Important 2CE Question

My boyfriend is having a rather bad trip on 2CE. We were both wondering if it would be safe to take a Valium to calm him down?
We estimate that he took about 20mg thirty minutes ago. He's not having a fun time at all, and we both just want him to be calm.

Answers much appreciated. =]

You shouldn't take my advice as I'm not experienced enough with 2c-e, but I would take the Diazepam, yes.
I think live reports like this are discouraged, not sure how long ago you posted this (different time zone)

But what did you end up doing if it was a while ago?
Perhaps send an experienced user that's online a PM.. if you want a resonably trustworthy answer..

Good luck.

I'm not sure about the possible interactions. Did you say you're boyfriend was already in tripping 20 minutes into a 2c-x compound, that doesn't sound right.

Generally they take 2-3 hours before the actual psychedelic effects are felt - during the come up there are some stimulant effects, but the "trip" shouldn't be present by then, from what I've read and experienced with 2c-i as well.

Yeah, he felt it in about ten minutes and has been having a horrible trip ever since. All of the usual effects we've read about the drug.

A short timely answer:
Taking benzos to calm down while tripping is quite safe, and, to my knowledge, it is used as first medical treatment by emergency service.

A more long but still not so detailed answer:
Yes, benzos are often used as 'trip killers', and while they don't completely diminish effects of psychedelics, they blunt their effects to the great extent. If your boyfriend feels like he should took a benzo pill - my advice is to do this. 2C-E is quite potent, profound and somewhat 'harsh' drug, even experienced trippers can be blown away by it.

What is more important in the long-term perspective is why your boyfriend is having bad trip. A bad/difficult experience is often a sign of internal problems and conflicts. Psychedelics cab bring them to the surface and make you face the problems. Many difficult experiences are healing(but still some of them are traumatizing). Taking a benzo pill is counteraction and resistance to this effect, the effect which may have positive consequences. This doesn't cancel my previous advice: after all, your boyfriend knows his mind and his body better than a random guy from the internet(and like I said there shouldn't be any bad interaction between benzos and psychedelics).

So my second advice is to think about this difficult trip.

I gave him the valium. I'm moderating him and talking to him to keep him calm. Listening to classical music and eating, haha.

Anyway, the reason why he wanted to try it out tonight was because we've had a stressful time these last few weeks. He's never used a psychedelic before, so we didn't know the kind of effect it would have, especially on his thinking. He's experimented with MDMA and benzos, because they help him explore his mind. This is, of course, having a completely opposite effect. So thank you for letting us know that, it's very helpful.

Stressfull past few weeks?
Definately not the right time to use 2c-e, you need to be relaxed with nothing stressing you or bothingering you a lot, set and setting is everything remember.

also, 20mg is quite the strong dose here, especially when looking for a fun recreational trip for a non psychedelic user. glad he did the right thing of having a caring sitter with him though. cheers to you for sticking by!

Thank you for all of the replies.

We definitely didn't realize how this type of drug works, and we both should have read a little bit more about it.
He snorted the 20mgs, and we read later that when you do it nasally like that, you should only take, like, 5. Probably won't be experimented too much with this type of thing anymore, and if we do, will definitely take experience and information more into account.

He came down a few hours after the Valium and is feeling a lot better today. Really glad that I signed up for this forum, you guys helped out a lot, so thanks. =]

He's experiencing bad effects only 30 minutes after ingestion? The "trip" doesn't even really begin until 50 to 75 minutes after orally administering it. In my experience, the come-up is accompanied by a fair bit of anxiety; however, after the psychedelic effects kick in, I have not encountered many issues.

EDIT: Disregard this. I did not know he had snorted it.

Yeah, snorting 20mg for your first time, ESPECIALLY after having a few stressful weeks, is recipe for disaster.

Next time around, only take around 10-12mg orally, and make sure he's in a proper set and setting (set being his mind set, as in nothing bad going on in his life, and setting being the place where he's taking the drug.)

I can understand why he had a bad time, eating 20 mgs could easily cause somebody to feel bad especially if they've never tripped before, snorting that much would be stronger still. 2CE is in my opinion the most powerful 2C in terms of intensity and overall effects.

10mg is a very low starting dose and might give a lot of people a rather bad first impression of 2ce (muscle tension, vague stimulation, slight nausea, very little in the way of visuals or aural enhancement...), 15mg is a better starting dose IMO

You can always re-dose an hour or two in if you don't feel like it's enough, but it's always better to be safe than sorry (ESPECIALLY for somebody new to psychedelics.)
