Melbourne - 4/10/00
Last nite we had our first meeting to discuss the direction we are going to take regarding the Bluelight Stall. I would like to thank Kandeman, johnboy, Candyflip, Chemical Generation, Pink & Friend (sorry I'm shocking with names).
1. Project Aim and Objectives - Many scenarios were explored and discussed. It was felt that the best direction at this point in time is to keep it simple. We looked at setting up a stall that would provide various information in regards to drugs and harm minimisation. The stall would also have testers for sale. We also explored the testing side of things and decided that this would be put on hold for the time being until we are established and have our foot in the door. So the aim and objective that we all agreed upon was that the Bluelight Stall would provide information and resources that will empower peopple to make an informed choice regarding their drug consumption.
2. Having established the aim and objective of the stall we moved onto discussing how we were going to achieve it, therefore looking at the specific service we are going to provide. A Bluelight pamphlet was decided would be a good idea - providing a range of information all referenced for reliable sources. At this point we have decided that any information relating to any pre and post loading regime would be left out. As we all know - they are based on personal exprerience and cannot be backed up by any medical research. Therefore to protect our credibility it will be left out. We also looked into providing brochures form other organisations (such as the Australian Drug Foundation) in order to provide a full range of information and not looked biased in any way.
Pill testers & Testing - These are two very important components to the stall. Thanks to the kind support of Chemical Generation, testers will be provided to be sold at the stall. Our goal is to set up a testing station, where people can feel safe and secure to have their pills tested - The Peak and Chemical Generation will be further looking into this. It was decided that we first get our foot in door with a rave crew and slowly implement the testing component of the stall.
3. Costs - At this stage we feel that costs will be very minimal in setting up the stall - any costs will be dealt with in-house. A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of testers will be kindly donated to Bluelight by Chemical Generation.
4. Ok - we have decided to aim for the next MUD party (being EPTAS Nov 4th). A letter of introduction is in the process of being drafted and will be sent to the guys at MUD - hopefully we can get some response and a meeting set up. Other rave crews will be targeted and we will not solely rely on MUD. This being the case we need to get our colective butts in gear. We need to delegate a workload and everyone's assistance would be much appreciated!!
Things to be done:
* Bluelight Pamphlet - we need to design a pamphlet - I urge everyone to come up with idea's for a pamphlet - content and design - then we can organise another meeting to decide what is finally printed.
* Bluelight cards - ie. business cards - design and content.
* Tables - where can we source tables for the stall
* Tent/Petition boards
Other's present at the meeting please add your comments regarding the meeting as I'm sure I've left alot out

I urge all Buleighters to get invloved in some way!!!

Hard_e1 - any assistance will be greatly appreciated - let me know (either on this thread or through email) hgow you would like to get involved.
At the meeting we also discussed how much we could learn from the experiences of Dancesafe in the States. I think we need to contact them and let them know our intentions and see if any assistance (such as procedure) can be gained. JB - did you say you already had a contact at Dancesafe. Here is link that can further give us ideas.

Well done Haste.
The RaveSafe info is great.
If we can do this in partnership with RaveSafe it will save us all a lot of work. Is there any possibility of making some sort of arrangement with them ie. a joint initiative between bluelight/dancesafe .
Can you or Johnboy contact them to find out? If they are open to this idea, how do you think Jase would feel about it?
The other issue is .......
We really need to find out whether we can legally test pills onsite in Australia.
Unfortunately I had no luck with my lawyer friend. She specialises in company law and does not feel she knows enough (like anything) to give us the information we need. I was thinking about contacting Redfern Legal Centre here in Sydney. I'm pretty sure they could put me in contact with someone who can help us.
Regarding Sydney, Brisbane and Perth...
What do you want us to do?
In my opinion it would be sensible to do this strategically ie. Melbourne Bluelighters have decided to concentrate initially on disseminating harm minimisation information - so Sydney, BrisVegas and Perth Bluelighters should do the same.
Pamphlets, leaflets, business cards etc. should be developed following consultation with Bluelighters across Australia. Everyone should be providing the same information.
This will ensure that the information we provide in different cities is factual, consistent, credible and approved (by both Bluelighters and Bluelight administraters).
I think Bluelighters in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane should still meet to discuss this initiative, however any strategies developed at these meetings should be informed by the objectives identified at the Melbourne meeting.
Sydney people....
When do you want to do this? Sometime over the next couple of weeks would be good, particularly if we want to be organised in time for Chemistry 5 in November.

Great work Haste,
I spoke to a lawyer friend of mine and they came up with the following info re testing goods for other people.
Their initial thoughts are that the actual testing of the goods would not be illegal for the person doing the testing as long as they do not take possesion of the goods. It is however, still open to interpretation as it is covered by a couple of acts not just the banned goods act. Something about encouraging the use of an illegal substances. They will look into this further.
With regards to the owner of the goods being tested. Possesion is illegal so in theory they could be arrested.
That's about it really. If I get more I will let you know.

also can you give some more specifications about exactly what you need for the business card and pamplet? ie, size, color depth, info needed on both, is the business card simply a promo for the website, mayebe with our mission statment? just need a little more info.

Just wanted to say well done haste. Thank you for taking the time to organise something I think we have all wanted to do but haven't got off our arses to achieve.
If I was in Australia, I would be helping you out in Sydney, Finn. Guess I'll just have to lend a hand when the stalls are *still* being run in 12 months time
smile.gif

Let me first say thank you so much for everyone's kind words, but I must stress that this has been a team effort from many Bluelighters across the country. Thank you so much
smile.gif

Hard_e1, madmonkey, Adz-O-Rama - well how about making a start on designing a Bluelight Pamphlet - from content to actual design. Do some brain storming on what you think should be included in the brochure, if you can actually come up with a whole brochure that would be fantastic. In the end we will go through them all and come up with the final product.
Please,if anyone has got any time to spare your ideas would be much appreciated!! Just come up with designs for brochures, flyers and business cards - let the artistic juices flow!!!
Finn - At the momment I think you should organise a meeting up in Sydney and see what assistance you can get from Bluelighters up there - you will have to share the workload. Have the meeting because I am very curious to see what idea's you may come up with - possibly issues we have missed. As far as testing is concerned I strongly suggest you take a back seat for now. If you can further research the legalities that will be be of assistance to you down the track. We are going to slowly implement it down here in Melbourne and test the waters as we go. Let's get a foot in the door and gain some credibility. A meeting will give you a foundation and direction to work from. Maybe you can even set up a meeting with Timothy Moore from the Redfern Legal Service?
tranquilo - I'm not sure about what happen in the past (before my time), nor does it matter to this current project. We greatly need your passion and I would like to think that you could help in some way.
miss apple - thank you for your kind words *big hugzzzz*. And yes - your assistance will be required in 12 months time

Melbourne News
I have received an email from RaveSafe asking that we set up a meeting to discuss how we can help each other. I am awaiting a call back to finalise a time. I think RaveSafe might be an easy way for us to get our foot in the door. Mibrane - thank you for your time and efforts for organising this.
Thats enough rambling from me

Hi guys, no i didn't drop off the face of the earth...difficulty in getting access to a computer actually.
You guys are great..things seem to be finally on their way..
Finn..Wednesday is good for me, if it is for everyone esle as im at uni on the other days...though I may be able to skip it if need be.
I think providing info first and selling testers is definatley the way to go uuntil we get the legality side of things sorted for the actual testing.
Oh yeah and Finn, can you email me if ive missed anything? Id really like to help get this going for chemistry.
XSI11V volunteered his design expertise to assist in the information presentation and has also informed me he may be able to print short runs for us also. If your out there buddy, is it still possible? Please let us know.
And yes, i think all information shold be presented the same in all states..ie we all distribute the same brochures.
I havent heard back from energy emperors of late, so ill email them soon and let them know we're interested in an information stall if all sydney BL"s agree. Or i can wait till a meeting is set..perhaps we could ask them to come along??
Some ppl have emailed me in regards to what they can help with...this is great and im sure all BL's thank you. Ill email each of you soon, lots of mail built up while i gone.
Chat soon aye??

Temptress - I will be able to co-ordinate alot of the design, business cards, etc with XSI11V as I am in semi-regular contact with him.
This will help to ensure the end product is consistant across all states!
Yay!
