shit from it's politicians regardless. And there is no proof that the Nazi regime used fluoride to make people docile. I'm not a fan of water fluoridation but using conspiracy theories with no evidence to try and criticize the policy is not the right way to try and achieve change or to make arguments to people regarding the issue.

The masses in this country don't need chemicals in the water supply to make them easily manipulated by the government; they are seemingly without minds of their own in the first place and see no need to make themselves more educated about certain issues, including drug prohibition.
