The News Thread v. Your Penises Are Too Large And It's All Our Fault

People submit their own pics mostly. That woman more than likely wants to be seen as sexy, regardless of how she's feeling inside. EVERYONE wants to be perceived as sexy in some way, especiallly when youve got self esteem issues. Tell a woman who's made the effort to look like that for her own sense of self esteem and some relief from feeling like a piece of poo (for whatever reason), and it'll have a double whammy negative effect and she's likely to want to kick the shit out of you for good reason.

trying to psychoanalyse people in that way means you have to be insanely astute about why she feels like she does and understand her enough to be able to aid her when it'll be effective.

getting to know her a bit though, I found her to be a troubled person. She tended to get with blokes that would use her and leave her in a less dignified manner.

Apart from the layers of slap and the fake tan, she sounds just my type. Got a number?

Months later I plucked up the courage to talk to her about it. I expressed that there's hundreds of woman out their who feel insecure and down about their bodies and it's partly because of this glorification of body image she contributes to. She should strive to be recognised for her better qualities instead.

Would those 'better qualities' be chastity and modesty, raas? Y'know, those qualities traditionally deemed appropriate for good Chirstian women? :)

Yeah sure, i'll just ask her first if it's ok to hand her number out to strange perverts over the Internet that I don't know. Sure she'll be cool with that.

Nawwww... she was bright and very compassionate person and I hoped to make her see it. Felt she had found a dangerous sense of security in body image... but I badly misjudged my tactics in explaining this. n/mind, as said it's done and dusted.

Raas I could talk for ages about why your approach is ridiculously the wrong route to take when trying to bolster and give confidence over self esteem, so I'll type more later.

But basically you need to foster it by continual positive reinforcement, not criticism of the concept of objectification. Back later

This is probably the only subject that Sam and me will see eye to eye on generally. You're good at this Sam. The comment you made about rape fantasies to Shambles once, when he mentioned it was pretty normal for women to do, was spot on btw.

Been there, done that.

They tend to react by calling you 'manipulative' and then proceed to blame you for all the problems you're attemping to help them with.

They're kinda right, in a way.

^ No need marms coz I was agreeing with you the whole time, hence the fact it failed spectacularly and I learned to stave away.

I wanna see Sam's comment about rape fantasies it sounds interesting.

I think this is the one Marmalade was referring to. I'd ask her, but she doesn't talk to me anymore. :)

This one has been debated to death.

Most 'rape fantasies' experienced by women involve somebody they'd like to have sex with in a consensual manner anyhow. So 'rape' isn't really the right word; 'coercion' is possibly a better fit. Most male 'rape' fantasies differ greatly from genuine rapes in that they stem from an expression of normal sexual arousal as opposed to an act of violence and domination (as in actual rape).

To what extent both phenomena (and human sexual behaviours in general) are rooted in a patriarchal society that subjugates women is a can of worms unto itself.

Yes, that was a very good post. Trust you to be our expert on rape fantasies though ;)

Yeah, yeah. Fuck you. :D

Believe me, I've learned a little more from previous partners than I possibly needed to know.

Woman and their rape fantasies. The stuff you lot talk about when I'm not around... and TRUST SHAMBLES to be at the heart of it.

Er, anyway, marmz it's worth noting that I left a lot of details out of that story for the sake of not creating a long, tiresome post. Remembering back she actually started the converse by discussing my own "faults" (which I love; appreciate constructive criticism) and then she literally begged me to do the same to her. She's one of those who has 1000's of facebook friends and uploads pics to get attention... I kept my thoughts about it to myself until then where I appeased her wish, then got yelled at for doing so.

You're soo right about positivity over criticism regardless... I know that you're au fait with your "personal development" shiznit so I wouldn't argue :p

and yeah, to finish my original point, I am dubious about perving over people I don't know, as I feel (in this discussed incident, with the girl) when you take into consideration the ego complexes associated with ones self-perception and their needs of attention from it (Such as the case with this girl) it really affects how you (or, at least me) perceive their attractiveness. In short, the person who looks hot in the Gif could be someone who you would not find attractive if you knew them better.

This is just my opinion mind, certainly not having a go at you for your collection. Each to their own, and all that.

I've had girlfriends (no, really) and it's something several have mentioned is all. I also have a bit of a thing for women's sexual fantasies in general and have read rather a lot (ones written by women, not male assumptions of what women fantasise about) and 'rape fantasy' is a common theme. Having said that, I agree with what Sam said. In this context 'rape' is not rape in the grimey, abhorrent reality of actual rape sense. I'd suggest it's more a case of fantasy scenarios that society tends to deem as somehow 'wrong', 'dirty', 'slutty' and so on. The concept of coercion perhaps takes away the (unneccessary in an ideal world) guilt associated with such fantasies. It's not so much having consent taken away truly against her wiill as temporarily and strategically giving it away to allow for relatively guilt-free pleasure in 'forbidden' fantasy.

Also, is it my imagination or do you have a random pair of bewbies popping up at regular intervals as part of your avatar, Raas?

^ Nah, I think 25 years of substance abuse is finally catching up with you, mate ;)

It'd be decent if this piece of news could remain up. So personally I suggest strictly no mentioning other vendors, or vendors at all in any context ... even *snip* alternatives or whatever.

Also, I'm not sure that it matters whether this is already being discussed in other forums here, does it? I rarely venture to them and would like to discuss it specifically with folk who I'm familiar with etc etc ... we always have threads that double those in other forums here, tis the nature of EADD since it's a catch-all forum n all

anyway ....

Silk Road's alleged founder indicted
Ross William Ulbricht, 29, is charged with masterminding website that US authorities say brokered $1bn illicit trade

Ross William Ulbricht has been indicted on charges he was the mastermind behind Silk Road, a website alleged by US prosecutors to have brokered more than $US1bn in transactions for illegal drugs and services.

An indictment unsealed in New York on Tuesday charges Ulbricht, 29, with drug trafficking, computer hacking, money laundering and other counts.

A lawyer for Ulbricht, Joshua Dratel, said his client would plead not guilty on Friday. "The indictment was expected and does not contain any new factual allegations," Dratel said in a statement.

Ulbricht was arrested late last year. Authorities say he operated the Silk Road website under the name Dread Pirate Roberts. The website allowed users to anonymously browse nearly 13,000 listings.

Authorities say the categories included cannabis, psychedelics and stimulants. Purchases were made using the virtual currency Bitcoin.

Ulbricht was arrested on 1 October in a public library in San Francisco, shortly after authorities shut down Silk Road, which vendors and customers accessed using an encryption program that strips internet users' identifying information to allow them to communicate anonymously with each other.

Ulbricht has maintained his innocence through statements by his lawyer.

The indictment by a grand jury marks the end of an initial period during which Ulbricht could have talked with prosecutors and made a deal to soften any sentence rendered against him by pleading guilty and co-operating.

and apologies for the disappointment Raas, no porn gifs today ;p

Fuck me. I think I accidentally didnt get my form back on time when we were given the option to back out. Mark Thomas did a show on how fucking difficult it was to actually get yourself off the database. Gonna have ta give that another watch.

This blackens my soul

Police will have 'backdoor' access to health records despite opt-out, says MP

David Davis says police would be able to approach central NHS database without a warrant as critics warn of catastrophic breach of trust
According to David Davis, in the past police would need to track down the GP who held a suspect's records and obtain a disclosure order.

The database that will store the entire nation's health records has a series of "backdoors" that will allow police and government bodies to access people's medical data.

David Davis MP, a former shadow home secretary, told the Guardian he has established that police will be able to access the health records of patients when investigating serious crimes even if they had opted out of the new database, which will hold the entire population's medical data in a single repository for the first time from May.

In the past, Davis said, police would need to track down the GP who held a suspect's records and go to court for a disclosure order. Now, they would be able to simply approach the new arms-length NHS information centre, which will hold the records. "The idea that police will be able to request information from a central database without a warrant totally undermines a long-held belief in the confidentiality of the doctor-patient relationship," he said.

The records will include mental health conditions, drugs prescribed, as well as smoking and drinking habits – and will be created from GP records and linked to hospital records. Ministers have defended the incoming system – which supporters say could bring huge benefits to care and research – saying it has mechanisms to de-identify records and a series of committees which will consider requests from thinktanks, businesses, universities and government bodies, as well as offering opt-outs for patients concerned about the use of their data.

But opting out of data sharing outside the NHS will not prevent records being sucked up and state agencies in some cases will be able to get access to them.

In the case of the police, officers will be able to request all of the medical data held for specific suspects with their correct identities, regardless of whether they had opted out.

With a national database in place, the request only has to be considered by officials at the information centre, who will not know the patient personally.

Davis, who established the existence of these "backdoors" in a parliamentary question answered by health services minister Dan Poulter, said he had "no problems with the data being used for licensed medical research, but when we have police accessing from a database that people have opted out from, and companies being able to buy this data, I think we need to have a debate about whether my property, which are my patient records, can be sold and used".

Advocates say that sharing data will make medical advances easier and ultimately save lives because it will allow researchers to investigate drug side-effects or the performance of hospital surgical units by tracking the impact on patients. But privacy experts warn there will be no way for the public to work out who has their medical records or to what use their data will be put.

The extracted information will contain a person's NHS number, date of birth, postcode, ethnicity and gender. Once live, organisations such as university research departments – but also insurers and drug companies – will be able to apply to the new Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) to gain access to the database, called care.data.

Last year it emerged that the private health insurer Bupa was among four firms that had been cleared to access "sensitive" patient data.

If an application is approved then firms will have to pay to extract this information, which will be scrubbed of some personal identifiers but not enough to make the information completely anonymous – a process known as "pseudonymisation".

Speaking generally about the new system, Davis said that medical records were a person's "fingerprint".

"I have had my nose broken five times. Once you know that, I am probably in a group of 100 people in England. Then you figure out when I had my diptheria jab, usually done at birth, and bang you got me. Let me be clear: people can be identified from this data."

This week, the Information Commissioner's Office warned that information provided to patients on care.data was not clear enough about how to opt out of the programme.

Brian Jarman – the co-founder of Dr Foster, the healthcare information provider, and professor of health economics at Imperial College – said the system should be "opt in, not opt out". He said: "There is simply too much data and the risks that something leaks are too great. We need to slow this process down to ensure we have the right checks in place."

Phil Booth of medConfidential, which campaigns on medical privacy, told the Guardian: "This is precisely the danger when you create a giant database of highly sensitive information about people – all sorts of other people want to go rifling through it, including the government." There's always another good reason to go digging, but no one thinks of the catastrophic breach of trust this represents."

"The lack of independent oversight and transparency is what's most worrying. People trust their GP, but who's heard of the Health and Social Care Information Centre or the four people who sign off on access to all our medical records?"

A Department of Health spokesperson said: "There are strong legal safeguards in place to protect patients' confidentiality. If people do not want their data to be shared, they can speak to their GP and information will not leave the surgery. Any release of identifiable data without consent would only be in a very limited number of exceptional circumstances, where there is a clear basis in existing law – such as for the police to investigate a serious crime."

Dad refused NHS operation builds GUILLOTINE to amputate his own hand - but it still hurts

What a poor fucking bastard.

because doctors refused to amputate his nerve-shattered left arm which has given him constant pain since a motor bike crash in 1998.

Just look at that for a frown. What mentality you must have to go ahead with that.

He must be pretty cut up right now.

You're a fukkin star, FG <3

I <3 Mark Thomas but not seen that show so thanks for that. He actually played in the teensy lil town I live in not long back (along with fuckloads of other comedians I like oddly enough). Apparently we have an annual comedy festival here and - despite there being all of about a dozen people who actually live here - properly good acts turn up for it. Was pricey though and didn't find out til the afternoon all the ones I wanted to see were playing that night so sold out and could've only afforded to see one anyway. Dunno why they don't just sell tickets for the full evening instead of only by the show when it's obvious that most people are gonna want to go for more than the one act.
