Strains ideas for next grow

I'm an active member of a non profit organisation called ARGE Canna (www.arge-canna.at). We try to help people to get their prescriprions for Dronabinol and help them for example to get it paid by their insurance. We do small conferences with press and TV, but people seemed to be annoyed, just like "Fuck, I have to be here". They just don't get it. We are supported by 2 specialists - they work multimodally with cannabinoids and sometimes opiates, too, depends on what the problem of the patient is. Also we want real buds in our pharmacies, that's the next topic. But were in Austria here and they are veeeeery slowly ....

Next day or the day after next day we are all exited to see or read something about our press conferences - - - Nothing.
FUCK IT.

But we do not give up :)

JJ
Gonna look into this further and see if there is a way to spread this out to my side of the world
But thanks

Hey @Coffeeshroom
You mentioned Durban Poison; i can recommend that. Very uplifting and cerebral. If one is prone to anxiety, i would suggest not overdoing it with this one. Mine were more spicy than fruity, but i had hybrids cause i'm from the northern hemisphere. I don't think they would have finished without problems, although i had pure sativas that did. But this strain could be ideal for your climate?

I would like to go for some Jack Herer and Northern Lights if i had a chance to do so. And yes, Gorilla Glue, as was already mentioned. I personaly would probably go with one plant per strain (for more variety), not like the grows before. And also more towards higher CBD content.

When are you starting your growing season down there? How long is it?

I know the situation you are talking about, and it annoys the hell out of me, ...to the point where i don't want to confront myself with this any more, cause it 'poisons' me, it's unhealthy. I was a bit active in the past too, but i now think it's more or less hopeless here..

Cheers 🌱

Exactly these strains are the kings of Indica and you are right, a bit higher with the cbd and it's more calming.

It certainly is. At least the CBD stuff is getting decriminalized and more popular now, but the executive is still pushing against CBD flowers (without having legal support anymore); not so much against extracts, oils and other forms. My theory is that they are afraid that more people would realize that the deadly 'Suchtgift' cannabis is, well ..a flower 🌷, and that there consequently will be more pushback against the political idiocy. But that's what i hope for.

Great that you are still active and raise awareness on this subject matter! Thanx. 👏

Cheers

When it comes to durban poison, i have been smoking that since a teen and the real landrace strain we had or still have here so will definitely look to get a good untouched strian of DP. So very familiar with it.

Grow season or planting starts late september and harvest is here around march/april depending on the plant.

Interesting choices, i had to look them up cause i never heard of these strains before.

I wish you much success with your grow! 🌱

Well they are what i can get so far but im definitely still gonna get a good white widow, nothern lights and if the universe will bless me a red congolese strain too

Only been growing 2 outdoor seasons now myself.... yay legalization lol... the first year I just got clones and they went to seed a bit (be it they hermied and I didn’t catch it or there was pollen floating around I can’t say). And this year I just used those seeds (but they went to seed again ... duel)

We’ve got a relatively short growing season here and cooler temps in the late summer and fall combined with the possibility of a wet/humid fall makes a perfect breeding ground for mold/mildew.

So I’ve been looking on the seed banks for strains with shorter flowering periods and mold/mildew resistance. I found some specifically designed for Canada’s shorter growing season and Holland’s hope (a shorter flowering period and mold and mildew resistant).

Don’t mean to hijack the thread but o figured it fit the theme... if anyone has strain ideas with shorter flowering periods (but not auto flowers, I’d like to start them indoors) and mold/mildew resistance properties I’d be all ears.
Thanks

Sorry bud, you also from SA and where, like province? if you don't mind me asking?

No, I’m from Canada, so I guess it doesn’t really fit lol

They weren’t too seedy either year and I was more than happy with last years crop. This year the buds look to be a lil more sparse ... likely due to the lack of training

I keep track of solar radiance (one of my nerdy hobbies) and this year the sun's output is very low as compared to historical data from the last few decades. That may explain your slightly decreased growth.

@Cheshire_Kat perhaps that’s played a role too. Last year I was really on top (some pun intended lol) of the training and I had a much more even top. So this year the main colas had comparable buds to last but the branches lower were much more sparse

Yes tired, one of many factors.

I used to grow extensively indoors and have experiment with various light intensity and there is a direct relationship between light intensity and bud density/ harvest weight.

Other factors were cultivation methods (training) nutrients and ph.

Grow on, my friend. In fact, Overgrow. ;)

@tired of crap A few years back i could have helped you out, cause i was (again) researching the same thing. Didn't take any notes, so i just don't know anymore. Would have recommended auto's but when you want to start early and grow huge trees, that's clearly not an option. But you could have more plants? And yes, there are not many things more sad than seeing a potentially nice bud getting moldy. :( One time i had hail literally shooting buds off the plants. That was bitter..

I recall that there are some strain databases on the net with extended search options, so you can select for duration of flowering period for example. But it's not all the duration i believe, plant/flower size and structure etc. is determining too. I think the following was one of them:
Good luck!

You mean the emissions of the sun annually (or does it have it's own cycle?) varies so much that it significantly changes plant growth/flowering? Wow. Shows how fragile and fine-tuned this seeming balance here on earth is.. 🌍 Cool hobby btw.

Overgrow ..or Outgrow the government. Wasn't that the slogan of Marc Emery back in the day?

Too bad you couldn't get the Durban Poison seeds! Personally speaking you could just grow DP and I would be one happy man. Yep, once I discovered DP, it's all I want to smoke. One problem though, I smoke it too damn fast, cause itt's oh so good!

I just looked around because of Durban Poison and found just "Durban" from SensiSeeds - comes from South Africa and is a mostly Indica. But it's for sure not the right one...

JJ

EDIT: The same company is selling "Durban" that is mostly Sativa.

Dutch passion has Durban Poison (regular) from South Afrika - 100 % Sativa - is that what you mean - they have feminized Durban Poison, too -- again from South Africa and 100 % Sativa.

JJ

EDIT: Thats unfortunately all I can find in my catalogue here...
