Sun, bbq, planted a load of lavender plants and took the kids to see the new Dory film. Which I thoroughly enjoyed because I too am a big kid like that. Glad of vino and another film to end the weekend, perfick Sunday.

What's up peeps? Been busy all week but having a nice weekend. Watching the U.S. women's gymnastics kick ass right now. I love me some Olympics.?

^ Me too. Some good moments there.

I had the day to myself, got a lot of stuff organized. Threw away a lot of papers, old contracts, bills I had paid 5 or even 6 years ago.
Feels good! :)

Next week we'll paint one of the rooms and see how it looks.

Oh my gosh, did y'all see that footage of the poor French gymnast? I just felt like crying, so devastating!

I saw that aplumgirl. Disgusting. Made me remember why I didn't get into gymnastics. Oh yeah also I have no athletic ability, lol. Other than that I have nothing good to say. I'm on the wrong thread, except, Elvis rocks but make me want to do every drug in sight. Him and Johnny Cash. Out

Lol! Yea something about 70's rick and roll just begs me to get stoned!!

That poor guy was hurting so bad! I've had my arm broken that way, where it bends in the complete wrong direction, I can't describe how painful it was!!!!

Sorry you're not in a great mood. Not too perky myself but I'm avoiding my negativity ATM.

I watched a video today that really helped me put my suffering in a more positive light. There is something I can learn while I suffer, I'm not alone while I'm suffering and not to be discouraged in my suffering! I'm grateful for a better perspective!

^ Good to hear aplumgirl! Getting sober is not all about suffering, we find our own magic moments - and - even if they are not as present as they used to be they are real they makes us feel good about ourselves. You are doing a great work! Keep it up! :)

You are far from alone. I know well that, when you are suffering it feels like you're so isolated and outcast because those around you are just fine. There are a lot of us who suffer and, really, we just gotta push on, even if it hurts sometimes. And finding others who know the pain can help a lot because it gives you someone to vent to that understands what you're going through better than the average, healthy person would.

It's great that you can look at it from another perspective though. Weird as it sound there's something to learn with any experience, even the ones that suck due to pain.

That is indeed awesome!

I got to spend a couple hours chatting with CJ today and, man, what a great guy! He turned me onto the documentary, How to Survive a Plague, about ACT UP/TAG and the AID crisis and boy did it get me. Sooooooooooooo many parallels with what is going on now with opioids and drug policy and the institutional and systematic criminalization and dehumanization of drug users, particularly intravenous drug users, in America.

It could have happened, every day. This you are saying is all over the place, opiates is doing history, perhaps even more than the seventies.

Some countries have managed to decrease substantially some of the deadly risks of heroin intake for instance. You get registered in a clinic, go through an appointment. Some of the patients accept to make important exams to find out about their health, or specifics exam that can change their lives.

They are treated and and continue to get their drug, but provided by them for free, clean drugs, supervised by nurses, volunteers, etc. In some of places they have meetings and this is normally done in spotted places where criminality and diseases have now decreased significantly.

Some of these 'patients' it interesting when they see it's possible to set objectives and goals no matter how far out they are and rehab becomes a possibility. As we all know, when you talk to people who have gone through these same experiences treatment tends to be more effective. I've seen this happening in Canada, have also seen it in a lot of similar documentaries where similar experiences have had successful results.

Most of the documentaries I see show how dealers cut their drug with killing chemicals or harder drugs like fentanyl hoping to get more people to buy from their patches and if one of them dies, they know for sure that this won't affect their business.

Enter Switzerland :) the public health model is already out there and proven infinitely more effective than the public safety bullshit we are clinging to in the US. Very frustrating!!!

I totally agree about our antiquated health care system! I'm a true socialist at heart! It seems that no matter how many people die for ANY given disease in the US, it's about the almighty buck!!! Let big pharmaceutical companies get richer, let crooked govt officials who work with lobbies get richer, let poor sick people die!

Switzerland, Germany, Great Britian , Australia all these countries while they have problems still kick our ass daily in the US!!!

I'm SICK of it!

Thanks SO much crazybirdguy and Erik. I suffer physically a lot. I've had so many health problems in my life, just random stuff nobody has an explanation for.

Recently I started to question why all these bizarre health problems were happening to me. The physical suffering was bad but that opened a whole new emotional level of suffering I didn't need or want. I joked I didn't know how to suffer well enough I needed help from a Catholic (no harm or offense meant). I just couldn't wrap my head around why!

I realize I can be an example myself how to bear up under suffering. I can show that while it's hard to smile in pain, it can be done.
