So my roommates are short a very small amount of money for rest. 300-400 bucks. They need a loan. They had a few options but they didn't work out and now there really in trouble. Im wondering does anyone have a idea of how they could get a small loan of 300-400 bucks. There both on disability, on is mental one is work related. Anyway... are there any programs out there, or websites, or governmental programs maybe I could send them to? I feel bad, stuffs getting bad for them and im about to move out I just would feel better if I could help them out in some way. Im close to lending them the money my self.. but I don't want to because quit frankly I know it would take them along time to pay me back, and I don't have much my self... im going to need my cash to move, but I don't want them to end up on the street.. there nice people in a bad position. Thanks for information.

Dont get involved, its not your problem. If they both on disability they surely have time to do their own research.

I'd start calling any organisations in your area that might help. Actually, I'd advise them to start doing so themselves. Do they have any family that can spot them?

Perhaps they can speak with the landlord? I know over where I am, there is quite a bit of leeway before you can actually get thrown out.

Sorry I don't know anything specific, but I'd be advising them to get calling, and to budget more carefully in future.

Are you in the US? If they are disabled, they may be eligible for Social Security Disability Income (SSDI). Check out ssa.gov. If they are eligible, they will get like $600 or $700 a month plus Medicare benefits. I think you can apply online. There are other agencies that help with stuff too, but they vary from state to state. Google is your friend.

You may have them contact their local Human Services office.
Like JA said above, they may be able to get on SSI, but in the meantime, they might qualify for state disability.
If they need the money for something like rent, food or electricity/gas- the state may be able to help.
You can look into what is available for you/them on a local level.

^If they're on SSI, have them contact their case worker.
They should also be able to get into a Social Security supported rental......?
The state will usually help people in a position like that- they want to PREVENT homelessness.
Suggest they contact their county office.

^ Good advice.

Also, depending on the state and your location they may also try contacting legal services at a law school clinic or a non-profit organization. They provide free legal advice and advocacy regarding leases for people who are having problems (at least they do at my university). What state are you in?
