Ageing / Getting Less Attractive

Just started to recognise this as an issue of late. Am sort of suprised that I'm getting a bit down over it too, not my normal reaction to suchlike.

I'm touching 45....even up to 5 or 6 years ago I could pretty much outparty anyone in sight and was usually one of the last on the dance floor at the all-nighters and so on. I was slim and felt vital and I suppose still felt young in some ways and always had interest from the opposite sex.

Now a mere few years later I feel fat (put a couple of stone on after kicking the fags), feel decidedly unattractive, cannot take the pace anymore in general and have practically forgotten how to dance. I used to fucking love dancing and was a fluid groove machine (lol)...feel stunted and awkward with it now, miss it like hell really.

I'm far from a hopeless case, and recognise the gifts that come with ageing as well as the downsides, but am still definitely feeling deflated due to the above....anmybody similar?

I'm surprised that you've reached that age and still haven't figured out that attractiveness isn't only physical.

I'm well aware of that and have no shortage of ladyfriends.

I guess I'm lamenting the loss of youth and vitality....some kinda mid life crisis stylee thing

It seems to me that aging is a bit more cruel to women then it is to men. For example, if a woman spends all of her twenties focused on her career, she'll hit thirty and realize that she only has a few child-bearing youthful years left in her. Compare that to a guy who spends his twenties focused on his career, and it's almost guaranteed that his ability to attract a mate has increased, and he also has another 15 good years before aging really impact his sexuality.

I am 52. I look better in some ways than I did 10 years ago... I found myself, if that does not sound TOO corny. In finding myself, I mean with the kids grown, I looked at me and started finding my own style and doing my own thing.

Even so, I am almost at the end... almost an unfuckable.

It hasn't completely happened yet.

But I can see it coming.

Gaining weight bashes in my self esteem and zest for life. Get active, brother! Start feeling sexy again.

I am 38 and miss going out dancing but even 7 years ago when I was still clubbing I was starting to feel like I didn't fit in anymore.

Older guys are so *tiger growl* Don't let aging get you down.

My beau is 46, and has a much younger demeanor. Yeah, he has some wrinkles but people are always surprised to find out his actual age. He is still very handsome and fit, and able to stay up all night dancing.

I am turning 37 in a month, but am also mistaken for being at least 10 years younger on a regular basis. I certainly am not going to stop dancing ever. Nor do I feel out of place at all either. Just dance more and be happy.

Age is a mindset anyhow. I feel like a little kid sometimes. Attractiveness is a lot about attitude more than anything, anyway. If you appear young and vibrant then most people will assume you are as such. If you feel old and awkward then that will show through too.

I just love this ageing is in the mind stuff. No it's not: ageing is your knees starting to creak, ageing is thinking that the police look like kids, aging is being concerned about your grandchild mixing in the wrong circles. Ageing is walking instead of running, ageing is not being able to pee properly, ageing is having to wear reading glasses, ageing is thinking that candy tastes disgustingly sweet, ageing is not being able to chew meat because your gums hurt, or your dentures are loose, ageing is thinking that 99% of tv programmes are inane, ageing is not being to be able to buy drugs because no dealer has confidence in you, ageing is people taking your arm and helping you cross the road, ageing is when social workers call you gramps.

I think its all about your frame of mind and cycles. I am 25 and have just started to feel "old" ... getting down on myself for not having that "lets stay up for three days strait attitude!" ... BUt I also see the benefits, I'm just slowing down
