Tonight was a victory followed by a overwhelming sense of triumph (although that was just the drugs working 
).
It seems that the Methylphenidate situation in NZ has changed, with most of the easier-to-inject pills no longer seeming to be available (I could be wrong, but I haven't seen them for more than a year) in favour of concerta, LA Ritalin (capsules with little beads that are a bitch to crush) and the wax-based rubifen. After several failed attempts at prepping 20mg rubifen for IV (I am not a regular IV user and try to keep high standards when I do IV- even if that means eating/plugging failed attempts to get a clean solution) I decided that I needed to try a new approach. The problem seemed to be that the methylphenidate was essentially encased in the wax, crushing the pills and backloading them and trying a wheelfilter as normal resulted in clogged filters (even trying to use a higher gauge initial filter), gentle heating in a spoon, being careful not to let it boil, resulted in an equally unfilterable gloop.
Then it struck me, I finely ground up another pill and put it in a small V-shaped measuring cup with 3cc of water (for reasons that I've never understood, 3ml barrels w/ 26/27 gauge needles are standard in NZ) and put it in the microwave. I turned down the temp. as low as it could go (apparently 90 degrees C) and heated it in short 5-10 second bursts, making sure it didn't boil and letting it cool down for around 30 seconds between each burst and stirring occasionally with a clean metal skewer. As you stir you I noticed that large amounts of wax immediately stuck to the skewer and when tasted had no chemical taste- like eating a candle. After doing this until no wax stuck to the skewer when I stirred I left it to cool for around 10 minutes then sucked the, still cloudy, solution into a barrel w/ a 16g blunt needle. Left in the measuring cup was a great deal of wax which had caked around the sides- this also was free of any noticible chemical taste. I wheel filtered this to yield a perfectly clear solution. Having bigger plans for the evening I plugged it just to confirm that I had managed to get most of the methylphenidate out, and not simply destroyed the methylphenidate with the microwave. Within 10 minutes I knew that I had succeeded- it was definately 80%+ of the 20mg.
That was just the test run, I repeated the whole process with 3 20mg rubifen resulting in a 3ml clear solution. Into the same 5ml barrel was drawn up 1ml of 2mg/ml midazolam and 1ml of 100mg/ml O-Desmethyltramadol, both from vials that I had prepared earlier (thanks Captain Heroin! You're the coolest superhero!). It may not have been a speedball, but to be honest I've always been more partial to heroin + amphetamine rather than heroin + cocaine (even if you could get coke in the land I call home) and this blew IV-amphetamine out of the fucking water. The O-Desmethyltramadol doesn't have much of a rush when IV'd, but in combination with midazolam and a decent dose of methylphenidate it provides a rush that is unique, enjoyable and has legs. The rush was also more prolonged than a straight heroin rush or a traditional speedball- desmethyltramadol is a kinda slow-moving, long lasting opiate meaining it synergises well with methylphenidate which is sort of like slow moving, long lasting low-quality-speedy-cocaine. The midazolam was just there to help kick up the desmethyltramadol and give that immediate godlike-rush that IV is all about.
I'm really interested in getting my hands on some dexmethylphenidate, 60mg of that sounds like the perfect seasoning for IV opiates. Pity it's not available here, you Americans get all the breaks.
This could totally have been a trip report, but I'd rather not advertise extremely reckless polydrug use. I wouldn't reccomend that anyone tries this combo, but if you're already no stranger to shooting upper/downer combos then methylphenidate, despite its medicore reputation, is worth the effort. The Midazolam was probably unnecessary, but was that little hedonistic cherry on top; not to mention the most dangerous thing about that combo. I think I may explore this combo further, substituting the desmethyltramadol for morphine, heroin or oxymorphone and cutting out the midazolam.
