The News Thread v. Your Penises Are Too Large And It's All Our Fault

According to him, he became depressed after receiving restraining orders that kept him from seeing his two daughters. So naturally, he started smoking a lot of weed and reading a book about monks and vasectomies. He decided it best to cut off his penis and jump off a balcony

LMAO

The Wu tang clan ain't nuthin' to fuck wit'...

I thought I'd take this opportunity to bump this thread... not directly relevant to the mystery of MH17.

Ukraine crisis: Russia boosts air force near border

Russia's defence ministry has announced it is holding military exercises this week involving 100 aircraft in the west of the country near the Ukraine border.

Apparently the Ukraine conflict was not even mentioned & 'the exercise was the first in a series intended to improve the unity of the air force.'

Yeah right. 8)

Much like the massive NATO exercises that were going on shortly after this first started. They know that everyone knows the point of these "exercises" but they can't exactly come out and say "We're doing it to give the Ukraine government the fear".

I'm sure some of you will have heard about the plane being escorted back to Manchester yesterday...

Man sectioned over Manchester Airport plane bomb hoax (video report here)

_76768616_76755977.jpg

A man has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act after a bomb hoax resulted in RAF jets escorting a passenger plane to Manchester Airport.

The man, 47, was assessed by medical staff and again by a mental health team after the incident on Tuesday.

An RAF Typhoon was seen escorting the Qatar Airways flight QR23 from Doha after the pilot was handed a note about a possible device on board.

The man was sectioned "for a fuller assessment", police said.

...

Mr Zeb added: "Then I saw all the police with guns. Lots of police everywhere. Kids were crying, some people looked very worried because of rumours there was a bomb on the plane."

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Matt Cox said he was asleep in his seat until the aircraft landed.

He said: "We didn't get told anything about the nature of what was happening at any point.

"It's not nice finding things out from Twitter rather than the people who are supposed to be in charge of you. Obviously we know why they did it."

When I first saw the headline yesterday, I was rather concerned that somehow, someone really had gotten a device on a plane. Would be very disconcerting for someone to have gotten around all the security measures we have these days.

A bit shocking that the passengers weren't told anything. I suppose the pilot wouldn't have wanted to start a commotion.

Will be interested to see if they tell us exactly what mental health problems the hoaxer had.

It would have been a throughly awful idea to tell people there might be a bomb on the plane whilst they're still in the air methinks.

Councils issue health warning on 'laughing gas' use

The LGA issued the warning on behalf of councils, which took over responsibility for public health matters in April 2013.

The gas is inhaled by users in a balloon. The LGA estimates that about 500,000 young people frequently take nitrous oxide.

The LGA warning says regular intake of the chemical can lead to oxygen deprivation, which can result in loss of blood pressure, fainting and even heart attacks.

It also warns that prolonged exposure can cause anaemia, bone marrow suppression and poisoning of the central nervous system.

Never tried NO myself before... would someone really use enough to do that? I must be missing out on something good. :D

I remember hearing about a guy dying from NOS. He'd acquired a tank of it and stuck a binbag over his head with a hose coming from the tank filling it up lol.

You're not going to come to any harm doing balloons. The only issue afaik is a vitamin deficiency (can't remember which one), but even then I reckon you'd have to be tanning the stuff for that to be a problem. As with most things, normal recreational use (not abuse) is perfectly safe.

Yes it's just WRONG. Such a poser. DB Cooper imposter syndrome.

Three men detained in Police Scotland crackdown on 'legal highs'

Police Scotland has led a nationwide crackdown on the sale of "legal highs".

Three people were detained and more than 100 products were seized in raids on shops and other business premises.

They have been sent for forensic analysis as police suspect they could contain harmful substances or controlled drugs.

The raids came at the start of a campaign mounted by police along with trading standards officers, health boards and drugs agencies.

I couldn't really give a toss about the arrests but it is interesting to see police are raiding shops that are selling supposedly legal RCs. I have almost no doubt that many of the RCs will turn up as having illegal substance in them. I wonder if this might have any implications on future bans for some of the currently legal RCs too... even if it's only in Scotland it is sure to attract some attention if anything interesting turns up.

i dont think they can raid shops selling legal drugs, unless they have suspicion to be selling illegal drugs instead. in which case this might not have the impact you were thinking of.

if not, they could be raiding Tescos and test everything there for illegals... therefore i think they had their leads ....

i dont think they can raid shops selling legal drugs,

Please don't kid yourself. I know of head shops that have been put out of business, while doing nothing illegal, purely because of the pressure put on police by residents of certain towns to do so.

indeed shm is correct. the police are and always have been a law unto themselves. its less pronounced nowadays, but still there under the surface - insidious as ever

at this point id usually point out the stamford experiments and what not. but that would be restating a truism, vague, removed and unchangeable. when you experience oppression and/or discrimination or are a victim in some other means, close up - you become intimate with the ugly side. the side that changes statements to implicate innocent football fans of defiling corpses simply to obfuscate their own failings which theyd likely have squirmed out repercussions thereof anyhow. the side in which a station sergeant, no less - feels it safe to - in front of cctv and multiple witnesses - brutally attack and break the nose of a defenceless, detained woman in a cell, who was drunk and perhaps shouting. she, whose taxes are PAID to those entrusted to keep you from coming to harm when overly-inebriated - are, by the very same guardians, viciously assaulted, on camera. that last bit is the important part, for it gives a glimpse of the mindset. a man who was doing what he was socially taught to do, what he sees everyday possibly, without a second thought.. yes, the very same ugly side where a psychotic individual supposedly under oath to serve and protect the public, caught on camera in the very act - is quietly set free from prison after six days

ive experienced it myself many times, where the local bobby with an IQ that would make forrest gump blush - become the arbiter of the law, judge and jury all wrapped up into one, with a sprinkling of god mixed in there. i see this when an acquaintance id grown up with, whose father was a nasty, bully of a man - bent as you get - but happened to be on the police force - his son, out speeding is flashed to pull over by a police car - he doesnt, what he does do is drive over ten miles back home with now three screaming police cars in pursuit, all the way back home, where fat frank the dodgy copper also happened to reside.. now for the uninitiated, if i were to do get caught, doing such a thing - i know from bitter experience, i would be dragged through the window (they tend to smash all the windows on approach to daze and confuse) and enjoy the pleasure of a knee pressing my face into tarmac while cuffs are applied so tight behind you any movement (of which there are plenty) is excruciating.. and then i would likely be looking at a stretch in prison, certainly withdrawal of my right to drive for a while. well, you can probably guess by now thats not quite how it went for frank's son.. frank made sure it was all smoothed over, and the three police cars, some five officers, after a pleasant chat, were on their way, with much waving and honking of horns, sans detainee. it happens all the time

ive mentioned this before, and a great many here no doubt draw a certain amount of amusement from it, but a few years ago i for the first time ever, felt need to dial 999 and ask police to be sent as i was in fear for my life, and in fear for my future liberty (i had in my hands, a genuine burmese short sword that could and probably had, quite easily killed in its time - and i told the police despatch woman it was going through the first person through my door)

after half an hour of nonstop kicking of the downstairs security door, which felt like an age, i again called 999, repeated my request for help, let the lady hear the repeated slamming of the door by six armed men, explained i was in fear of my life, asked if the police where on their way - and was assured they were, and would be arriving shortly

they never showed. after kicking through the much more substantial security door the six guys mustve baulked at another, my front door - even though that wouldve flown off its hinges on the first kick. thank god they finally fled, almost an hour after my first emergency call. the police never showed, not even the next day. daytime, busiest road in the town, not one but two major police stations within two miles of my abode - and for all they knew i couldve been lying there dead for my mom or a girlfriend to find. thats fine you may say, why should a criminal be protected. and youre entitled to think that, but im just trying to convey to you the kind of power, life or death - wielded and abused by the lowliest constable as they see fit. unchecked most of the time to operate as they see fit.

and now, with all the technological conveniences, crutches-to-life as it were - we have freely installed in our homes, daily lives and workplaces - a corrupt policeforce can and does wield almost unimaginable power over you and your rights. and youll see it in all its horror, the next time a national emergency occurs or marshall law is declared - it will become painfully evident just how far the eyes of the tyrannical do in fact stretch into the ostensibly mundane and domestic

and if when i say youre, you think 'im no criminal, im protected'... you would do well to remember the words of the german protestant preacher, who - for his outspokeness - spent the last seven years of nazi rule in a concentration camp;

--------
first they came for the socialists, and i did not speak out -
because I was not a socialist

then they came for the trade unionists, and i did not speak out -
because I was not a trade unionist.

then they came for the jews, and i did not speak out -
because I was not a jew

then they came for me - and there was no one left, to speak for me

Not funny, not in the slightest, oh no

US gun range accident: Girl, nine, kills instructor

A nine-year-old girl in the US has accidentally killed her shooting instructor using a high-powered submachine gun.

The 39-year-old was giving the girl a lesson at the Last Stop firing range in Arizona, but the recoil from the automatic fire caused her to lose control of the Uzi.

The accident appears to have happened after the gun was switched from single to full automatic mode.

The shooting range was called Burgers and Bullets. Cute.

Indian white tiger kills student at Delhi zoo

A white tiger has attacked and killed an Indian student at Delhi zoo, officials and witnesses say.

Zoo manager Riaz Khan said the young man "leapt over the railing into the tiger enclosure". Initial reports described him as a schoolboy.

Television pictures showed the student crouching against a wall while the tiger stood near him.

An eyewitness said he was leaning over the barricade which was "very low" and may have fallen inside the enclosure.

"Around 1.30 pm, we were in the reptiles area when we heard loud screams," eyewitness Himanshu told CNN-IBN news channel.

"I ran to the tiger enclosure where we saw that a white tiger had caught the student by his neck and he was writhing in pain. Some children threw small sticks and stones at the tiger.

"He suffered for the next 10-15 minutes but nobody helped him."

However the student ended up in the enclosure, that is surely a rather unfortunate way to go. It's pretty shocking that nobody did anything for 10-15 minutes... seems like an awfully long time. You'd think they'd have someone on site who was trained with the use of a tranquilizer gun for whatever reason it may be needed.

According to The Times of India they only have 1 guard per enclosure. If you watch the video report it says that even 2 hours later the body has not been recovered because the tiger is ferocious still & 'they are waiting for veterinary back up'.
