Research tattoos and symbolism. Get a beautiful tattoo that represents your relationship in some way, (for me, a koi fish represents swimming upstream, because I'm in an unconventional, older/younger relationship). If you really care about her, take the time to think of something more creative than her name. What is something special about the two of you? What symbol represnts what youve been through together. Example- if your relationship has been through hardship, get a tattoo of a phoenix -rising from the ash and starting anew. Think of some animals that mate for life, and get a tattoo of one of them. If you must get her name, have it added as a small signature to the larger tattoo, like an artist signature on a painting. Personally, I don't like large letter tattoos, but there are plenty of reasos why tattooing a lovers name is a bad idea. However, with a small signature on a bigger piece, you could always pass it off as the tattooist's signature or something. I have relatives who tattooed matching moustaches on their index fingers as a "wedding ring" which represented something strange and quirky (just like them). Be creative.
