Benzos The Benzodiazepine MEGA THREAD - Direct Benzo Questions Here

Your experience is not typical of the mentally ill. Even if one doesn't have an anxiety disorder, oftentimes psychiatric maladies morph to respond to specific stressful circumstances in life. One can basically generalize these illnesses as one inability to respond correctly to stress and tendency to exponentially augment problems or insecurity as regards to idea and emotion. Benzodiazepine withdrawal, even mentally, mildly, and taken from professional consent, would usually be an extreme circumstance.

So I stocked thru the roof with klons and noticed suboxone + 2mg klonopins give a nice nod/buzz. Add some allergy meds and it go up one notch. Now I just found a Lidocaine patch so fancy this. 2mg klon + 2mg sub +350mg lidocaine/half patch. Not sure if lidocaine does anything with this combo but hoping for something to help me thru this boring raining weekend. All the interactions saying lidocaine plus benzo is no good so hopefully something good come out of it. I find some good combos raiding my meds drawer. Like soma+xanax+sub, ya try that one, good mix.

I search both google and the search on here fora bluelight alpraola megathread but didn't find one. I guess the general benzo megathread is still a good place, right?

Is there any one best method for taking alprazolam/xanax?

Some people say insufflating is pointless as it isn't water-soluble yet others SWEAR by it.
Same thing with sublingual. Some say it's better, some say pointless.

I've never tried insufflating Xanax because the fact that it's not water soluble says to me that snorting only gives a benefit through drippage.

Would chewing the pill up and holding it under the tongue for a few minutes before swallowing be best?

Orally. It's got an incredibly high oral BA. Just take it like that.

What is the normal starting dose for alprazolam (xanax)?
I'm a 23 year old male. I'm pretty small at 5"6 and 110lbs.

From what I've read, the average starting dose would be 0.5mg three times a day? Is that right? I suffer from severe chronic pain so I am on OxyContin which I know will exaggerate the effects of the xanax. I've suffered crippling anxiety and panic attacks my whole life so I want to take the therapeutic dose. I am not looking to abuse it.

IF I am right in thinking 0.5mg 3 times a day is the usual starting dose I was going to start off taking 0.25mg 3 times daily because of my size and the opiates I take.

Anyone know the usual starting prescription? I'm probably lookin for the lowest dose to be on the safe side.

Hey guys just looking for some quick advice because I'm quite worried and am getting on a plane in about 6 hours.

Anyway I've fucked up, been on holidays in Thailand for 12 days and the temptation to get xanax OTC was too much... Ended up taking about 2-3mg at a time in a single day but not every day, only once on two consecutive days, 18mg over 12 days with breaks in between in other words.

I'm about to head home and obviously don't have access to the drug back there, are seizures a concern for me? Couldn't care less about WD`s but seizures and/or death scares the shit out of me.

So my questions are a) Will I need to taper and b) if so, am I putting myself at risk by not taking anymore till I get home and seeing a Dr there...I haven't had any since yesterday... And there was a 3 day break before that... Hope someone replies in time, thanks a heap

Body size really doesn't have much of an influence on how the drugs work, but I really don't think you have much to worry about if you were binging for less than 2 weeks inconsistently. Please try to be more responsible and think about the future next time.

Of all the benzodiazepines, the super short acting ones such as alprazolam are the most dangerous as they pose the biggest risk of seizure due to rapid ups and downs, or peaks and valleys as we call them in pharmacology, and also alprazolam is not a very strong anti-convulsant to begin with, yet it is arguably the most potent benzodiazepine that's mass-prescribed... So yeah it's a recipe for disaster and I'm glad you came here to ask first :)

Diazepam is the benzodiazepine I would recommend for rapid detox or a slow taper if you're very concerned about seizures. Better safe than sorry. Do you consume alcohol or other drugs such as Tramadol, that effect/lower your seizure threshold, in doing so, increasing your likelihood of having a seizure?

You have access to diazepam wherever you live, so long as you lived in a even semi-developed country. Since it appears your from Australia, I can assure you that you'd have no problem getting prescribed diazepam to taper off your benzodiazepine dependecy, should you require it. But once again, in my opinion (and I'm extremely experienced with benzodiazepines), two weeks of sporadic, yet high dose xanax use does not make me very concerned for you and the need to worry about seizures.

Hey thanks for the reply mate,

Yeah not a lot of foresight on my behalf...won't go near the stuff again just reading far too many horror stories. Yeah I have read diazapam is the drug of choice for tapering, I was just concerned as to how long after your last dose of xanax the seizures generally occurr... Think I'll check with Dr when I get home anyway (as you say, better safe than sorry), but you have put my mind at ease, or anxiety as it appears, how ironic lol.

Nah don't drink much anymore but have obviously had 2 or 3 big nights out here in Thailand being on a trip with my mates (who absolutely can not find out about this). Haven't had tramadal for at least year for back pain. I never drank on the same day as taking the xanax (not that silly). I did however take some for hangover relief yesterday.

FYI I am 6ft and 185 pounds.

Once again, thanks for the advice mate

here's a question that's probably been posed before but i'm in a shit mood, relapsing with alcohol and don't feel like fucking around with the search engine:
does DXM potentiate benzos?

Hi. I'm a long-time opiate user/abuser (I have legitimate severe chronic pain but use opiate recreationally, too). I also suffer from crippling anxiety and panic attacks. I wont get too much into the chronic pain as this is a benzo thread, but the circumstances that lead to it were only 7 months ago. But I was informed that I will suffer from two separate chronic pain disorders. I was informed by a pain special, is particularly in the top few most agonizing conditions to have. Especialy at such a young age (I just turned 23 this week)

My anxiety is unrelated to pain in any way. I have suffered from crippling anxiety and panic attacks since I was 12 years old. At 19, Doctors FINALLY diagnosed me with "severe mixed anxiety-depression" and put me on sertraline (Zoloft). The Sertraline works WONDERS for my depression, a miracle drug. However it did little for my anxiety or panic attacks.

Doctors still refuse to prescribe me benzos (which is so often the case where I live) so I am taking matters in my own hands ad have been taking Alprazolam (xanax) for the last two weeks. I ALWAYS through;y search any drug or medication before I take it so I knew everything about it including the usual starting dose being 0.25mg to 0.5mg three times per day. I took 0.25mg the first two days but felt the effects were too mild and have taken 0.5mg two to three times a day since (ocassionally up to 1mg).

However, I often notuced lapses in my memory or can't recall conversations I've had with people. And a few times somebody has thought I was drunk because my speak was apparently slurred (to be fair, I do often walk unusually due to pain) so maybe I'm taking the wrong benzo.

Basically, which benzo is gonna is gonna give me the least side effects? Despite living in the UK I do have a regular access to alprazolam and like it very much (usually with my oxycodone), like I have said, memory loss is a BITCH and even if I dose pretty low (0.5 -1mg) people notice my voice slurring quite a bit.

I just want a benzo that will help with my anxiety and anxiety attacks (crippling anxiety has been ruining my life since i was 12 years old) and add an extra little boost/euphoria/potentiate my oxy.

Mostly, my use will be therapeutic, but I'm not saying I'll never use it recreationally (but who can on bbuelight, right ;))

Any recommendations? I haven't tried anything but Xanax (alprazolam). I hear wonders about valium/diazepam but I'm worried about long-acting benzo's due to accidentally ODing by forgetting to take a lower dose of my opiate the next day or even the day after as well due to still having a lot of the benzodiazapine in my system.

I have available (only 2 tablets of each): diazapam, zopiclone (the wrapping also has Dormicum on, which I assume is some shitting Indian brand?) and nitrazepam. I have a large supply of plprazolam and something like 40 etizolam. I can get hold of anything else pretty easily, though.

What're you guy's favourite benzo? Any that don't cause alprazolam-type amnesia? Or make you "seem drunk".

Edit: The block out and memory loss are by far my biggest issue. I often wake up sitting up in bed on my laptop, or in from on the TV, or in a chair reading. These things NETHER happen to me. MY memory sucks. And I keep misspelling really easy words or adding random words on here that make no sense so I have to spell-checking multiple times.

PLEASE help me. Life is horrible enough living severe chronic pain and anxiety without the terrible above side-effects of xanax.

Dormicum is definitely the brand names.

That's not to say there won't be rip off/counterfeit meds.

No, you were right. It's the real deal. I apologize to Dormicum/users for jumping to conclusions. I just get paranoid when getting stuff from a new person.

Any long-term clonazepam users?

Long term benzo user been taking Klonopin for 6+months. Before I got them from time to time on the street. I prefer shorter acting benzos for some situations but overall I prefer it to the years I spent on Xanax. However it makes me tired as shit compared to Ativan and Xanax.

So I was talking to this guy about buying alprazolam (xanax) from him, and mentioned I might like try a new benzo, too, if he is willing to sell in small quantities. He said he'd send me 2 of each of the benzos he sells (free of charge) to see what I prefer.
I thought that was incredibly generous of him and agreed, feeling slightly guilty, but telling myself I would buy at least 50 of whichever I liked best from him.
However...something seems off with what I got (in the post, we don't do real meets)
Apart from the 2 xanax (which I recognized as the same as ones I have bought from others, the usual generics)...the pills were in their blister packs but he had cut off ONLY the tiny bit of the two pills so I have very little wording and half-wording to figure out what the things actually are.
From what I have deduced:
The benzos I have been given are: Zopiclone, Nitrazepam and Zepose (which I found online is apparently an Indian brand of Diazepam). I think all of the drugs are from India, rather than locally sourced like I always buy normally (not a racist thing! I'm just weary of spam and like to buy familiar brand, familiar looking pills and buy/sell UK/UK). Plus I have heard from just about everybody and on just about every site that these Indian online pharmacies that offer viagra, benzos, opiates etc cheap and without prescription, are selling weak, dodgy stuff and to avoid them.

From what I have read on wiki, neither Zopiclone nor Nitrazepam are "real" benzos and seem to have pretty shitty abuse qualities apart from their intended use as sleeping pills.
Has anyone tried this Zepose valium? Any good?
Am I being fobbed off with bad stuff?

I dunno, there's just something fishy about the whole thing.

Any long-term clonazepam users?

Nearly 8 years. I have tried tapering multiple times and in a variety of ways and could never get by on less than 1mg a day and actually function due to anxiety.

1mg 3x a day.

Feel free to ask me any questions or PM me.

That's why I think the American health care system is so evil. You need to either work you ass off and pay premium for good insurance or be like a billionaire to afford it.
Here in the UK, a free in-hospital detox is available to everybody. Unless it's an emergency that requires immediate hospitalization, you're probably looking at an 8-12 week waiting list.
But I have been 3 times for alcohol (a fourth and the final also involved extreme physical illness and multiple organ failing , so is not a typical example. I'll use the first time I went as the others were all basically the same).
However, if you walk int the emergency room in visible withdrawal (sweating, shivery, shaking, nauseous/vomiting), they will treat you immediately.
I went 12 hours without alcohol (that's when you enter the seizure state so I wasn't gonna risk that). I did have about a 3 hour wait while people with bigger emergencies like heart attacks, severe bleeders, fitting, etc.
I was taken into a room by a very nice nurse who took my vitals and immediately brought me 10 chlordiazapoxide (librium) capsules. Then she took me to a bed where she told me the name of my doctor who'd see in the morning and this was my bed until I was better and to buzz her if I felt unwell.
20 minutes later I vomited and she was very sweet about it and she gave me 10 more chlordiazapoxide.
I was also provided with 3 (surprising varied and quality) meals a day, although I was too nauseous to eat ans s much water, milk, fruit juice and ensure you want.
The nurses would sponge-bath you agreed, but didn't insist is you weren't up to it
You get a doctor visit to check everything every day, plus the ward Sister (like, the head nurse in charge of the ward) at all times and a team of nurses 24/7
There's even TV!
There was a guy about 10 years older than me, 31 I think he said) who was in there for benzodiazapine addiction. His favourite was valium but he took crazy quantities of any of them. We both had very similar withdrawal symptoms.
The nurse checks on you every 4 hours by taking your blood press, heart rate, oxygen levels etc. She then scores any visible withdrawals (sweating, shaking clammy) from 0 to 4 and asks your levels of muscle aches and anxiety etc and based on the scores gives you the appropriate amount of chlordiazapoxide. You can also buzz for a nurse any time 24/7 if you feel unwell and she'll quickly assess you and give you the pills you need.
They are careful to watch out for people lying or exaggerating for extra drugs but they are also caring and although ONCE I was asked to wait an hour as mu symptoms weren't quite there enough, they never let you suffer.
Me and the guy next to me talked a lot, I read a lot, slept when I could.
Within 72 hours of admission both of us were home and completely detoxed; free of any physical addiction

Overall, it was a very easy and comfortable experience (well as comfortable as being in a hospital can get) and it was all free. NOT BRAGGING BTW. Just feeling bad for you, man. I hear they have the same in Canada if you could go to hospital there?
