Why is it so hard to buy syringes?

I never had problems buying syringes in California. It’s legal. Pharmacists are just being the sadistic pieces of shit they all seem to be
 
In the UK, you can just order a shitload of 40U vet insulin syringes. Me and my ex (who was a vet nurse, when I met her) simply found out a firm that supplied vet syringes. Generally used to go for the narrowest guage needles, as they were going to be used for IM admin (ketamine or mxe for phantom limb pain). Only problem is I'm nauseated by seeing a needle or scalpel enter skin, so the very last bit had to be done without looking (fucking being serious here). The last time I watched, was getting a steroid injection into my wrist, because of carpel tunnel syndrome. The rheumatologist giving me the injection said it was funny that it's always blokes who look like rugby players who have a needle phobia, but this was a 16 gauge needle looking like it was about 5cm into my wrist (looked like a sharpened drainpipe).
Not what I'd call side splitting funny...
