Wow Care, that is quite an amazing showcase!! There are so many pieces in there that I love, too many to quote.
The one you said is possibly your favourite, the girl floating on the water below the moonlight, that is also possibly my favourite. And that last one is very intriguing.
Where did you find all those?? You have good taste
Most of the vector art is by limkis, here is her deviant art gallery http://limkis.deviantart.com/gallery/ You should check it out if you liked the ones I posted, there are a ton more that are just as good.
Besides the ones you mentioned I also really like the palm tree one, so surreal. And also the one with the guy eating the earth, which is a different artist.
Found this site today about a photographic journey into "Battleship Island," an abandoned Japanese island, once one of the most densely populated islands in Japan. The photographs remind me of a series called "Derelict London". Except that "Derelic London", while an mazing site from an historical standpoint, is filled with mediocre photos. "Battleship Island" collection is composed of post-apolcalyptic, stark shots.
It also reminds me of the documentary work on the contaminated areas around Chernobyl that's been lovingly maintained by a Ukrainian woman who loves to ride her bike through vast expanses of deserted villages and the company town, Pripet, where most of the workers on the reactor lived. She's more of an amateur journalist and historian, but her work despite its lack of formal composition and color theory, etc is breath-taking in its meaning.
What's particularly interesting is that she's been documenting he changes in this area for more than ten years. Spend some time with her site and see what nature looks like when it reclaims our own little deadly chicken-scratches on the planet. Older people have started moving back into some of the abandoned villages.
I'm already INCREDIBLY intrigued and inspired by art like this and this piece made me desperately wish I could express myself in this way. like painting..I can't paint to save my life! It was the first time I also I wished I could afford to buy art like this for my apartment.
This picture (I have a print) from Niki @ Angelic Hell Tattoo in Brighton - the eyes just draw me in, and the candle fills me with warmth somehow!
She's the artist who's going to do my Hamsa on my right arm, so this is my piece of art for today coz I'm anticipating her working on me (she's quite attractive too hehe).
