Opioids Do opiates just not work with me?

I recently began to experiment with opiates and got ahold of some percocets 5/500. I read that taking 3-5 would be a good high so I decided to take 4.

For some reason all it did to me was make me cranky and nothing else. A week or so later I tried again with 6 pills and an hour later took 2 more. All that happened to me was it made me a bit slow and cranky.

So then I got vicodin 7.5/ 800 (I believe there was this much aspirin) and took 4 only to have nothing happen except the crankiness.

So do is there something I'm doing wrong? Or do opiates just not work orally for me? I ate them on an empty stomach and eat relatively healthy. I've never felt the opium bliss my friends get when they take 1-2 of either percocet or vicodin.

thats waaaay too much paracetamol dude. learn how to do a CWE

it can take some time to appreciate opiates. they can be quite subtle sometimes.

No, they probably work fine for you. It just takes a while to learn to feel the opiate high for some unknown reason. My first 10-15 times taking opiates I never felt the euphoria that I had read so much about. I thought they didn't work for me. Now I am a heroin addict. If you keep trying, I can virtually guarantee you will eventually experience the high, but you might end up regretting it because they are quite addictive.

ohh yeah the times i did large doses i did a CWE. and i think its cuz im usually a stimulant kind of guy but im probably not guna do it again unless i use it on a stim comedown

^^^ All the sudden your saying that you did a CWE, yet before you mentioned they had "800mg aspirin". Vicodin don't have aspirin, in fact, virtually no opiates have aspirin. And at 15, I couldn't feel 20mg hydro. Somethings funny here...

On a side note, why does everyone say it takes time to "appreciate" opiates. The first time I ever got prescribed percocet as a teen, I took a few, felt great, took a few more, fucking nodded on the couch for hours. From that point on, I said "I wanna feel this way every day". It evolved into methadone a couple of years down the road, and it was "this is the person I want to be, that I NEED to be" as I was, for the first time ever, able to function in the real world. OK, I got off point there, but I still don't understand how people don't love it the first time, unless they try hydro first, as hydro sucks so much, I have NEVER been high off of it a day in my life, or if they take too much and get sick.

Different people react differently. I think a minority of people taking opiates get high their first time. The rest experience mainly sedating, itching, nausea and maybe a little euphoria. But with repeated use, the side effects lessen and the euphoria increases.

why does the experience get better with more use? to get to the better high wouldnt your tolerance go up considerably?

Well, at first as your body gets used to being on opiates the side effects diminish and the euphoria becomes more pronounced. Then as you continue to use them, you eventually build a tolerance to the euphoria as well and it becomes less pronounced. Basically, opiates are a type of drug that is best enjoyed with some tolerance. But you don't want too much tolerance. The exact scientific reasons for this I don't know.

oh i get you. once your reach the "sweet spot" you taper your use. that seems like a chore if you just want to get high and not somewhat use opiads regulary haha

If you didn't enjoy opiates, you should just stop using them. There is no point in continuing to use them in hopes that you may eventually enjoy them, especially since they are extremely addictive.

2000mg's is only a lot if you got liver issues, the denist will dose you 1-2 pills every 6 hours. I think some people just find
Cwe's fun...

Tommyboys got a point too, I would stop experamenting with them before they do start to "work" for. If it evolves into addiction... well its not a prosperous road I suppose would be a way to phrase it. I use to dose to self medicate and really its pathetic to realie on narcotics just to achieve a mentel state that let's you drift threw the day. I cleaned upand after some work on myself, and experimenting again with opiates, there not that much fun and soberiety is way better.

Your not missing anything bro but maybe some drug induced sleep and possable misery and all the bs that comes with addiction. I'm glad I quit before I had legal health problems from shooting dope and all the dumb shit I did. Glad I'm not 30-40 years old and half my life spent a junkie.

Some people don't enjoy opiates; I do find that you have to anticipate the effects somewhat and be in a relaxed, happy mood to get the most out of them.

It's also good to note that oxycodone does not play well with everyone. Some people just get irritable or sick on it. With continued usage, however, tolerance will build to the sickness-causing effects and you will realize more about how opiates work best for you.

If you don't get good effects off of 3-5 percocets, save them for when you break your arm or something. There's no good reason to build dependence to a drug (which will happen with continued usage, regardless of if you feel the "good" effects or not) if you're not getting pleasurable effects from it.

Man, Percs...those were the days...wish I could rewind.

thanks for the responses everyone. i will not be using them anymore. its to expensive without a script anyways and not worth the huge addiction potential.

Socalpopper, do you have red hair?

I find that most the times people don't get off on their first uses is for one of 2 reasons. They got sick(took too much, or are too sensitive) or they didn't take enough. And as they keep using they get braver until the dose is right.

I know I loved opiates the first time I took enough, was scripted oxy when I was 14. Had never really done more than pop a couple vics and copped a slight buzz before that. But even at the hospital they kept having to redose, redose, and redose some more. The doctor told me it was because I had red hair. Said something about red haired(or that genetic pool) people having a higher natural tolerance to opiates. I just thought he was full of shit and never looked it up.

But when I got home, I ran through that oxy script in 2 days, i felt grrreeeaat!

man oh fuckin man that brings back memories.......the first time i tried heroin i was really into coke, which i loved for all reasons, and still do-but i sniffed 1/2 a bag, puked and was high as hell, but i didn't like it really AT ALL-and the dude who gave it to me said then DON't DO IT AGAIN, because you will get "over the hump" and love it....so i quickly ignored the advice and did it every day for 5 months catching my first of MANY MANY habits.....that was in 1997....

LOFL My best friend is red-headed(but he's a "day-walker", not a full-blooded ginger), and he had an unimaginably low natural tolerance, so I have my doubts about that! Granted, after a decade of knowing me, he isn't a complete pussy anymore, but still, he's the kind of guy that's "straight" off of a couple of perc 10's. And even a spec of suboxone makes him puke; I mean this guy has snorted LESS THAN 200 MICROGRAMS and puked and whined. Fucking waste of drugs...

BTW, ignore my last post, I was high and apperantly thought I was replying to a completely different thread...:\

I'm not comparing alcohol to Oxy/Hydro, but you know how most people get clumsy& happy when they drink ?
Then you have people that get loud & cranky when drinkin' ?? Save pain pills for when your in pain...
