Your top 5 "drug movies" & what you watch when you're high...

What I watch when I'm stoned (films and television):

1. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
2. Trainspotting (Begbie!!!)
3. Dr. Who
4. Farscape
5. Queen of the Damned

Begbie is the best! Loved him in the book and the sequel and prequel...and Robert Carlysle is amazing as him. He said he would play him again for free if Danny Boyle made Porno, the sequel. Where he is ten times radger!

1. Fantasia (1940)
1. Fantasia (1940)
1. Fantasia (1940)
1. Fantasia (1940)
1. Fantasia (1940)

Waking Life (2001) is all right too I guess

Zedneg.. I had never heard of Christiane F til I read your post.. As a result I have watched it and it's probably my number 1 now too BUT..just wondered if there is a version that's been dubbed as opposed to subtitles? Does anyone know.. Also is the book worth reading after seeing the film. Shoulda done it the other way round really

I personally love watching Dynamo when I'm wankered. It sorta adds a bit more magic to the whole ambience. Specially when he does his mind games.

Trainspotting and Requiem for a Dream are definitely my favorite :)

I recently watched Alice in Wonderland while on LSD. Fucking blew my mind.

I watch a lot of shit high but the most surprisingly amazing experience was watching the entire Eureka 7 Anime Series non stop across a 2-3 day meth binge, sitting in a dark room with the curtains drawn and alot of supplies to keep you alive throughout. I have never experienced anything as satisfying as that experience with any drug. And I have watched a lot of other stuff on meth in the same way without this result. This combo was perfection somehow.

I've seen English versions on torrent sites but not sure if it's dubbed or subtitled...
There's a French dubbed version on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dCU9ecNPBk

I really loved the book when I read it as a teenager, read it multiple times, I found it very honest and touching. I was 13 or 14 when I read it, and I was heading on a similar path, so it had quite an effect on me.

when it comes to film and drugs i am most comforted/moved by a movie while on the tail end of an acid trip. once the craziness is over but i'm still buzzing, a little frazzled and finally ready to settle in, i'll pop a benzo, smoke copious amounts of weed, and watch one of the following:

Festival (1967) - a documentary about the Newport Folk festival, all black and white footage compiled from 1963-1966. It features performances from Bob dylan, Howlin Wolf, Joan Baez, Son House, Johnny Cash and a bunch of lesser known local acts and festival goers performing from their tents. I'm not even crazy about folk music, but this movie is awesome and incredibly effective at immersing you in the wonder that the youth of that era felt discovering the roots of American music for the first time, just before the psychedelic era would take it to the world stage. Great performances and very heart-warming.

Sunshine (2007) - I don't know why more people didn't like this, it's one of my favorite sci-fi flicks, period. 50 years in the future the sun is dying and a manned mission, the Icarus I is sent to re-ignite it and save the planet. It disappears. The movie is about the Icarus II and its mission to the deliver a payload to the center of the sun. Apart from being visually stunning and bordering on horror as well as sci-fi in some moments, this film has a lot of philosophical themes that i found very poignant. yeah, it's a Hollywood sci-fi flick, but it's also a cool marriage of science and humanity.

The Darjeeling Limited (2007) - I love Wes Anderson and I have 2 brothers, so this one hits close to home from me. It's classic, dark Wes Anderson humor, but the ending gets super heavy and always leaves me extremely contemplative.

Sorry to anyone expecting another breathtakingly banal "movies bout drugs to watch on drugs" bullshit list. I love film, and I use drugs, but there are countless other facets to my personality and a lifetime of experience that speaks to me from the screen. Give these flicks a chance, you'll probly dig em =D

In no particular order:

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

Ugh, theres way too many. Scarface, The Salton Sea, Fear and Loathing, etc etc...
