[Mega] The "Why won't MDMA work for me?" thread

It tasted sort of sweeter than usual...

mdma is so fucking bitter it can practically numb your tongue. not in a coke type of way but in a "this is so fucking bitter it destroyed my tastebuds" type of way.

if it tasted sweet at all then by the very least it's cut. if it tasted sweet enough to where it was more sweet than it was bitter, then it's safe to assume it was cut HEAVILY with something sweet

always test your shit.. if you get around 90-120 mg of MDMA then you'll roll!

Why doesn't Ecstasy have the "normal" effect on me?

I've recently been experimenting with ecstasy with my friends and I do not have the same feelings they go through, although I still enjoy it nonetheless. Never had eye wiggles, jaw clenching, not sensitive to lights or vicks, definitely do not have the urge to get up and dance, and I do not have the urge to just want to hug everybody. We take the same pills and my friends seem to have the "normal" ecstasy experience. Nevertheless I enjoy taking it; it makes me feel very relaxed and carefree and I love the spaced out floating feeling. I enjoy it more when I'm alone at home and can just chill listening to loud music or even while watching some soft porn on skinemax. Do you think one's personality can affect the way ecstasy works on you? I guess I'm more of an introverted person, not very outgoing, and I don't really like to dance anyway. So maybe since i'm not the type of person to go around hugging people or since i don't necessarily like meeting and talking to strangers/new people, it just doesn't bring that out in me?

About 15 years ago I was on Prozac for around 4 months. I stopped it because I didn't like the side effects like dizziness and nausea. I know it's somehow related to to what MDMA is or does and was wondering if maybe it did something to my serotonin levels or receptors or whatever? I know it does have something to do with serotonin just like ecstasy.

I think you may have a different tolerance to your friends or it may be possible that they are taking more that you are. Jaw and teeth clinching is usually experienced when you are on a higher dose. Not something I would recommend you to do though.

Also note that enjoyment is relative. From what you have decfribed you seem to have enjoyed more. Jaw clinching is not necessarily associated with having a better time, remember.

I find MDMA (now anyway) a very calm experience, and sometimes fairly anti-social. I'm actually more into dancing, meeting new people, and "clearer" when I drink than when I roll.

It's a very personal experience- you already ruled out anti-depressants, so it's not that. I think that's likely to be just how it goes for you.

Yeah... when I was 16 and I first started taking it, I acted like you described your friends to be. Now, I still really enjoy it (more actually) but my perception has changed so much, it's a completely different experience. I get the euphoria, but I feel like I've matured passed the point of wanting to hug everyone, like you said. When I go to raves, people come up to me all the time and ask for hugs and say silly things that I just wouldn't do. I don't mind it, and I get it, but I honestly think it's just a maturity and perspective thing. My boyfriend started rolling with me when he was 23 and he loves it, gets the euphoria, but never did all the typical new roller things.

Last time I rolled I was like that for some reason. I was more in a I feel good leave me alone type then up for meeting new people and talking to them... weird

MDMA no effect?

One time I took 2 MDMA tablets but nothing happened. I knew they weren't fake because of everyone else's behavior lol.

I was taking paxil at the time and I think that made them not work lol

my buddy was taking paxil, and he has the same problem as u, he used to have to take twice as many rolls to feel anything

Paxil is an SSRI and MDMA has no effect on the brain while on SSRI's. The only effects you'll feel from it is the cut.

You'll need to stop the SSRI before it'll have any effect - even then it might not work. Some people find after having used SSRIs and stopped them they still can't get a high from MDMA.

My first few times rolling I was on Prozac and the MDMA worked wonderfully. There are a few SSRIs that its still possible to roll, but with most of them you cant

Telling someone to stop taking a prescribed SSRI, especially one like Paxil, has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever read on this forum. No one listen to this clown, Harm Reduction at its WORST right there.

Actually stoping all those psychiatric meds was the BEST thing I ever did for myself..one doc had me on 12...that was 28-30 pills/day...can you say pharmaceutical company bribed pill pushers?

Well this would explain a lot. I took Prozac about 18 years ago for around 3 months, then stopped since I didn't like the side effects like nausea and light headiness. I wonder if this is causing me to have more mild reactions to ecstasy than my friends. I do feel good after taking, but don't have those extreme side effects like eye wiggles, jaw clenching, sensitive skin, etccc.
