if i know i could stop within the next month is it ok to continue use of crack cocaine? Im a 19 year old male with no health issues and im neither under nor over wight. i use it extreamly infrequently, the last 2 weeks have been nearly every day or toher day uses. once a day max.

i know this cannot continue i do not want to be a crack head. Should i keep useing for the next month and then stop i feel like i need the time to eb able to completely be ready to be finished wiht the drug for the rest of my life.. is this delusional?

Should i go cold turkey and run the risk?

and finnally since i have smoked crack before i know my bondy doesnt have adverse reactions to it, therefor is it safe to say i shouldnt worry about dieing from smoking small doses one time a day say once or twice a week for the enxt monnth?

I think it's a dangerous tactic.. it's like a heroin addict promising themselves one last shot before they quit or an alcoholic having one last binge. Why stop in a month rather than now? I think you are kidding yourself personally..

Do you really want to stop? Then stop. What risk is there to stopping "cold turkey"? It'd not like opiates or benzos where tapering is useful - it's a stimulant, so although you have come-downs, you don't have actual withdrawals and stopping dead is fine - infact due to the fiendish nature of stims, it is usually far more effective than trying to taper down.

As for dying.. the main risk is a heart attack, so if your doses really are low and you're not doing anything to exacerbate the risk then in theory you should be okay - but the purity of street drugs varies a lot so it's impossible to know that you are definitely having the same dose each time. We can never say that something is 100% risk free! I'd be more worried about long-term damage and you not being able to keep your use down to once or twice a week when you have been used to using daily.

I think you need to try to be completely honest with yourself about why you want to wait a month and what is going to be different a month down the line. I also think you need to work out how you are going to keep yourself clean once you quit. You've gone from occasional to daily use so the drug clearly has a hold over you - how will you keep yourself from having it "just the once" or "one last time" when you quit?

I'm not saying you can't do it :) just that you have to be realistic about it.

Good luck! :)

It sounds to me like you are already addicted and trying to rationalize your usage.

Stop now, cold turkey. Don't look back.

This. Your cravings will end and you'll feel like a better person when they do.

I was addicted to sniffing cocaine. I realized that I was putting myself through too much drama to get my fix. When I finally got my fix, it was never good enough. 8)

Think of the experiences that are worth the time you put into achieving them. I doubt crack is on that list. ;)

Haha fixed.

Poppa.. you are without a doubt rationalising your usage and it does sound like you are addicted. If you are planning on stopping, do it right now. Get support if you need it, but you are kidding yourself that a month down the line you will suddenly feel like you are ready to quit..

If you need support with the psychological difficulties related to addiction and quitting, I suggest taking a look in The Dark Side forum, and getting some support from friends/family/professionals.

Good luck :)

I'd quit now... I've been in your shoes (except it was a little less often but multiple times per day on the using days), and after about a month passed and I was able to look back at the previous months, I was a bit turned off to the whole experience. It really does seep over into every aspect of your life even if it doesn't appear like it at this point.

You can stop cold turkey for sure. There's no reason not to do so with cocaine. There's no need to taper or anything like that; just stop, and you'll feel your head clear out over the next few days/ weeks. After that happens, I think you'll be inclined to not get in this situation again.

Good luck.

Quit now, remove yourself from the environment in which you would use, and as lewed said, don't look back.

The most disturbing part of any addiction is the insane rationalizations and lies we feed ourselves.

i been hooked on the pipe for about 2yrs now when i moved down to houston TX, and brought my habit to NY, purity is high most of the time, and many times i felt as if i was gloing to have a heart attack by taking just one hit(panic attack, tingling in the head, etc)...heart attacks can happen...STOP NOW, dont rationalize...tapering with stimulants IMO is a chase and leaves you to end up relapsing to get that solid buzz...just stop cold turkey...you wont experience withdrawl EXCEPT depression for the first 24hrs after u stop..crack addiction is a bitch..its JUST LIKE a cigarette, but with more intense effects and repricussions...

Yeah man. You're irrationally justifying your usage because youre a regular user. You just can discern the difference of it because... your high on crack.. This happened to me with meth. As soon as i realized it when i was coming down (after getting fired for being late after trying to score some more) I stepped on the ball of my Pyrex and snapped that fucking shit. Havent fucked with it since. Run away fast man.

Just think about it this way; how much money do you spend on crack? save that money, not for college but to buy some speed and fuck some girls if you're lucky enough not to pay. This here is sound advice, wish i would have that advice taken it when i was your age now i'm a bitter 25 year old man.

PS: this isn't my real advice go to college if you can, it won't make a shit difference but it will land you a job and give you a few yaears to learn and grow.

Another thought; if you had an unlimited supply of crack *yo're a cartel leader*. Ok, so you have protection, girls and all the coke in the world, freebased. Would you really just let it all go over crack? I highly doubt it so why let it destroy you now. If things turn out really shitty you can go always go back to crack but not the other way around.

As already stated by others, why wait a month? Sounds to me that you are already enjoying it too much.
Stop now not in a months time. Stopping is only gonna get more difficult the longer you carry on using. Quite now while you are still ahead of the game.

this actually really worked quite well, i got a lil sick when i heard this. Makes me rlly hope i dont turn out like this.

Forgive me if anyone thinks I'm trying to flame you or anything because I'm not, but this type of question really pisses me off, especially because I am a recovering alcoholic and as an addict rationalizing, making excuses, or asking can I or should I? These are caliber addict questions / behaviors. When is comes to drugs of any kind, if you have to ask yourself can I, should I? NO YOU SHOULDN'T! Bottom line.. If you have to ask other people then it tells me that your looking for someone, just one person to say, yeah it's ok to go and continue to abuse something that is gonna kill you. Sorry for sounding like a prick about it but it bugs me to see people waste their lives when they know the answers already.

Had you asked something a little more respectful to yourself like, should I continue with out help because I am concerned about the dangers of cold stopping a drug then I wouldnt be so hard on ya about this. Like one of the guys said, it's a stimulant so unlike Alcohol or Benzo's where cold turkey could actually kill you, or cold turkey with an opiate could cause you to become majorly sick and is moderately dangerous, there is little if no known dangers to quitting crack cold turkey, so don't ask for our approval, just do it, clean yourself up, or the next month may not actually be your last, but could wind up being just the beginning of a very long painful sad addiction. Again, I'm not trying to flame ya here but, I have to be blatantly honest. Good luck!

Its pretty simple from an outsiders view Poppa, your getting a serious crack habit. I've never messed with crack but did get into plain coke for a couple of years and that was really getting as grip on me.

Your smoking this shit all the time you have a problem, constantly posting about whether or not you should stop or how to make a better pipe isn't really helping you.

You're either going to make the decision to stop soon or things are going to get much much worse, this is'nt a case of smoking crack everyday might cause you a problem, it will cause you a problem, you life will be decimated by it as I'm sure sure many people will testify.

You can stop being a crack user this very second, have a bit of inspiration :-

Poppa... I've let this run for quite a while now, but everyone is saying the same thing. Your recent threads, plus this one, make me very concerned for your health. Please stop the crack! <3

If you are finding things hard, feel free to come over to The Dark Side forum to talk about any problems you might have with addiction and stopping - it's full of friendly and supportive people who understand.

Here is a link to the thread for people discussing stopping crack/cocaine and the problems with their use.

Good luck. You know what you have to do! <3
