That's what I meant :p

Dyslexic fingers and mixed messages from the brain syndrome now and then I'm afraid.

I nearly always get dissapointed with Popular Actors showing up in Makes of Great literary works though, they usually spoil them for me, but they might get a chance to shine.. hopefully - going to try to keep an open mind about this one...

(Pleeze be good,Pleeze be good, pleeze be good!)

My sentiment exactly. Although i'd refrained from saying so out loud for fear of jinxing anything.

1957 was when it was written . i didn't get around to reading it until a few years later .
drove us blossoming hippies to hit the road and hitch to haight asbury .
hard to imagine it having impact to the young of gen x,y,z still today .
times have changed !

Right on, Hobhead. I agree it did set a fire. The beats never get the notoriety that the hippies do but the beats had it going on. They were living balls to the wall all the time and writing about it to boot.

I dont know, they seem kind of intertwined to me. Even in this story you have William S Burroughs, Alan Ginsberg and other influential members of 60s counterculture.

IIRC Neal Cassady was a founder of the Merry Pranksters :)

I always thought Ken Kesey was the founder, even though was no official founder per se.

Yeah Kesey was too but Cassady was right there with him. The very beginnings of the Pranksters revolved around Kesey's house parties and the Magic Bus trip which Cassady was along for.

Recently finished reading the book for the first time. It was amazing. I'm pretty excited to hear about this film.

Indeed, the book had me on a natural high right the way through.

I ended up reading it twice. I've been waiting for this movie for ages, silently hoping they don't fuck it up.

I especially liked the descriptions of Dean getting lost in the music at the jazz clubs, oh, and the Mexican whorehouse.

The part on the back of the semi trailer the logger brothers were driving, jumping freight trains, everything in Denver and all things skid row are stand out memorable parts of the book :D

I can't help but see Ian Curtis when I see Sam Riley..............
I hope this movie changes that.

ocean posted these in the Kristen Stewart thread, they should be reposted here as not everyone is as into her as we are :)
